I recently built an ice shack. Although my intentions were to keep it light, it still is over 1000lbs. It is 8x10, so it is a decent size shack. In my research, I ran across several ideas that helped me, but I wish I would have found this web site a lot earlier. Check this one out...litehouse...The next house I build will incorporate some of these ideas. I really like the ski idea!!
Anyway, maybe this will help you!!

Any one on here that has built a fold out cabin to pull behind quad or sled. I think i have figured out how to build a 8ft x 8ft cabin on a sled. Want to get way out there and hear the wolves call at night. i will put a wood burning heater in this cabin . sled will be 4 ft x 8 ft long. I read on a forum one time a guy from rawdon nova scotia built this large fold out on a trailer. i think weight has to be a large consideration, not a problem for quad but sled would have some problems in deep snow even with wife breaking trail.

Boy thats a heavy shack, probably great for a straight pull to a lake , enough room for a party. I would have to construct something that folds up, and lightweight. Will be pulling it a long way through muskeg , large hills, no trail type thing. i would say i will have to be under 300 lbs. I have some small canvas tents 9x10 ft but they are a real pain to set up in winter but they are warm . Might even, if necessary design a tent into a fold out floorplan on sled.
Thanks for the link to the litehouse, looks wide, but must be light with a 35o pulling it. probably work good for ice fishing.
