I started off shining shoes and I hated it, but loved the money because it fed my dirtbike habit and produced a work ethic that stayed with me for life.

I used to hate my job, so I left. Havn't worked in 8 months. Might start looking pretty soon. My wife thinks both of us should be working.

My brother is the only person I know who LOVES his job. He is a Salt Lake County Sheriff. He improves the quality of life for all who live in this valley. Police Officer of the Year in 2001 and was number 2 in the nation the same year. Shot two armed bank robbers trying to take a female teller hostage 4 days before Christmas. 90% of hostages taken from the crime scene die. They didn't listen. Don't - - - - with my brother.

If work was fun then they wouldnt pay us, or at least pay us as much. And if we all had our dream jobs, who would clean up after the party was over??? In fact, who would design/make/sell/ship/resell/install/maintain the things we need for the party?

only two days before a ride weekend.

I used to hate my job

so I quit

Now I like my job

It would be easier to ask who likes there job.

Well when you're 16 the only job you can possibly find is hell!! Get minimum wage for busting a$$. Then the little money I do make all has to go for my DS650... I still got about $2300 left to go. But I hope to trade my DS in on something else soon.

Shady, you always crack me up. When are we going to meet up for a weekend dune trip.?
I hate my job too. I have a great job, I am a salesman, have a good product, good territory, make my own hours for the most part, and I still hate my job. I wonder about guys like Selector's dad and mine, and I wonder if something is wrong with me?
Then I realized, thats why they pay me to show up!

Hate my job? lmao! It's like a big suck hole. Everytime I walk into this place I feel more of my life being sucked out. Life sure goes by fast when your living for the weekends. What really drives me crazy are the optimist who will try to tell you how good you have it and that there are a lot of people who don't have it as good. OK, maybe so but that doesn't change how I feel. Somebody let me off of this F#cked up spinning rock!

In high school I worked at a chicken ranch, picking eggs. It was the most dirty, smelly, horrible low grade job in the world. Worked on Christmas day, and New Year's day. Eggs never stop coming. But it fed my habits, and when the lumber business sucks I do remember what else is out there and where I've been.

But we all dream about being like the guys you see on Discovery Channel, doing what you love and working 65 happy hours a week because it's your passion, and the wealth comes in as a side effect.

Those people are usually the risk-takers, who have failed several times before, and kept their chin up through some real crap. Almost all the rich people I've known have earned it. Enough philosophy, it's too cold to ride and I'm drinking Shady Ale.

Glad to hear you are content with your new trade. Having worked at a few different factories myself, I definitely know where you're coming from.

Ahhh, to be 16 again, live it up, bro!

Hey Texas,

I'm in the electrical racket too, on the construction/engineering side. We deal mostly in the oil and gas industry (offshore). I've been with my company now for nearly 9 years and I can safely say that this current project I'm on is the absolute worst I've ever worked on. Nobody here is in the lead .. we've got a fellow over from the UK who's getting paid more per day than most of the rest of us get in a week, to be the project manager. He doesn't have a clue what managing a job is about it seems. You never know he's there unless you go ask him a question. The answer to your questions from him almost invariably is "I honestly don't know" .. and we're paying you for WHAT again???

It's probably the second time in 9 years that I've contemplated leaving the company. I usually like my job, but I hate this one!!

Glad to hear you're at least getting paid well!!!

L8rs all!

They say that 75% of working Americans are like you and me.

I'm not rich enough to just walk away and try something else or to go out on my own, but mentally, I'm bored stiff working for "someone". I grew up w/ a dad that loved what he did and worked (7) day/week. Hell, he didn't retire until this year - he's 73. I would love to have a job I loved even if it meant being there 6-7 days/week rather than this.

Anybody need a project manager to run your construction project?

As funny as that is, it's also sorta sad - you know what I mean.

You a member of AK-47.net also? Fred cracks me up. He's such a troll. But he's funny at times. Gotta love that purple shotgun! What handle do you go by over there? I use the same handle as here: DEMag.

I use to like my job a lot better than I do now. It's at that point where it's boring...I just can't leave it though, cuz I have my bills to worry about....So I don't know..maybe I'll have a career change later on..

Lot of electricians in here. I'm an apprentice IBEW Wireman and I can honestly say that I really enjoy my job. I haven't been in the trade that long but it's a complete 180 from having hated my previous job. For two years I would stay up late not wanting to go to sleep because I knew that when I woke up at 4am I'd have to go into work. I made barely over minimum wage and worked 7 10's for 2 years straight (christmas day off) just to pay bills/college. It was a factory that could pass for a sweat shop. I hated the dangerous, dirty, oily conditions, the weld-smoke filled air, the unwashed people that I worked around and the fact that my yellow toothed boss used to always hit on my g/f (she worked in the main office). I hated every single day of my life for two years, a hate that I still have trouble describing to people. That's pretty much when I knew that that was as low as I would get. I figured, barring venereal disease or disfigurement, my life was about as bad as it was going to get. So I can look back at that and just remember that... it could be alot worse.

