Well I have personally seen a drag race between my buddies. One has an 03 YZ125 (stock) , the other has a 95 YZ125 (Procircuit platnum exhaust), and a 01 DS650(stock) They ran for about a 1/2 mile down a dirt rode. The dirt bikes out accelerated the DS but the DS caught up afet a little. The 95 YZ BARELY nudged out the DS, because of its 6th gear. Now with a 250, that will annilate any stock quad. It all has to do with power to weight ratio. I have riden my buddies 88 KX80 and that thing is FAST. It will without a doubt outrun a 250 4 stroke. With that said, the YZ125 has been the 125 of the year of a few years. The YZ250 can only be better. Yamaha makes a hell of a dirtbike. I have an old 71 DT250 and that thing still runs

As for the original poster - I've almost always ridden red, probably always will. Just waiting for honda to come out with a new bike. I had a 88' CR250 in 1988 of course - such a sweet machine. My pops had an 86' CR500, also very sweet.
My friend in Sacramento just bought a new 03' CR250... Such an awesome machine.. I rode out at prarie city - the thing flies real nicely. They should come with wings.
I have another friend with a 90' YZ125 - also an excellent bike.
Follow the leader - purchase a honda........ Or whatever the he|| you want.!

Don't brag about what rides you have / have ridden though... Makes you sound like jacka$$ - oops - I mean jacknife.. I rode my pops CR500 when I was 16.. But I wasn't good at it in any way. Felt much more at home on my CR250.. Didn't mind jumping 20 feet in the air on a 250 - but the 500, that damn thing weighed a ton.

the 250x is one of the most reliable quads ever made. search the topic of 250x and feast your eyes. and they don't make the 250x anymore because it got replaced by the 300ex. well not really replaced. they made a few changes to it and gave it a new name

well it is an 87'. i just bought it a week ago. it has a pipe on it. thats the only thing that would change the preformance. i don't have much land so i don't know what is feels like going top speed. but stock it is supposed to go 56-57 stock. but with the pipe i think it could go 60 + or - a few.

i have only put $385 in performance parts in it. thats not a lot at all compared to other quads like the blaster i ride with he put about the same amount and he didnt beat me by much when i only had my pipe so now that its ported i should be able to beat him.

The YZ250 is the best all around bike, the CR has the fattest mid but lacks the snap for sandy tracks on top, but in the hard pack it rules, the RM flys the best and the new '03 KX frame is really slick but the new motor still isn't up to par with the others...But it does come down to what kind of deal you can get and what your favorite color is. I got the information from Dirtrider, Racer X, and Dirtbike Magazine.

My 250ex is slow, the z-250 is just about the same. You need to race a 250 two stroke, i drag against my brothers blaster all the time, The blasters twice as fast. If your stupid enough to say that a z250 can whoop up on 250cc two-strokes all day your crazy. Learn a little about atvs before you post stupid replys. And what really pisses me off is when you dissed the guys 250x. The blaster, Banshee, 250x, 250r are just a few atvs made back in the old days that could smoke your z250, stock. Some people need to learn the difference between two-strokes and four-strokes, especially atv makers. let me tell you the difference because you apparently don't know. A two-stroke gets it's power stroke every two strokes of the piston, Four strokes get theirs every four strokes of the piston. Learn what your talking about before you say something stupid, my guees is your a 10 year old who just got your first quad and haven't rode anything with some power.
