No way Jose'... tOSU will prove once again that Tressel is the best big game coach in the land.
Posted by: 01ds650
Yes tOSU lost to scUM but scUM is a very good team this year that plenty of people picked to win the NC. Even goofy Lee Corso said it would be LSU vs dUMb. He was very close. Besides even with Coopers pathetic record against scUM the last 50 years the series is even. The last consesus NC for scUM was 1947... so I feel OK, even though tOSU can't repeat now.
I think USC is good, but beat on weak pac-ten teams. If scUM plays USC like they played the Bucks & Purdue then I believe scUM wins the Rose. I hope the Big Ten wins the ESPN bowl trophy again! Yes the Big Ten is weak they all say.... Why then last year did the 6th & 7th place Big Ten teams beat the SEC & Big12 runners up in bowl games???
The Big Ten is held to a higher standard period. Nobody & I mean NOBODY does it better than scUM & tOSU every year in Nov.
FWIW, I was at the Shoe a year ago when the Bucks beat scUM 14-9. That's my favorite game BR>
I agree, go Big 10

My point was scUM has the best PR dept. in the NCAA.
You'd think they had the best winning % since the beginning of major conference play or something. No wait... tOSU does...!
The only reason scUm got a share of the title was to prove next years BCS was needed.
Everyone knew NU was a better team.
Besides last year tOSU beat the "unbeatable" the streak of 34 in a row etc.
I always give you guys credit though. You guys are the original scUM. Cryami is just a cheap ripoff, A scUM of the south if you will.
Ever notice that "the game" seems to be scUM trying to ruin another great tOSU season. I actually wish scUM was a better team. It would be nice to be able to play loose with nothing to lose & everything to gain by beating a better team & ruining their chances at an NC. Oh well, we will continue to play for chances at the NC & you guys can continue to try to spoil tOSU's good seasons instead of having any yourselves.

Please 11 NC's. From 1901??? From who? Not the AP ! What sharing NC's with up to 5 teams!!!!??? including tOSU. (Which tOSU doesn't even count because they aren't that desperate) If it makes you feel good beating on the sisters of the poor & high school teams for your history go ahead. You are really reaching. It makes you look desperate. Most of scUM history is just that, history.
Here is a great story. On the way to a game in Chicago scUM gets off the train in South Bend IN. They round up some guys & explain the game of football to them. Next thing you know Notre Dame knows football. Great story right? Except for the fact scUM counts games like that as a win! Lets go beat on some people who have never played football & call it a win. That is kinda sad really, but whatever it takes to make you feel good. Your schedule back then was worse than MN's is today!
Also, Cooper was the one who couldn't handle pressure. You'll remember both Woody & Earl had winning records against scUM.
How many "real" NC's did Bo win? (not counting games against blind schools of course)
You can polish your "attendance championship" trophys from the dump called the pig house, tOSU can polish their "real" NC trophys.

I do believe that OU belongs in the game. They lost yes, but the SOS is better. With that said tOSU was screwed in '98. They lost to MSU, but FSU lost to NC State. FSU got the nod to play UT because of the Florida media love. "pretty football" Joe Pa said that the '98 OSU team was the best he'd seen in 50 years, yet they get overlooked by FSU. The media love for these pretty teams like USC is sickening.
As far as the all time record against scUM I believe tOSU lost the first 16 games right? Back before football was a sactioned sport @ tOSU. tOSU didn't even join the Big 10 until like 1912. So that's most of them. Yes scUM was a great team in 1899 (when the Big 10 started) I'll give you that & yes they did win those games. But be serious, can a school really have pride in beating high schools & unsanctioned groups of guys who agree to play an organized group of people on a college level 90 years ago????
Take it however you can get it I guess.
As far as KSU. They worry me. They are a good team who has everything to gain by beating tOSU. tOSU on the other hand was looking forward to playing Cryami again or Texas as a prelude to the home & away series in 05 & 06. KSU is kind of a disappointment in tOSU eyes, I hope Tressel can get the Bucks up for the game.

OZ, Then how about a truce.
I'll quit.
As far as the Big 10 it's record year. 8 teams in bowl games. Fact is except for the 3rd week in Nov I always cheer for dUMb.
I really wanted the Bucks to play Cryami again after scUM put the kabosh on tOSU's back to back title hopes. I just want to see Yellin Winsblow get taken out. It's a shame it happened to McGahee & Dorsy instead. I just can't stand the "chosen one".
I think PU & Wisky will have their hands full & I really can't see NU beat BGSU, but who knows. Maybe another ESPN bowl trophy.
If dUMb plays USC like they played tOSU (very strong on the O-line) I think they win. Those pretty teams just can't take getting hit over & over. ie, Cryami last year.
USC sure is a cocky team considering anymore than they have done the last 20 years....

