So what part of the valley are you from?

Around here, I just do a whole lot of nothing. I usually go see DaBeech when things get too boring, you know the dunes are only about 2 hrs away. In fact, Im headed down there this weekend

San Francisco, Ca., 1906, magnitude 7.8. Impressive but not the "BIG ONE".

Largest magnitude quake in the continental U.S., Prince William Sound, Alaska, 1964, magnitude 9.2BR>
Largest magnitude quake outside the U.S., southern Chile, 1960, magnitude 9.5. More than 2,000 killed, 3,000 injured, and 2,000,000 left homeless. This is the stuff of nightmares!

My wife offers earthquake insurance when she writes a home policy. The deductibles are high and coverages aren't great but it is designed to prevent a "total loss". When her clients refuse the insurance she has them sign a form stating that they refuse the coverage. This is in anticipation of possible lawsuites due to lack of coverage when the "big one" does hit.

So why do we stay in California?

Mike's pics #11, #22, and #23. California girls are worth it!

I have been hearing on the radio (Mark and Brian) that tomarrow is the end of the world, so this is only the beginning!

dont you mean that everything WEST of the san andreas fault will fall into the atlantic?

i saw a bumper sticker on t he way back from coffee this morning. it said:

"Kerry has cooties and Edwards eats boogers"

and it just struck me how childish politics have actually become.

oh hell ... my bad

i forgot my geography for a minute

'note to self ... atlantic is east'

I didn't feel it in the Central Valley. Could of been because I was on Hwy 99 and with the ruts in it, you always feel like your in a earthquake. Last one that hit that region in Dec. The wife and I just left Paso Robles the day before. We still have cracks in our house from the 1989 earthquake in S.F

The actual big one was in 1906. This one in 1989, was pretty big too. It dropped large sections of the Embarcadero Expressway, dropped a 50 foot section of the Bay Bridge, Mission Area in S.F. was devastated along with alot of of areas. We're 90 miles away and felt it, like we were above the fault zone ourselves.
