I just did my 22 1/2 years and I have no complaints. In fact I liked it so much I had to come back to this lovely oasiss for another year as a civilian.
Each service has it's advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes I wish I would have joined the army or marines because I like being where the action is, but I'm glad I joined the Air Force because I got a good education and have a job that is making apretty good salery.
I think just about everybody should do four years in the military if they aren't going to go to college. You owe it to your country. Once you get over to one of these places and see how bad other people have it, you'll never say anything bad about the life we live in the states.

Of course boot camp is hard. If it wasn't hard everybody would do it.

This is something that is taken for granted all too often. We complain and feel sorry for ourselves if we can't afford that new truck or ATV for another year or two while others are grateful to get a decent meal. Most of us are rich beyond expectation and don't realize it. Join and be proud of what you are protecting.

Anyone who has done it states it worth it. Thanks for wanting to serve this great country. Your a true american my friend

Hell yes it's worth itIt gives you the self gratification of making it through a tough, grueling time. It makes you look at things in a different perspective and you learn, You can over come anything, life has to deal you. After boot camp, it depends on what your MOS will be. It could be as rigorous or it can be going to computer school. But, there will be some physical training involved. I think, when your done with boot camp, Momma will be proud of her baby boynd, I think you will be proud of yourself too.

Also, thank you for wanting to join and help keep America and the world Safer

My three years had me at Fort McClellan, Alabama, Camp Humphrey's, South Korea and Fort Bragg, North CarolinaBR>

Nothing like being out in the field for weeks on in, eating green eggs(if your lucky), mre's, no showers and sleeping with your trusty weapon

I was thinking about joining the army but have a couple questions. How bad is boot camp because I am a big boy and I am affraid that nine weeks of running all day might kill my mommas baby boy? After you make it through the nine weeks of pure hell is it worth it?

Posted by: brutis

When your in boot camp are you training 7 days a week?

I was in the army national guard as a truck driver (88 mike). Went to Fort Dix, NJ for basic and AIT. We had 8 man rooms and while I can't really recall the first two weeks, during the third week the guys in my room went from total strangers to like best friends. The rest of the weeks went by quick. My basic was only eight weeks (1989). I was a fat ass going in, around 220lbs. My first PT run (2 miles) I ran in almost 20 minutes. I was chosen as a road guard and after running my ass off in those 8 weeks, I tip the scales at 185 and was running alittle less than 6 minutes a mile. Looking back, I really had fun during basic but just too busy and scare to realize it at the time BR> After three years my civilian job went away and I enlisted into the navy. That boot camp was 10 times easier physically but they played alot more mind games than the army. I really had more fun in basic than boot camp but I think everyone should try the military get some experience and some money for school.

Hey- What are the reserves like? I've never been in the military, but I've been in 6 different countries, some 3rd world, people who have never been wont know till they go. Its something you have to expeirecne for yourself.

Go for it. I will say that boot camp is the easy part of your enlistment if you choose the route that I took. Join the Infantry and really punish yourself. I guess everyone thinks boot camp is so tough because your trying to adapt to the military. What you will find out is down the road when you start doing really world operations, they are far more demanding both physically and mentally than boot camp. One thing to remember right now is that once you get in you my not be able to get out as the Army has imposed a stop loss. This means that no one is leaving. If you do decide to join think long term. Like after you get out. Go for a lot of college money and a big bonus. And don&39;t spend the all the bonus either, invest it.!!!!!!! So go see the recruiter and tell him you want MOS 11B (Infantry), Airborne School and a Ranger slot. Then when you hit your duty station you most likely be in a Infantry unit, Airborne unit or Ranger Battalion. All of which have a high sense of cohesiveness between members and they take care of each other for the most part. Good Luck