OZ,
check this out!
Carr

yeah no kidding. He's on the feild more than some players. I doubt he'd have the success he's had elsewhere. scUM has the talent to bail the guy out. Kinda like Cryami & Larry Coker.
I'm sure you can think of some people to "make talk" right???
Posted by: 01ds650
no, no, no. not a grad of tOSU (THE Ohio State University) My student loan was late (my fault) & now I work a decent paying but meaningless job....oh well.
"Make talk", I just meant that budlight webpage, that is all.
I've got to go. My tight, fly ride is wanting me to rotate the tires & rollout to mac on those honeys with badunkadunk butts.
Posted by: 01ds650
How 'bout them Buckeyes! Sproules held to 38 yards, Roberson running scared & Bill Snyder horribly outmatched by the Tressinator.
a top 3 finish perhaps?
To the OB we go in 05....

Its good to see a healthy Rivalry between two GOOD teams.
OKLAHOMA has nothing to appologize for as far as where they are playing. Why should playing(and loosing) in a Conference Championship game deminish what the sooners had done in the regular season 12-0 who else did that??? thats right nobody! If you ask me the team that cam out smelling like a ROSE is USC!!! First they dont have to play the SOONERS for the National Championship. SECOND they basically get a HOME game agianst Michigan. And third they get the LUXURY of having a share in the NC if they win (which is BS!)
Oklahoma screwed themselves by not beating KSU. Now they have to play LSU which IMO is a much a better team then USC, simply becuase they have a great defense, AND now they have to beat LSU in thier backyard!! Oklahoma fans got 16,000 tickets given to them, and LSU got 16,000 tickets. The rest of the tickets where givien to season ticket holders of the Saints, and louisiana government officials which are SCALPING the hell out of the tickets, which is ILLEGALBR>
Anyway, I wouldnt pay to much attention to ESPN, they are BIASED and are after Ratings....
Hiesman trophy----(best Player)-Jason white(oklahoma sooners)
lambardi trophy--(best linebacker)----teddy lehman(oklahoma sooners)
--Best defensive lineman-- Tommy Harris----(Oklahoma sooners)
Best defensive back--(Oklahoma sooners)
OKlahoma sooners had more ALL-Americans then any other team this year.
So to all that say that thier not good enough to play for the NC you should'nt define the Sooners season on one game. Those guys worked hard to get these TOP honors, and they deserve to play.
Bigger.

I know we have some OU fans on this site, so I just need to take this opportunity to rub it in a little. BR>I knew it could happen.
Sproles for Heisman!

OU does belong in the Sugar Bowl. Period. Had their loss been at the beginning of the season, everybody would still be saying they're the best. Besides, they lost to a team that really hit their stride after some injuries and once the defense got it together.
USC lost to Cal. They're not even ranked!! They are exactly where they belong- the Rose Bowl. Where UM will win and finally shut up all of the sportscasters.
I'm not a huge fan of the BCS system, but I'm sure glad it's in place this year. Without it, the finiky polls would put the wrong teams in a championship game.
I think they killed my thread by moving it to this forum.
Posted by: bigben
sandneck-- In a playoff system, it would still be possible to win a National Championship without winning a conference. There aren't enough conferences for each one to just send one team.
Posted by: POLARISFREAK
I'll give it up to them, they showed up ready to play and dominated the sooners! Just makes you wonder how good they would have been if Roberson hadn't of gotten hurt. Hopefully the Sooner can rebound for the national championship and the Wildcats can thrash Ohio State in the fiesta bowl!
Posted by: POLARISFREAK
Oklahoma belongs just as much as USC or LSU, the fact that there isn't a playoff system is a crime and hopefully this will lead to at least a 4 team playoff with the top 4 bcs teams. USC's weak schedule is what cost them, that and a loss to a sorry Cal. team early in the season. So when OU beats LSU and Michagan takes care of USC all will be well!
Posted by: POLARISFREAK
Cedric I was wondering if you cared about football, know I know. It'll be a great game, but you'll be a little sad with the outcome. haha
Posted by: POLARISFREAK
Couldn't have said it better Big Ben and the K-State Wildcats will thump Ohio State just like they did OU!
Posted by: POLARISFREAK
OU deserves it just as much as the others. All conferences should have a title game or all conferences shouldn't have a game. With the bcs setup the way it is OU and LSU make it. It is unfortunate for USC, we'll know more after the games are played as to who deserved it and who didn't!
Posted by: KGB
OU does not desereve the title game. They are not even conference champs.
It should be a playoff, as we all agree, but NO WAY A TEAM WHO CAN'T EVEN WIN THEIR CONFERENCE!
K State should be there over OU, and LSU.
Posted by: KGB
My point is that you punish USC for having a weak schedule (BYU, Notre Dame were both good teams when they scheduled them), you should punish OU for losing a conference title.
I think there is no way to take the human factor out, so the best bet would be to have all conference champs play in a playoff, you will have to let the humans decide seating, but the conferenced should chose to have a conf. title game, or just a reg, season champ. You can never have a 64 team tourn like basket ball, it would take 2 months to play it out. It wil have to be a 10 or 12 team playoff. Max.
What they should do, is have the winner of OUvLSU play USCvMU winner.

