You should have said "No, But I am a police officer". This line really gets rid of the undesirables and the looky loo's fast. Leaving you with the people responsible enough to help out.

as a mechanic, maybe you could adjust your timing

Last sunday while riding a Rock Dam WI we came across a couple of riders sitting along the trail . Something didnt seem right so we stopped and asked whats up. One of the guys fell off his quad and broke his collar bone. I grabbed my first aid kit and tried to help him out as best I could becasue nobody else seemed to know how to treat a clavicle injury . He wasnt in shock so I gave him something for the pain and we made a sling for him. Then one of the guys said to me "are you an EMT" and heres where I screwed up. I just said no. That would have been the perfect time to say "no but I stayed at a holiday inn last night" I also could have pulled out my ASE Master technician ID card and said. "Step aside Im a mechanic" Oh well I just have bad timing.
