In all honesty, if you are just turning 16 and will be getting your first car/truck. Get something CHEAP and dependable. I know you dont want to hear this but you will be an inexperienced driver ( even if you have driven around farms etc) and chances are you will have at least a minor accident in the near future. Pick a car/truck that is common and inexpensive to maintain. This rules out a dodge stealth, the rx7 LOL. You will want something that is cheap to INSURE. You may laugh at the suggestion of a GEO or civic but IMHO thats some of the best advice I have read. These cars are cheap to maintain, insurance is reasoanable and they get very good gas mileage. Ive not looked up the figures but the Geo probably gets in the neighbourhood of 40mpg, a pick will give you 22mpg if you are lucky and dont drive it into headwinds LOL.Dont be in a rush to impress the ladies by getting something you cant afford to drive, get something practical and it will pay off in the long run. Besides 16yr old girls will ride in a rusted out VW rabbit if it means not having to ask their parents for a ride LOL. With $15000 you wont be able to afford to buy,maintain,and insure a new vehicle without help from parents so take this into account too. Try to find a 2-3 yr old vehicle,perhaps a nice lease return and you will be much better off. Lease returns are generally well maintained and low mileage so your upkeep should be minimal for the first couple years.

Good luck finding a descent old Dodge like a Charger, they are in demand big time.
If you want a truck, find a nice 99 or newer Dakota with the 4.7L V8. They put most any other truck to shame (not including the Lightning or other special models) and can be found for 15 or less if you look

A few things to consider. What is the weathe rlike where you live? Does it snow there? The muscle cars and fancy jap cars dont do to good in the snow. Also, is gas mileage a consideration. If it is, count a muscle car out of the question. HOw about insurance. The insurance company will absolutely RAPE a 16 year old with a sports car or anything with lots of power. I pay over $1g a year just for PLPD on my Blazer!!. Also, how about reliabliliy? Count the RX7 out of that. Those motor just dont last. The Stealth is faster than the 3000GT, cuz it is lighter. Do you want something practical, or just fast? Do you want to be able to carry your quad? With those considerations, MY choices would be a late 90's Dodge Ram, a mid 90'd twin turbo stealth, or a 69 Hemi Charger (or 440 6 pack) or a 70 or 71 Challenger or Cuda with a big block.

When I was in high school last year, I went to a trades skill center to and took an Automotive class. We had a 99(?) Dodge Dakota R/T with a 360 V8 in it. I got to "pull the truck around" a few times. That thing would absolutely RIP!!!!! The tires would light up with very minimal throttle inputimg src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> It would be better if it had a 5 speed though

PUSHINTHELIMIT- I have a 86 elcamino body (looks like yours almost) Its on a 4+4 frame, with a BIG lift kit. Its got complete 4-wheel drive. 36 inch tires tires. And best of all its got a 396 big block bored to 402. Il get some pictures and PM you.

Dude buy yourself something that is gonna do all the things you need to do. You got a quad right? Get something that will either have your quad in the bed of the truck or something that you can use to tow a trailer. When I was 16 all I wanted was a pickup so I could go 4 wheelin and I could get in to places that a car wouldn't go. But that is me. Think about it, chances are you are going to beat the living crap out of this vehicle. Don't spend all the money on a "SWEET" car, cause it may not last you that long. IMO get an old pickup and fix it up, then the girls will really like you when you pull up to school in a sweet old truck with a quad in the back.

Sweet man! My Dad has another Elcamino with a 500HP 350 bored to a 355. It's got a tunnel ram with 2 big ass carbs sticking about a foot out of the hood LOL!!

Ok bud, im not one of those snot nosed teen punks just cause i like a fast import, even if you werent directing this to me. and the only people that i know that has those 5 inch rims that stick out a foot from the fender, and have holes drilled in the exhaust are those boarder jumpers, so dont stereotype all us teens with them.
And to give you some advise sexy beast as you call yourself, $10000-$15000 isnt going to buy you a supra, get a Yugo.

Well, I think that a High School Pimp, like your self, should buy my 1981 Chevy K204x4. It runs perfect, a little rusty, but only $1700.00. That ought to put your ego in check, and make you realize you are not quite the pimp you think you are (the real High School Pimps are seniors....lol).
Just Playin, but seriouly, the biggest mistake I made in vehicle purchasing was thinking I was a High School pimp and getting over my head in debt. High School is for Pimpin' not being a slave to work and truck payments.

get a domestic truck with a v8 under the hood. If you want a sporty truck to haul your quad with I would suggest a dodge dakota with the 5.9 under the hood. Get some flowmasters, a stereo, rims, and tires and call it done. If you have the chance to pick up a ford lightning for under $15000 forget about the dakota and pick up the lightning. You will have one of the fastest cars at your high school. You will get raped by insurance companies if you get the lightning though.

Anyway, if you want to go fast look for a Cyclone or Typhoon(sp) If you really want a ricer look for something like we have around here, a Dodge Neon with Twin Turbos and a Supercharger. But on the other hand, if your not like that, then get a real car, mid to late 90's Camaro or Trans Am, or what would be cool would be a late 80's Chevy Blazer 88-91 (full size with the removable top), put a little lift on and wala. Or better yet, if you have that much moolaa to spend, get a late 80's Camaro and a late 80's Blazer and have both.

Dude, get a nice 1/2 ton pick-up. For the amount of money you have to spend, you can get a pretty nice one. You've got to haul the quad y'know. Put the money into a nice set of wheels and tires, a stereo, and a trailer hitch. (you may want to haul more than one quad once in a while!) Leave the motor alone and maintain it! Chicks come-n-go, but riding never leaves the system. Set yourself up for you!

HAH Come on people lets see here. I still say get a truck (96-98 Z-71 maybe?). But if you want a fast car do the following: Buy a 95-97 Camaro Z/28 with the L-T1 with 275hp stock for about $5,000-$7,000, with the rest of the money spend it on the engine and tranny. Upgrade that L-T1 and that bitch will HAUL with a 6 speed. Supercharger, exhaust, maybe a paint job if it might needs one? I mean THINK about stuff like that, have a very fast sports car and spend half the price and out run a new sports car.
