Can anyone compare under the jersey to over the jersey protectors? I would like to hear about both comfort, looks, and function. Thank you. ------------------ Adam Dowden

For those of you that wear chest protectors, what kind do you have and how do you like it? I will be getting one soon and I want to know which ones are good. I've got a Fox Roost2 chest protector. Other than a couple of the stickers coming off, I like it a lot. It definitely protected my chest when I did a chest slapper on the handlebars this past Sunday at the races at Southwick. Stop by your local dealer and try on a couple different brands to see what feels good to you. -BruceR '99 400EX '95 300EX

I have the THOR aftershock chest protector, and I find it very durable and comfortable.

I have a HRP Chest Protector. They were designed by Bob Hannah, and most of the people I know that race wear them. They are comfortable and really do work good. I have only had one nasty wreck with it. It was the first time I ever had it and I was on my CR125. I managed to dislocate my shoulder, but the protector saved me from alot of scrapes, and actually come to think of it for as hard as I wrecked it really didnt hurt that bad. So either that chest protector is good, or my helmet isnt. Cause I dont remember it being very painful. Adam Smith 99 400EX

If total protection is your aim I would suggest the Acerbis (say ach-ER-bis)Zoom model. They make other models as well. The Zoom has shoulder guards, of course, but also has kidney guards, which could possiblyprotect against a fatal injury rather than just a painful one. I've been using the Zoom model for about two years and it's still in good shape, other than normal scratches, etc. I also have the Acerbis race model which gives less protection but is smaller and can be opened at the shoulder allowing it to be removed with the helmet on.Neither one has had to do it's real job as yet other than to give me a security blanket:0 As to under the jersey types, they are mostly worn by sponsored mx-ers to enable them to show their sponsors or the rider's names on their jerseys. They give minimul protection to the chest and back only. My feeling is that if protection is needed, go with the most, if comfort is the primary aim wear a heavy sweat shirt! :) Cal Az hard packer ------------------ join the Blue Ribbon Coalition online at www.sharetrails.org

Go with the ANswer RoostDeflector. I bought one about a year 1/2 ago, and it has saved my butt 2 times! Over the bars, & into the bars! I've power-washed it without losing a sticker, and it has no cracks at all. It is also very comfortable, and i didn't feel a thing when i wrecked. ...Freddie ------------------

Go to your local dealer / shop and try every one on until you find one that feels right - you will know when that happens. I wear a Acerbis Zoom. It works well, after several hard get off's it still looks good and keeps on protecting my bod. (If your a big guy, they also make a Zoom Plus.)
