listen to cbc radio one and you will not need a subwoofer period

Ya you can get up to a 12 inch sub to fit behind your seat. You will just need to build a custom box for it.

Yeah pendejo is right. When you go to pick out an amp look at the RMS watts, not the peak. Same thing goes for speakers. Usually a ported box will sound louder and a sealed one will sound tighter and cleaner, but it depends on the sub. I had one 12 inch sub with 800 watt RMS (1500 peak) and a 750 watt RMS mono amp (which means one channel) It shattered my rear window, and could make you puke if you lissen to it for 15 min. turned up.

Heres a good site to visit. They have good examples on amps and speaker and they also have a message board with alot of smart people. http://www.polkaudio.com/car/index.php

Really need to know what kind of truck it is. Its not the size of sub thats produces the bass, its the box.

S-10 can fit 4 10'' subs behind the seat and blow away any hatch back bandpass 12
4 12's can fit behind almost any full size truck as long as the box is built correctly and the subs can handle small qube space.
I have seen a toyota tacoma reg cab that had 4 7x10's blow away 2 RF 12's in a db drag.

I don't know alot about Car stereos but I want a good sytem for my truck, Its a regular cab. My buddy has a subwoofer in his trunk, I want Base like in his car but in my truck is this possible? That Sub in his car wouldn't fit in my truck unless I put it on the passenger seat. Any help that could give me a clue what to do about this would be helpful, thanks.

Its a 1990 F250, it deosn't look like it has much room behind the seat, should I go to a car stereo dealership and have them tell me what they think?

Tommorow i'll measure how much room I have behind the seat...

When I worked at a stereo shop, we did a 8" eclipse aluminum dvc behind the seat wired for 1.5 ohms(supposedly dual 4 ohms, but actually 3) and ran on the sub channel of an xtant 603x .. Not very impressive on paper(or signing in at iasca-total 300 watts), but hit 124 dbs. Playing with impedance is fun if the amp can handle it without shutting down. Try explaining why a 300 watt amp runs $1000 plus installation. The orion hcca amps are cheater amps too.. You should call orion and ask 'em how much it is to upgrade the power supplies. If they still do it, it's worth whatever they are charging.
The most fun amp I played with was 250 watts at 4 ohms. Rated 1 ohm stable and I set up a few at .5 ohms. Got kinda hot but the fan kept it from shutting down.

you can also put sub under you seats in the storage compartments if a ford 250 has them

I had a reg cab 96 ranger with 2- 9 in punch woofers with an alpine and fosgate amp
had a custom box built. full alpine system. had way to much bass for that truck
it had 1400 watts of power till the truck was totaled and now after all the bass
im half deaf in both ears. so be careful with what you install

go to www.musicmooseaudio.com

they have custom built speaker boxes for alot of different model trucks, this is where I got my sub enclosure for my 04 dodge ram quad cab.

A few years back(5 years ago) I had a 1990 ford f-150 regular cab, with complete kenwood system. Not the best by any means. At the time I had 2 box speakers. Each box contained a 10 inch sub, 3 inch mid and a 1 inch tweeter. It fit beautifully behind the seat. Both boxes were ported and it sounded great. Also had a 320 watt amp and a six pack cd changer. all fit behind the seat. Amp mounted on back wall of cab under window between the speakers. Changer mounted just behind driver side seat. I would imagine they still make those box speakers specifically for trucks.

If you get 4 subs you will be deaf in a year. I have 1 in my car and it is plenty loud. All you really need is 1 nice one or MAYBE 2 in a double box.

I would definitely talk to a local shop for opinions. It's really hard to build a box to fit behind the seat of a standard cab and still have full forward and back movement of the seat. I put 2 12's in the back of my Mazda B-2200 in a custom box. All I did was make a template that went from 2 inch below the seat, down to the floor and followed the contour of the tranny "hump"(that doesn't sound right, oh well) then copied it so I had two templates and put my seat back all the way. Now with the original template taped to the rear wall, run the second parallel to the seatback, but leave at least 1/2 inch between them(I taped 4 half inch wide pieces of wood to the seat and then taped the template to those) now, you should be getting an idea of what it will look like, you just need to close in the sides, top, and bottom. Then make the cutout's for the woofers, and decide if you want to port it or keep it sealed. If you do it yourself, search google for info on how to properly build an enclosure and how to port it(believe it or not, you can't just cut holes in it!) Well good luck, what do you plan on using for woofers and amp? I might have some stuff for sale, if interested.

For your info, just because an amp says it will put out 1000 watts, doesn't mean it's true. I have an Orion 225 HCCA that is rated at 25 watts per channel at four ohms, but it is quarter ohm stable and(lower the ohms, more power) so it's possible to extract 600 watts(or more) from it. Keep that in mind, make sure you are eductaed about what you are buying from a reputable source. When I first got into car stereo's, I had to get some help from a local shop to install my first amp, and when I pulled it out, they said it wouldn't work( because I didn't buy from them) so I took it somewhere else, and they taught me everything I ever wanted to know about anything related to car audio equipment. Talk to Sargent's Stereo I know they aren't local, but they are very knowledgable and friendly.

WheelieKing, I tried PMing you, but it wouldn't let me... dunno why. Anyway, I have decided to keep my amp and subs, since I went back to work I don't have to sell them now. Sides, shipping would kill ya on ym woofers, they're pretty heavy. I would stay away from Bazooka tubes, they're alright if you just want a little bass, but if you get in to car stereo stuff too much(like we all seem to do) you'll be dissappointed. Sh1t, when I first got my system working properly, I thought I had the hardest hitting subs in Bend. Now, I want even more power(time to bridge!).They are like quads in a way, stock is great for a beginner, but after awhile, you just want more. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, just do your research first before purchasing anything!
