News update

The cup thrown at Ron Artest was bid up to over 100 million before Ebay shut it down.

Artest, got what he was wanting. They gave him his wish. He wanted time off to promote his cd. So he now has a year to do so.

I think the suspension was too light. Should have been indefinate. Hit him in the pocket book. If he doesnt play for 2 or 3 seasons he would be in a financial bind. Then he wouldnt be such a jacka$$.

I understand that he is not getting paid while hes suspended, but a guy like that has millions in the bank, and hes putting out a record, so he will make millions more just off name recongnition. It would take a couple of seasons to real put a hurting on him. Just my opionion.

This is one way to get people to start watching basketball. Even with the suspensions I bet they still get paid. I say hit them in the pocket book. Don't pay him for 30 games, then maybe you can get a beer a little cheaper.

Who would throw a $12 cup of beer. The guy should have had is ass beat just for wasting the brew.
I'm glad to see the fines. People who make millions to play a sport should get fined millions when they screw up.

The fans should stay out of it...But until Hockey comes back it would be nice if the players would have one or two good scraps per game...at least until hockey comes back on. I feel bad for the kids who were sitting in the seats close to the fight .....they were obviously upset and scared

Well that ghetto boy is in all likelihood broke or close to it. He will be hurting by the time this year ends I bet, IF the suspension holds which I have my reservations about. Yep they make an obscene amount of money but there are plenty of stories of these guys with a Bentley and no gas money. Did you see him (Artest) talk on TV yesterday? Not the brains God gave a squirrel. He'll end up broker than MC hammer.

As far as the guy in the white hat that threw the beer cup on him, I'll say this. If Artest was who he was aiming at, get that guy pitching on your softball team. Saw the camera angle last night that actually showed him launching the cup. He was way up there and it landed right side up just perfect. What a shot!

Personally, I'm not too concerned about any of this. I won't even watch any NBA games, it's nothing but a bunch of hood gangs with tattoos and shorts down to their ankles and gold chains. I won't support any of it until they clean up their act and I don't see that coming any time soon.

Yall see the highlights of that fight? I saw it today on Sportscenter, pretty crazy. It started off when Ben Wallace pushed Ron Artest, then some fan threw water on him. From that, punches were thrown from the players at each other, then some fans got whooped too.... one of the most entertaining I've seen in sports before

Posted by: Troyer23J

These "PROFFESIONAL" athletes with no self control is insane. Fans are going to throw things, as wrong as that is, its gonna happen. Players can't go into the stands and attack them. They guy Artest was beating on wasn't even the guy who threw the beer at him.

What a joke.

Then, yesterday in the CLEMSON vs. South Carolina College football game, the players got into a brawl. Thats all over Sportcenter too. I went to CLEMSON, for you guys not in the south, this rivalry is huge here. But these punks get into a brawl which clears both sidelines and had State Police getting thrown onto the ground. Players should have been taken away, from both sides. If the players want to fight with each other, thats bad enough, but when they start shoving cops around, they should be taken away.

On top of all this, a South Carolina player said after the game, "It was the Pacers fault"

crazy.

Both these teams have Bowl Games coing up in a month or so, As much as I want Clemson to win, I would like to see Tommy Bowden step up and suspend every player who laid a hand on any Police Officer. There is great video of the whole fight, they can get them all. I think they should be prosecuted as well, but that won't happen.

I seen it right when it happened. I was hoping Wallace was beat Artest down. It was crazy and it's not good for the Nba. Have they said how long the suspensions would be?

Posted by: Yfz450VsBanshee

Artest suspension-season
Jackson-30 games
Oneal-25 games
Wallace-6 Games
Johnson-5 games

Posted by: Yfz450VsBanshee

Um there not getting paid for the suspensions. Artest lost 5.5 million for 73 games and Oneal lost 4.5 million for 25 games. I don't remember the rest but the lowest paid guy lost 55 thousand for 1 game

Only in America.

I don't think that going into the stands is correct, but I do think the pistons fans that came out on the court had a good beating coming. Especially the one that O'neal clocked, that was hillarious. Even the guy that originally threw the beer on Artest then punched him in the side of the head from behind, I personally think he deserves a whoopin too. I hope the fans involved get prosecuted as hard as the players because they had just as much to do with it and the players deffinately are paying.
