i believe those speeds were "theoretical" speeds because no one could hold on i imagine much after 200 mph....

Check this out.
$550,000!! for an engine on wheels crazy! I remember the dodge reps. saying it was capable of speeds in excess of 400mph.
Which is horsesh!t as that is impossible for an un-enclosed vehicle. it sure would be cool to take one for a spin though

You are correct. I have never seen Terrible Herbst run an actual race, but I have seen it at an off road show in California a few years ago.
The owner fired it up and took it for a spin around the parking lot, and it was amazing. I would love to someday ride in or drive one of those incredible vehicles.

Lots of people dream of getting in one of these cars, but sad to say, for most it will only be a dream. Oh well! One thing that I have learned in life is "dreaming is fun, sometimes even more fun than the real thing".
