I run BFG A/T's on my blazer. Let me tell you, those are some TUFF tires!!!! They take a beating and come back for more. Plus they sound MEAN when you light them up

Posted by: BigBadScrambler

I have 30x9.5xR15 tires on my blazer. I have a 1.5" lift in the rear and a 3/4" lift in the front. It sets it about level. The tires ran me $105 each through Discount tire. I feel that unless you are going into some nasty stuff, and spend more time on the road than off, the A/T's are a GREAT tire. I have never gotten stuck. I can go through more in 2wd with these tires than I could in 4wd with my old tires. I have never gotten a flat tire. I have ran over some bad stuff to, and had a nail penetrate the tread bud didnt do a thing. A few weeks ago, I slide around a corner and went to wide. I hit a curb parallel (sp?) to the curb. I hit it perfectly enough to blow the tire off the bead. Took it down to Discount and had them put the bead back on. Didnt even phase the tire. Some tuff stuff

anytime. Also one more thing to kind in mind. Insurance companies have a field day with teens with lifted trucks. MY buddy lifted his Explorer 6" and the insurance company wanted to TRIPLE his insurance. Luckily his motor blew (big surprise) before they could

Posted by: dragracer789

Yes, it will look cool after but be ready for that truck to ride alot worse than it used to. Especially with big tires. Iv owned alot of lifted trucks, and all i can say is Ford sucks and you cant go on long rides comfortably with lifted trucks that much.

Posted by: SuzukiOzark

i have a 92 ranger with a 4 inch suspension lift, it rides great. just put some new Bridgestone dueller M/T 31's on it. tires are awesome and very quiet for a M/T. i dont know it they make those in 35's or not though.

Posted by: wildchild660R

Hey guys. I just got my first truck and have some money to spend so Im gonna lift it but dont how much cuz I havent seen any pics of a lifted truck with 33's. Its a 1975 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4. Anybody got any suggestions or other pics of lifted trucks.

Posted by: wildchild660R

True ... but the pockets of a 16 year old boy are only so deep

Posted by: wildchild660R

Thanks captainquint. It has 33 inch tires right now so Im lookin to maybe lift it 3 or 4 inches to equal it out sorta. I ll get some pics up soon so u can get a better look but the main question of my topic is how much inches of lift with 33 inch tires .... by the way I have about 500 dollars to spend. Id actually like to get some 35's and put a 4 or 6 inch lift on it but thats some $$$

Posted by: wildchild660R

Alright thanks for the ideas and opinions guys and the links pungohboy. By the way that is one sweet truck Polaris500HO

Posted by: wildchild660R

Dragracer I understand what your saying. I test drove a 77 Ford 4x4 with a 6inch lift and 35's ... sweet lookin truck but rode like a covered wagon. But hey it doesnt exactly ride good as of right now so how much worse can it get ... oh wait i probably dont wanna know that answer. Would a 4inch lift look weird or too big with 33 inch tires?

Posted by: wildchild660R

The truck already has these 33 inch kelly safari tires? Dont know if there any good or not but there gettin kind of warn so theres more things I need to know. Whats a good 33 or 35 inch tire and about how much do they run. I found a 4 inch lift kit in the local paper ... says its got blocks springs rancho shocks etc for 200 bucks. Says he paid a total of around 800 bucks for everything so I think Im gonna go pick that up sometime soon.

Posted by: wildchild660R

Thanks again pungohboy. I havent looked much at tires yet because I wanna see what my truck looks like with the 4 inch lift and 33's. If the 33's look to small then I will start shoppin around. I ll get some pics up when its all done.

Posted by: wildchild660R

bigbadscrambler - What size tires or how much were they?

Posted by: wildchild660R

Sounds like some good tough tires. I ll keep them in mind when/if I start shoppin around. Thanks again

Posted by: wildchild660R

Oh man insurance ... Dont know if I hate them or tree huggers more. My insurance is $120 a month since i just got my license but they didnt ask if it was lifted or anything. They know its a 4x4 tho

Posted by: wildchild660R

Any pics seanDyfz ? Hey sounds like we need to make a trip to the oregon dunes. Looks like you got a pretty built yfz.

Posted by: wildchild660R

texasphysco - Yes I believe its a straight axel and I heard they are alot easier to lift. Any idea how much some of those lift kits are runnin? Sounds like you have an insane excursion.

Posted by: BigScary

I really like the BF goodrich Mud Terrains.........
they look mean as hell and grip like a mother.........

Posted by: Diablo

I've got Mickey Thompson baja Radial MTX 31's on my 97 Cherokee, and Pro Comp 35's on my 80 Cherokee, and both brands are make great tires. They'll go through anything! I might throw some BFG MTs on the 97 once I wear out the Mickeys, I hear they're pretty good tires as well.

As far as lifts go, I've never used anything but Skyjacker, and have been very happy, no problems at all. They're a littlle more expensive, but are very good quality lifts.

Posted by: Diablo

Geez Russ7R, remind me not to get on your bad side!(gun collection) I thought I was doing good with my huge collection of three!

Posted by: ZBlaster

for tires get ya some 33x12.50 Super Swamper TSL's they hook up great... for pics of lifted trucks go to truckworld.com

Posted by: Yamaha660R

The bigger the lift and tires, the better it looks.

