I have a friend that bought an 85 F150 with a 300 6 cylinder in it. He drove it 30 miles home and 20 miles to work then home the next day. He went to change the oil and air filter, etc that evening. Upon pulling the drain plug, about a quart came out! Come to find out, the oil pressure gauge's needle was stuck showing good pressure. There no telling how long it ran low on oil.

I'd get crazy and check the dip stick......

Hey guys, I know this is the kawi forum, but I have a ford question. I just bought an 85 f-150 and don't have a manual for it. I just changed the oil and put in 5 quarts with filter. A friend of mine said the 5.0 uses 6 quarts with filter change. I have had some 302's in the past and pretty sure they all held five quarts. Any ford guys out there??? By the way,the V-force is doing great. No problems here

I though five was right, but I did some searches on the web and found different accounts. Some said 5.....some said 6

I have a 99 F150 and it uses 6 quarts when I change mine

He could run that 300 with 1/2 a quart of oil for 500 miles or longer before it would give out.

LMFAO!!!! Too funny FTZLT250r! I would have to agree that the best idea would be to check the dip stick, being that if you put 5qts. in and it takes 6 it'll show a quart low. Just to add to the "I've gots" I have a 98' and it ends up taking approx. 6_1/2qts to reach the proper mark on the dip stick.
