How many lakes are there in Los Angeles? Laker Fakers! I think they just keep the name as a tribute to their birthplace!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

Posted by: hammer4

10 Lakes Huh? That's it? There is well over 10,000 here in Minnesota. Hence the old Minneapolis Lakers name. You have mostly Reservoir's in the LA area like: Chatsworth, Encino, Stone Canyon, Santiago, and a few lakes such as: Lake Mathews, Lake Perris, Lake Elsinore, Hollywood Lake, Silver lake Reservoir, Puddingstone Reservoir. Check out all the Lakes on a Minnesota map. Heck, in Ottertail county up north there is around 1000 lakes alone in that county. Not bragging, just a fact.

Posted by: hammer4

Remember the old Lakers such as: Kurt Rambis, Swen Nater, Chuck Nevitt, Magic J, Kareem Abdul Jabbar(Lew Alcindor), James Worthy, Michael Cooper, etc. That was quite a team back then.

Yes they are great players, but you only deserve a championship when you earn it, not when you jump on a band wagon that is already headed there. I guess that since they could not win one on their own, that they would jump on a team that would win one for them. Sure they contribute, but why couldn't they win one with their teams?????? Maybe they are not championship deserving??????? Just a thought!

That's true, 700vtwinman.

Posted by: hammer4

That's how I feel. Lets see how Phil Jackson does coaching the LA Clippers, or Golden State Warriors, etc. for examples, to get them to the NBA Finals. He has been surrounded by top quality players at Chicago, and now LA.

Posted by: hammer4

Graduation year for the LA "Quakers". I believe they will have quite a different look next year.

Posted by: hammer4

Coach Jackson gone, with Shaquille and Kobe to follow. Shaq to Orlando? Kobe To LA Clippers?

Posted by: scrambler123

I don't like the Lakers I just want to see payton and malone get a ring.

Posted by: scrambler123

I wanted miami to win it but thats not an option now. I predict dwayne wade as MVP in the next 3 years.

Posted by: scrambler123

he would have put up a good fight Ron Artest couldn't even slow him down.

Posted by: 1BigDSRider

Just like the San Antonio series. I still think there the team to beat, even with Malone on the bench.

Posted by: 1BigDSRider

Like I said, I think the Lakers are the team to beat. But the Pistons sure came to play.

Posted by: 1BigDSRider

Here comes the tip off. I will take the Lakers by 8. 78-86.

Posted by: 1BigDSRider

See, thats why I dont bet. I would have lost.

Posted by: 1BigDSRider

Yes the Lakers have there share of problems, but Detroit looks like a bunch of thugs. Both Wallaces look like they just got out of prison.

img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">. At least we have ONE good team this year

Posted by: BigBadScrambler

They look better with that championship ring though

Posted by: KGB

Being from Utah, part of me wants to see Karl malone get the ring, but part ofme knows that we always don't get to have what we want. Just because we are rich, and used to geting what we want, does not mean thats always the case.
I hate the effing Lakers. Shaq is 1 foot away from being on welfare (seriously if he was 6'2 300+ punds, he would not even have a job), Kobe has $5million keeping out of prision, Phil Jackson is lame and overrated, and Gary Payton is a sniveling whine ass. Karl Malone (see above).
I used to be a "Showtime" Lakers fan, so naturally I hate the Pistons, well Isiah, Laimbeer, and those jerks. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place on who to cheer for this series.
After watching the first 3 games, I have decided the Lakers feel they got the Championship coming to them, and the Pistons want to take it from the Lakers.
Go Pistons. Screw the Lakers.

Posted by: KGB

How about your man Fox, he did just get out of Prison (OZ)...lol
He does have a hot wife thogh...

Posted by: KGB

Go Fakers!
They were not beaten, they were humilated.
I am so glad Phil,Kobe, Shaq, Gary, and Karl got what their selfish a$$es deserved!
They should have kept Jerry West Around.......

Posted by: MnFriesen

grr lakers suck!!!

ohh yeah...homework sucks too...but today is the last day of school!! then i be educated enuff so they gonne give me a dipploma showing that iz educated now

Posted by: crazyoldfart

yea!!!!!!! the pistons kicked the lakers asssses last night!

Posted by: mdyjeepgrl

GO LAKERS! As rotty said, lets get ready for "another championship." I just hate all them ghetto people that start the riots or doing stupid things just because they win.

Posted by: mdyjeepgrl

Still a big laker fan here. The bandwagon came and went and my feelings are still the same. No doubt about it, the pistons played great and I'm glad they finally have a new banner to put up. It's been so long sicnce they've won that the other banners have faded but seriously, congrats to the pistons although I'd have loved if the lakers won all the way. All us true laker fans will probably be left out in the next year or so, but eventually, they'll come back strong again. They always do!

