I'm trying to repair a fiberglass gas tank. I patched it with new glass and resin but as soon as I put fuel in it the gas leaked right out. I don't know if gas eats the resin or what. The repair looked good but wouldn't hold up to the fuel.
Anyone know the correct procedure for repairing a hole in a fiberglass gas tank?

If the tank itself is fiberglass you can use a fuel proof resin and a fine light weight cloth. Good hobby shops will offer such a resin under the name of K&B or any number of other brands. Most body resins and such aren't fuel proof and will be attacked by gas.
Now, if you are trying to repair a polyethylene or polypropylene tank with fiberglass you're wasting your time. As yet there is no adhesive that will work reliably with these compounds. Less trouble and safer to just replace the tank. Wish you luck.