Hey Fellas and DancinQueen,
I am also an electrician,I do 65% residential and 35% commercial. I have been doing this for 17 years and I am really getting bored!!! If it ain't the electrical inspectors coming up with something new all the time it's 1000 code changes every year and than we here in KY have to have 6 hours of classes and $500 to get our state-wide electrical license each year!! It SUCKS!!!!!!

HI Dancingqueen BR>I am still going to put sand tires(pronounced "tars" KY style) on my ForeMan and rip up some dunes with ya!! ha ha

not bored yet, so its ok. well other than dirt, noise, too hot or cold. it could be worse.

Posted by: AnimalAl

I've worked at three jobs in the last 10 years after school. I hated one and liked two. By the way I'm an electrician, the only difference between happiness and pure agony was the people that I worked for and with.

Posted by: TexasPsycho

maybe it's just me but i have been at the same job for over 15 years and man have i started hating it the last few years. just getting bored. i do electrical work and work on turbin engines but the only thing i look forward to now is the weekend. during the week i am on call and might get called back to the plant anytime of the day or night, or that dreaded 2am call! the pay is great, the benefits are great and for the most part my co-workers are great but after 15 years you just start thinking their's got to be something better out there? i don't plain on changing jobs this late mainly because i would be crazy to throw away a job that pays this good and one that i can f#@* off on the internet like i do sometimes, like today. but i just wonder sometimes how many other people feel this way about thier jobs?

Posted by: TexasPsycho

anyone else thats posted in the oil field besides NLWarrior? man i would love to work offshore if i didn't have kids, at least for a few months. wouldn't have top worry about the wife, she would probably leave if i stayed gone that long. i work in a gas plant. we don't produce anything but instead strip the liquids from the gas stream and sell them(propane, ethane and such) when i'm not bored stiff or haveing to pull 20 or 30 hrs straight it's actually pretty interresting. we have five cryo systems that operate down to 75deg below zero and i get to work on turbin engines, same as jet engines. but man after 15 years you just start wondering. kinda like the old cow looking at the grass on the other side of the fence, still taste the same but sure looks better. i know what your saying about the bar being a good support group but those sorry suckers arnt there the next day to support me when my eyes feel they are going to pop out of my head and my head feels like a midgit is pounding on it with a hammer

Posted by: TexasPsycho

one thing i have found out over the years is the more i make per hour the more i seem to owe??? the toys just keep getting more expensive. i don't want to go back but when i first got married i worked construction making $5.00 per hr and i was happier and had no stress. man if it wasn't for excedrine i wouldn't make it to the weekend. like i said though i'm not stupid enough or rich enough to give up this living h*##. it ain't 3:30 yet?

Posted by: TexasPsycho

i'd like to be a gaurd in an all womans prison i have a friend thats is, but she's also a woman! i think she injoys it too though

Posted by: TexasPsycho

i just want to watch naw the further i stay from those places the better. when i was young i think they were getting a room ready for me. thank god i met my wife and she straightend me out, somewhat! i have a cousin that was close to me back then and he does have room and board at huntsville for about another 10 years. we were at a bar when we were in out early twenties. there was a man there that was determined to start a fight with my cousin and my cousin was always willing to go along with a fight. the other man threw the first punch but during the fight my cousin gave him a round house and it landed just right to kill the man. he's been in over 15 years so far and can't keep out of trouble in there. naw i really don't care about being around female prision. in real life the inmates never are as good looking as the ones on tv amd movies.

Posted by: MartyLey

Can't say as I really hate my job. Just some of the folks I work with. They kinda get to ya after 21 years working with them, convicts I mean. I'm a Sergeant in the Texas Prison System. Some day I'll retire and tell my grand kids stories. I do wish the pay was better. But, who doesn't.

Posted by: MartyLey

TexasPsycho, one of the units I work at is all female. I got to tell ya, you have never seen a more scuzzy bunch of women in your whole life. They are far worse than men to deal with. They'd just as soon slit your throat as look at you. And, they are far more manipulative than men. You certainly wouldn't want to fool with any of them, if you know what I mean. For one thing you don't know what kind of disease they might have. And, for another, if you get caught it is a felony here in Texas. Go to jail, do not pass go.