Posted by: pungohboy

Well your truck should be realitivly cheap to lift. Your best help would probly be go to Offroad.com/chevy and go thier fourms. My 1989 is IFS so suspension for that is atleast a grand to start. i have 3 inch of body on mine and 33's it sits a little taller the tires clear fine. The only thing with body lift is if you do it do it right and raise the bumpers so ther is not much gap. To see pics of my truck check out my site Click I have been a member of offroad.com for a while now and they all are very knowledgeable. If you are new to lifts go there ask questions and learn you will be giving truck advise before you know it. Oh yea if you have a 3/4 ton I would get 35's with 6 inches of suspension you would not have any trouble you probly could clear 35s with 4 inch of suspension with SFA but on a truck like mine with IFS it takes 6.

Posted by: pungohboy

It would fit nice. 4 inch is not huge so 33's will look good. I think 33s are probly the best size if you done want to totaly ride like crap and they are alot cheaper than 35s. what kind of tires are you looking at?

Posted by: pungohboy

That sounds like a good deal. When choosing tires you need to decide what you want to do with them. Are you planning on actually going offroad alot or mostly street use? What kind of terrain off road Mud rocks sand? Tires can run from right at $100 each to alot more than that depending. have you looked at tires at all have any idea what you like. if you want aggressive tire that works offroad and last on road look into the pro comp X terrain. thier mud terrain and all terrain are also good. I ran 33 inch Futura At's on my truck because they were like $80 each from pep boys and had a 50,000 warrenty. some mean off road tires that really dont last long but work awesome offroad are anything by interco super swampers, boggers, thornbirds (not worth the mony not very good tire) etc. Bfg also makes great tires. It is all in what you want to do with them. Post some pics when you can.

Posted by: pungohboy

Yes your truck is straight axle. "SFA" they are really easy to lift springs and blocks. if you were looking to do the kit your self go to skyjackers site or what ever brand you want and see if they have prices if not check like summit and jcwhitney they sell lifts.
TexasPsycho, that is alot of lift. do yoe even get miles per gallon or is it gallons per mile? I sure hope you got the power stroke not the V10 in there. Got any pics?

Fork lift lol j/k
Thats a nice truck !

I have 4" on my 03 F350...I have two pictures of it in my gallery. Anything more you cant really use the box for much.

Good luck.

I'd go with a 4" suspension lift, not to tall but will look great with you're 33's. I had a 79 Chevy with this setup and it looked really clean, very easy to install, blocks in the back and springs up front. Then when these tires wear out you could even go up to 35" or 36" tires

After making more than my share of big and costly mistakes when it comes to lifting and modifying trucks here is some free advice…take if for what it is worth.

If you are going to lift it make sure it is done right. Half assed homebuilt lift kits or ones from less than reputable manufacturers are poor riding, poor performing and in many cases downright dangerous. Remember you more than likely will have to change brake lines and might dick around with the drive shafts to get the angles right. Also when you step up in tire size more than a few inches a ring and pinion swap is in order. A whole can of expensive worms is opened when you start lifting trucks. If you don&39;t need it for tire clearance or increased travel and performance don&39;t lift it. Saves money and all sorts of headaches.

My personal guide for tires is on a ½ ton is 33 or maybe a 36 if it has been strengthened significantly. For ¾ ton you can get away with a 36. I&39;ve run a 40 with no major problems if it wasn&39;t pushed too hard but a 44 broke parts right and left.

Congratulations on your truck! That Chevy should be a great first truck to mess around with and learn with. I&39;ll bet you could get a set of 33s on easily. My first truck was a 77 Ford ½ ton and I ran a set of BFG 33s with zero problems except for a very slight rub at full compression. Stick with a little smaller tire and you won&39;t lose much acceleration and won&39;t have to mess with a gear swap. Maybe you could just cut the fenders and put on some fender flares, get a good wide set of 33s under it and not have to worry about lifting it for now. You would have a “bigger” look on a budget.

Try to do stuff in stages as your budget will allow and most of all HAVE FUN!

your 75' is a straight axle right? a 4" lift from superlift or skyjacker would be easy and look good. the lift should come with everything to keep your axle geometry correct. when you do get ready to buy tires you might look at boggers. hteir agresive but will work great in mud, best i've found so far. right now i'm running 44'' boggers with 21'' lift on my excursion. been on it for two years and haven't broke anything yet.

i think i'm the only person alive without a digital camera. it gets about 8 to 9 mpg with the V-10. the V-10 has some pretty good torque but i helped it a little with a kennybell supercharger, headers, gibson exhaust and a chip. so far the farthest i have drove it was to houston and back, about 500 miles round trip and didn't have any problems. a 4" lift will run you about $1500 to $2000 if done right. you will need the lift, perferably all springs no blocks, new pitman arm, shocks, steering stabilizers and to do it right you need to beef up the area that your steering box mounts to, dual front shocks help a lot and a good front end alignment. some of that year model trucks can get away with using the same brake lines but some need to be replaced with longer ones and the same goes for the drive shafts. it really doesn't cost much to lengthen the drive shafts at a machine shop my cost me $45 a piece. you can get by going the cheaper route but the truck will handle a lot better doing it right and be safer. don't skimp on the drive shafts, you don't want the front shaft pulling loose when your in the middle of a mud hole or while your going down the hwy.
