Either speed or angle sensor. If you just got it...take it back to the dealer.

Your on the exact track! My neighbor has an 02 rubicon and hers did the exact same thing and ahe took it to the dealer and they put a new speed sensor in it.

i just purchased a 2003 rubicon.when i got it home the speedometer, odometer,and shifting wasn't working. it seems to go through first and second gear allright then it starts to blink and won't let me get above about 35mph(i think this is the limp home mode) it does the same in drive 1 + 2 and only starts over when the quad is restarted then it goes through the same problem angain.it also stutters and stalls out when put in revarse or sometimes just dosn't have anay power to back up.through this foroum i have guessed it is probly the speed sensor does anaybody think i am on the right track?or do you suspect it could be something else.by the way i tryed to get the code and if i did it right it is 661 it will flash 6 quick times followed by 6 more then one and repeat it self.anay help would be greatly appreciated

Did you get your rubicon fixed?
I seem to have the same problem with a 2001 model.
I just posted a message and saw yours.
When you turn the key on it flashes none stop,
gears show 1, 3, 5, (skips 2 and 4) on the display but doesn't shift
we had to replace the control motor and we did but problem still exists
backfires, spits and sputters backing up
any input on how you fixed or found out what was wrong with yours please let me know
