Lots of transients out there.... They come out onto the beach to party and raise heck. They don't bring wood as they can just rob from the nearest camp wood pile. These are the same looser phucs that usually litter at comp hill and also leave bags of garbage at their camp sites when they leave. We had our wood stolen one time. It was about 1pm one night, we woke up and saw 3 guys on quads loading up our wood, driving to their camp and dumping it. I think they were on their 3rd trip when we went out to catch them. When we confronted them they just sat back on their quads about 60 ft way talking smack. One of our guys threw a shovel toward them which didn't even get within 20ft of them. They rode off and the next thing you know here come the rangers. Stories were told, and low and behold our wood was brought back to us and the guys were kicked off the beach. The rangers said this was the 3rd incident with these morons.

I have a better idea....set out some cans with watered down gas or perhaps a degreaser mixed in it or something that would trash an engine....let them steal it. *Evil grin

I often leave stuff out just to be stolen.
I had some oil that had water in it. Had a 5 gallon jug of the stuff. The auto parts stores wont take it w/ water in it.

Left in in the bed of my pickup at work and sho'nuff it disapeared.

I usually leave one can not cabled mixed with sugar just for some great people like that . You steal it you deserve it . and i have seen the culprit cussing trying to figure out what the hell happened and we all knew it ,serves em right .

That sucks. You should take some nice big dogs a few bear traps.BR>But I like dbeck's idea. I was in Laughlin this past weekend with some sea doos and
and our buddys had sea doos as well. Some low-life stole all 4 of there gas cans which
were all filled. I hate those S.O.B

We were there last weekend. The kids in a neighboring camp got busted for stealing wood at night from another camp. They didn't arrest them (the evidence is all burned up), but they made them pack up and leave early. I have to say that I have never had anything stolen anywhere I have ever camped. I always chain the bikes up at night, but the other stuff (riding gear, gas cans, etc.) just lays around and anybody could take it.

One more story. I did have somebody steal a gas can off my trailer while it was parked on the street. Thing was, it had a mix of pump gas and VP C12 race gas. Now, C12 has lead in it. If they put it in their car, it will poison the catalytic converter. Next time they get smog checked, I hope they have to buy a nice new expensive catylitic converter!!!

It was probably someone from a local gas station trying to drum up business. Just look for the people with the largest storage space for gas. What would someone do with 20 gallons of gas in a limited amount of time? It's probably best to run a cable or something through the handles. Tight so it's hard to dump the gas into another container on the spot.

dbeck-LOL! awesome idea! That'll teach em!

Posted by: hotseatperformancefan

what you do is you run a cable through them then run the cable around a part of your tent and when you feel the tent moving at night u got a problem to take care of.

Posted by: anyrider00

Wow i hope you catch them...

Never had a problem at pismo but a cable through the bikes and cans anyway is a good idea. Especially the last month when half of cali has been there.

For all who camp at Pismo, lock your sh** up! We had 9 full cans of gas stolen out of our trailer the first night there. We followed tire tracks through the fresh sand at 5am. The tracks went through every campsite especially those who camped on the edge of the shore. We were able to recover most of the cans at the police station. They had found 20 empty cans thrown under the freeway underpass. Low lifes. We will catch them someday. We run a cable through everthing now.

Yeah dbeck thats a good idea!