Posted by: fartman

i said it once and i'll say it again. the lakers are going to win it all. what a playoff set for them, houston was nothing, then the defending champs the spurs, go down two games then come back a win 4 in a row. then the team with the best record in the west, minnesota. and now it is the finals, against the best team in the east. ... they sure can play, when they want to..

Posted by: WheelCow

I was born, raised, and lived the majority of my life in Minnesota. However, I've always been a Lakers fan. I grew up hearing about the Minneapolis Lakers so I became and remained a fan. When the Wolves came along years later I never develpoed and interest in them. Nonetheless, I can't say I enjoyed seeing them lose. But someone had to....

I don't think I saw a single Pistons fan out of those

Posted by: AlphaRaptor660R

Another Lakers fan here! Staples center is about 3-4 miles away from where I live. I'm gonna head down there once the finals begin and enjoy all NBA Finals goodness they have to offer.

Posted by: Quad4Fun

cough cough, aaaaagggggghhhhccccccckkkkkkk, help me I'm chokiiiiinnnnggggggggg. J/K, really

They just flat out got beat by a really good team this year.

Posted by: rotty

YAAHHH!!! Another championship coming soon!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Sorry guys, I couldn't help but post about the Lakers win! I know there probably aren't many Laker fans on this forum, but how many ARE in here?

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Hey Scrambler 123, you will get your wish! Sorry, guys but the east just can't hang with the west. Well, not since Phil Jackson cam here form the east, anyway!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

I've never heard of him, but I don't follow that team, just the ones that put up a good fight with the Lakers

Posted by: Customfabandweld

There are actually quite a number of lakes in the LA area. I can think of at least 10 off the top of my head.

Posted by: Customfabandweld

I'm not jealous about all of your lakes in Minnesota, we have the big drink here! I much prefer fishing in the ocean, anyway. There's nothing quite like being halfway to Catalina in your own boat and have a family of whales surface right next to you!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

How about them Lakers, they are such good sports. Not wanting to seem invinsible, lately, they always spot the other team the first game, sometimes two. I don't think the Lakers can win without first being behind. I'll tell you, that series with San Antonio was one of the most exciting I've seen, and I've watched every Lakers' playoff game since 1986. Go Lakers!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Man!! I wish they would stop waiting until the end of the game to make important shots! Going down 2 games to none would have been tough!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Yeah, 4 in a row, that was awesome! you could have won some serious money in Vegas if you had bet the Lakers would win the next 4 after losing the first 2. Lakers in 6, no problem, this time, too!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Yikes! Detroit has quite a defense don't they

Posted by: Customfabandweld

They were beaten in every aspect of the game, and the Pistons truly deserve the title. I doubt the Lakers could have won it with the Mailman perfectly healthy

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Your team, is really good at being a team, but they are really, really, bag over you face, UGLY!

Posted by: Customfabandweld

Ben Wallace is the only one who can rival Bill Laimbeer's ugliness

Posted by: Customfabandweld

well said DrDune. I will always be a Laker fan. There are no bandwagons in my area. I must admit that it's going to get tough for us (Laker Fans)in the next couple of years..........

Posted by: Crayton8700

YOU CANT HANDLE THE SHAQ ATTACK!!! Lol lets go Lakers.

Posted by: DrDune

Let me jump in here and give a shout out to all the Texas fans out there whom had 3 teams in the playoffs ..... some even had the Lakers swepted after the 2 losses to San An. so heres to getting swept after winning the first 2 games all you Spurs fans.

It is funny how you laker fans were crying last year when the Spurs beat yall on there way to a championship, but when the Spurs lost this year to the lakers, there were no excuses by the Spurs. You should win when you have the Shaq who changes every time he get's the ball under the basket. He lowers his shoulder and plows over whoever is in his way. WOW....can you say charge! But, becuase he is in LA and SOOOOOO big, it is OK for him to charge. I do believe Akaeem showed him the ropes to a four game sweep when shaq was in orlando. Akaeem did it with athelethic ability while shaq just mows people over.....and he can't shoot free throws which should be at lease 70% makable. HMMMMMM.......maybe if someone stood in his way while he was shooting the free throws that he would make more by charging over them.

hr>

Do you really want Shaq to make free throws? I think you don't. The fact is if Shaq made 70% of his free throws thru out his career he would have surpassed Michael Jordan as the highest scorer of all time. Now do you really want that? and ask for the charges he rarely gets called for, Shaq is the most fouled player in history and yet he keeps playing at a high level regardless of 2-3 guys hanging all over him.