Does November 22nd ring a bell? Go BLUE! Although Tressel is a good coach with an excellent record. I respect what he's done with the Ohio State program since replacing John Cooper.
Oklahoma doesn't belong in the national championship game, period. LSU and USC should be playing. OSU had their butts kicked by 4 TD's? Come on, that's a thumping. The best quote I saw on Yahoo sports was "The easiest way to answer the question of who should be invited to the national title game is to tell whom, unequivocally, should not. That would be the team that got waxed by four touchdowns on Saturday, couldn't win its conference and fooled us all into believing it was invincible by crushing a bunch of sorry teams from Texas. "
Ohio State will show that the Big XII had a bunch of mediorce teams. Michigan has their hands full with the Number 1 team in the nation. Go Big Ten!
Posted by: TheOz
Come on, that's exactly what I would expect from a Buckeye fan. Who cares about the Wolverines last consensus NC? The Huskers won a game vs. Missouri on an illegal play in 97'. If the Wolverines would have played the Huskers that year, I'm confident they win outright. The Huskers were lucky to jump when they did. Considering UM beat a good WSU team in the Rose Bowl.
I was at the BIG HOUSE for the UM/OSU game in 1997, one of my favorites I may add!
Go Blue!
Posted by: TheOz
Another OSU fan pop'ing off. UM ruining OSU's season? The Bucks get to the last game and get beat by a better team. It's that simple. The Luckeyes can't handle the heat when they play Michigan. I see you're bitter, just relax.
You can go back 50 seasons, I'll give you the entire picture. Series Record: Michigan leads 57-37-6 (2003).
Going back to 1901, Michigan has been recognized with 11 shared and/or outright national championships. You should know the information before sharing it.
Divison 1-A Winning Percentage Ranks

AT: All I ever hear from people in Ohio is a loud sucking sound. You didn't address the 57-37-6 record vs. your Buckeyes? Nuff said, the math answers all questions!
Posted by: TheOz
AT: 100 years ago or today, it's still football. I think all Wolverine fans are proud of the program from day one through their last game. I also have the highest respect for the OSU program. I'm not knocking the programs as you are. It's a great sports rivalry and I think we all enjoy the last game of each season (win or lose). I watched a few Woody/Bo games with my grandfather when I was a boy. Great memories from those days. Woody was a great coach. Bo was a good coach; he just couldn't get the team over the top. Here's some great information from these two coaches. Woody vs. Bo
I have a good friend and colleague who is a OSU graduate. We've had a lot of fun over the past ten years. Last year I was at his house watching the Bucks take care of the Hurricanes. I was pumped that a big ten team had a chance to win a NC. I was almost as fired up as Kurt was during the game. I'll also be rooting for the Bucks to beat KSU in the Fiesta Bowl this season as well.
Go Big Ten!
Posted by: TheOz
AT: That's cool and the gang. It's easy to get fired up and emotional over this game, esp. the team we love to watch. As I get older, I try to sit back and evaluate the team based on how they play. I try not to let my emotions for the team skew my thoughts. UM shouldn't have had the brain fart against Oregon. Iowa was the fault of the special ed (I meant teams) coach. It was the strangest punt formation anyone in college football has ever seen. Not once, but five times they lined up like they were a high school freshman team punting the ball.
Posted by: TheOz
I do think Lloyd whines more then he should. Rumor has it he'll be retiring in 05. I think he's a good coach, not great. Although he has one national championship (co-champ) under his belt.

You're not an blOwSU grad are you? I'm not hip with the following sentence:
I'm sure you can think of some people to "make talk" right???
My ten year old neighbor kid was over checking out Need For Speed - Underground on the XBox. She was telling me how "tight" the cars were. I must be aging...
