Just a brief input from another out-of-stater; you MUST register in person; do so the day before the ride to avoid the lines. Next, stay where overnight you can get to the staging area EARLY. You may want to carry something to eat and drink while you wait. Last year, my group arrived at the staging area at 7:00 a.m.; we crossed the starting line about 10:00 a.m. The organization and administration is capable and efficient; however, 6,000 ATV's are 6,000 ATV's, and it takes awhile for all of 'em to pass the same points. Being self-sufficient doesn't hurt, with tools, tow-strap, parts you might need; oil; gasoline, however, is conveniently available at refueling points operating with amazing efficiency and speed. The experience is worthwhile, you'll be glad you came. Tree Farmer

nathan, If you plan on staying at one of the camping areas over night, I'd bring a set of ear plugs if you want to get some sleep. Some inconsiderate SOBs like to play music all night.

When can you start to ride the trials? I think my dad will take me should I try to get there by 6:00 or when do they let you through?. Did any one ever make a rack I want one for my 250R that I will take to carry gas and other junk. How fast can you go through it? Can I make it to the gas stop on one tank of gas or will I have to carry some?

Nathen, I hate to seem rude but Freddie is wrong! I just received my flyer for the 2000 poker run. It stated that there is a gas stop halfway thru each trail. There are four trails this year, so you add it up. The octane of the gas is 93. Price is yet to be determined, last year it was $2.00 a gallon. You must bring your own oil. You can bring your own gas, but it must be in an approved container (ie no milk jugs). Good luck and enjoy yourself. I know I have.

Basically I was doing to you what you did to Treefarmer. He stated there was refueling points along the trails, you stated he was wrong. His plural use did not necessarily mean on one trail. He did not specify the number of trails. Since he said points and there is more then one trail he was correct in his statement. Just as you are and I am, I was just being very specific. No offense intended.

Nathen, I hate to seem rude, but treefarmer is wrong. They only supply gas at the now one refueling point on the trip. It is half way through the 45 miles. There is no oil-mix available. So if you ride two-stroke, bring your own oil to mix with the gas they sell. Have fun and see ya there. Oh, if anyone wants to stop and say hello, we camp by the pond on the starting line. Look for the big red Chevy Crewcab, just stop in and say hello to us! .........Freddie

Eric, What was I wrong about?! Everything you said was exactly what I had said! When I said one point I meant on each trail. But they used to have 2-3 stops for gas on each trail. ......Freddie

this year I'm thinking about BYPASSING the Stupid WAIT lines and just go from the parking lot right in with the first group that rides by!!! As you know Tree Farmer, we waited WAY TOO LONG like dolts in that line only to ride past the parking lot where we could have easily just "meshed in" with the rest. It's not like they register your number at the start line or anything.

At the gas stops does anyone know if they have high octane fuels or do i need to bring that along? Or is there at least someone nearby that sells it?

I have read about it for years, but this year I am going to go. Need pointers from hands on Cochranton, PA poker run attendees. What are the state laws, what to bring for the ride, what to watch-out for? Four of us heading up the day before from Indianapolis, any info will be helpful.

No problem there Mike, we have got some rooms reserved in Meadville. If I am cold, wet, muddy and waiting in line...the last thing I need is sleep depravation. Thanks to everyone for their replies and keep them coming....Knowledge is Power.

I read that it was either 92 or 93 octane. Last year it $2 bucks a gallon. Who knows how much this year with the price of gas now.