Besides didn't all the Texas teams already get eliminated? Call the Spurs Kobe is a free agent next year!!

Posted by: DrDune

Easy there big fellow, no need to get acient about things..... your a basketball historian? wasn't there a point in the history of the NBA when dunking the ball was illegal? and not only that but players would under cut any player going for a dunk after it was made legal?! I know the sport has progressed to a higher level, but I hardly think it's going backwards. There is no "I" in team, but to quote a famous commercial there aint no "we" either. Sorry had to throw that in. Now if you start with the sport has gone black then thats your own quarral. I still think the Lakers rule. Like when Jack Nicholson was asked once are you a Kobe man or a Shaq man? he promtly answered I'm a Lakers man. Yeah!!

OH, they are fixing to come up with excuses why they lost and probably something about the refs. But, the fact is they got their teeth kicked in. I feel sorry for shaq. He was the only reason why they barely hung in there. Kobe was too busy thinking about himself and his last game he might ever get to play in. WOW...the lakers got beat by the pistons and by themselves. Self destructed........img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">hr>

1 (one) Texan talking trash about my Lakers .... go figure. Didn't the LAL take out 2 Texas teams this year? what about Tim Duncan and his bugged out eyes? by the way is that constipation or is he trying to make the David Letterman stupid man tricks?

The band wagon may have one rider but I never jumped on or off! I was always here and still riding.

No excuses, most basketball fans could see the the youth and strenght of the Pistons was over powering the Lakers. No big mystery. So take your 10 gallon hat and take up a collection so you can have one of those 3 Texas teams offer Kobe some money to go play with them.

WOW........what does Tim Duncan and his bugged out eyes have to do with the Lakers lozing????? That has no point at all other than you trying to divert the fact that the lakers got trashed and now all you hear about is the crying and excuses. Give me a brake! Let's see Mr. Phi Jackson go to LA Clippers and win a championship. But, then again, he would not do that because he would actually have to do some coaching to win, since he would not have his team stacked with hall of famers. HaHaHa.........please go cry somewhere in california, I mean cry-a-fornia.

hr>

Please .... Cry-i-fornia that's funny texan clown. Why? are all those streams all dryed up? from all the tears that were shed, gee I don't know.... late April early May when Texas teams where droping like cowboy drawers at a sheep farm. I gave you a break when I first responded but now your just reaching. Can't you read? I said the Pistons out played and out hustled the older Lakers. duh! I can only imagine what they would have done to one of those 3rd rate teams from The Foam star state. Did I hit home when I insulted Tim Funkan? becuase if you saw the games like I did once the "D" was applied he went into a straight funk. But I worry not that's what next year is for, and we shall see what transpiers.

Posted by: 700vtwinman

I would expect the Lakers to win, but only because they are stacked with talent. Everyone says that Phi Jackson is the best coach, but I say let's see how he does on a team like the LA clippers??????? He has always had at least two of the best players on his teams. What about the 1st year the Rockets won? All they had was Akaeme and a bunch of no name players and they won with Ruddy T. as coach. But the lakers have at least 4 hall of famers on their team, so I would expect them to win. But as far as Phi Jackson being the best all time coach.......HAHAHA......He has had his all stars handed to him. Let him go to an average team that has only one all star and see how he does. But, he would never do that, because that would hurt him image!

Yes he gets fouled alot, but most of that is because he PLOWS through the lane and anyone in the way is toast and must foul more for fear of being ran over. I am not knocking the guy. He is a great player, but every since he came into the league, the CHARGING rule has changed. Not on the rule books, but the way it is called for him. If you remember, George Meruason that played was 7'7" and 300lbs, but anytime he plowed into the lane, it was a CHARGE. When shaq does it, it is a foul on the other team or no call. IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND SUPERSTARS THAT DRAW THE MONEY FOR THE OWNERS! People pay to see that stuff. I want to see fair basketball. Think about 15 years ago when palming the ball was called carring. Now days, most of the point guards and shooting guards do that all the time and never get called for it. The league has become a STREET BALL NO FUNDAMENTALS GAME. Soon in a few years, traveling will be 5 stepts instead of 3. It is turning into a watered down street ball trash game and most of the players like Kobe is mostly concerned about themselves. The last time I checked, the word TEAM did'nt have "I" in it. Basketball is the worst sport about players wanting to be "ME" players and not TEAM players. I grew up playing the sport all the way into college, but 15 years ago, it was about the team.
