what kind of terrain we talking here:? dirt, sand, rock? for the sand, id have to give to nod to the auto, constant power to the ground(always beeing in the right gear) is better than shifting between gears, ya, you can feather the clutch, but only so much, sooner or later you will have to shift...and when that time comes, unless you have good speed, all you will do is spin tire....... in all other conditions id give it to a skilled rider on a manual anyday.

Manuals are a 100 times better, if you start losing steam you can fan the clutch a bit and build up more power. Opposted to an auto where ummm......you're screwed!

If you are talking about the kind hillclimbing i am thinks. You will need a sport quad like a 400ex,raptor,banshee,or 250R something like that. But i think the maunal would do alot better.

def. a automatic because you can actually concentrate on what your doing not the 4wheeler ive tried to feather the clutch once on a manual but it died and thats what i call screwed!!!watched it roll on down too!!....to steep for brakes....im not a skilled manual rider though so that may of helped if i was.....but a automatic 4x4 is the best way to go....flying up hills is never really a good idea...youll lose traction and then your really screwed its better to just take it slow and power your way up!!
