This is absolutely do able. I used to ride my Quadsport to within a 1/4 mile of my deer stand, sometimes closer. I used it to carry a bow and whatever else I would need for the hunt. I don't know if any of the racks available for the Raptor are going to rated for packing out a large deer though. You might want to try and rig some kind of sled or trailer, as that would be the safer way to tackle any big hills anyway.

I used our Mojave with front and rear racks for hunting, working on the ranch. Now we use the 160 with a trailer behind it.

If you are using the quad to go to and from your stand/site, why does it matter if it makes noise? You should be getting to your set up before the deer are moving. If you use the quad to locate deer then it could be an issue. However, I think they are more interested in your sudden movement of trying to get a shot off with your rifle/bow than they are about the noise your quad is making. Of course, this is taking into account you don't have a aftermarket exhaust with no packing in it that has a db of 114

Don't get me wrong, I do not think you should be going to your stand as if your racing in the GNCC. Even a gas or diesel engine is going to make noise, heck slamming the door shut on your truck IMO will do more damage then the noise from an atv, especially if you hunt an area that is heavily hunted.

That is one of the greatest feelings, knowing your that close to Mother Nature, the snorting and stomping going on because they something is wrongbut they can't quite figure out what it is

i had made a hitch for my old warrior ,and pulled a trailer for hauling wood and such .

I have no doubt a sport quad will do the job when it comes to dragging out a deer. My late father-in-law would take the deck off his riding lawn mower and cruise out into the woods by their house towing a trailer and start cutting wood. When some curious buck came to see what was going on he got added to the load in the trailer and taken home. Jim did this for years. I have had deer come to see what was going on while we built fence in the mountains using chainsaws to cut trees out of the fenceline many times. Now we use quads to check cattle and do many jobs we used to use horses for. The deer will run away for a short distance but if you don't pursue them most of the time they just have to come back to see what is happening.
The deer and conditions may be way different where you are but here they tend to be curious and while they will run when pursued they seldom go all that far before returning.
By the way, if you want to make a deer easier to drag try wrapping it in a piece of one of those cheap blue tarps. The stuff is slick and lasts quite a while.

i've done this with many deer before too...I'll drive up into a field with my quad and there will be like 3 deer standing there with the tails up just starring at me.I turn the bike off, step off it and start to walk in their direction but not directly at them. If I take my time and not look at them and the deer will walk around and continue eatting but wit keeping an eye on me. that time i manged to get to about 25 feet from one doe the other two ran but she just stood there and i knew she had to have a fawn or something and sure enough i walked around a lil more and a fawn about a month old popped up and darted into the bush, quick lil bugger lol then she ran off behind it.
I'm almost garenteed that if i had a gun in my hand at any point these deer would of ran the second they seen me move. But try this sometime, i bet you could get close

I went turkey hunting one time when the season was first opened in our area many years ago. My wife told me, and I agreed, that the wild turkey I brought home was not all that good for eating. SWMBO has cooked wild birds for years but that thing was just not good eating. Maybe the ones in other areas are good but those around here just aren't that great. I've heard the same from other locals. When I see video tapes of the birds in the Eastern States they look like nice fat birds that would be good eating. Must be a different gene pool. At any rate, the way those videos showed the camouflage these hunters use I can sure see where a deer would be fooled. Deer don't do a real good job of figuring out what they are looking at unless it is moving. I stood against a big oak tree wearing just jeans and a work shirt with a red hunting vest and had a little two point, four point eastern count, follow a doe past me so close I poked him in the rump with my rifle barrel just to make him jump. His reaction was to take a couple of quick steps and turn around to see what had happened. He stood there and stared directly at me for over a minute before walking off. Like you I just kept him in my peripheral vision and did not look straight at him. Many times I have had deer follow as we moved cattle from horseback. When it comes to hunting them most of the time it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time to see the animal you want. Stalking them by still hunting is a real art and very few nimrods ever master this. To be able to sneak up on a deer, which makes them really nervous, is one of the toughest tricks to learn and one I personally have never mastered. Much easier to just let them come to me and do the ambush thing.

05 trailblazer with frt n rear racks ...

My friend hunts with a 300 Lakota ,his is a 96 so it has racks. The only trouble is our trail have many boulders so he took out his rear sprocket more than once. He changed the rear tires from 22" to 25" aggressive tires and has more traction and back ground clearance now.

There all to noisy to actually hunt on them while riding unless its for Partridge. I'm sure a 660 Raptor can carry or skid a deer out well enough though.

you got that right but here in arkansas I hunt in the woods, have to drag the deer part way out then walk back to the truck and get the quad.

if I had my choice for a hunting rig it wouldnt be a sport bike but like you I dont have enough cash to just go buy anything I want.So I say heck yeah use the raptor for hunting.I'd rather use a stretched-out-banshee than drag a deer out of the woods by hand and if anyone disagrees with this then they havent ever dragged a deer out by hand.Hey atvs are made for offroad and thats usually where you hunt.Make sure you get a gun rack or sling for your gun since you have a clutch.Might want to get a camo cover for it also.

i wouldnt cause sport quads are really noisey and will scare every thing away but if u dont think that go 4 it
Posted by: Raptor660JC
Anyone put a rack on their sport quad and take it out hunting? I have a raptor 660 and I'm thinking about getting a back rack for it to help me pull out my deer instead of busting my ass dragging them. I don't really have the $$ to spend on a utility quad so i think i'm gonna have to make do with what I have for now..

They sell racks on ebay for the raptor.
I'm gonna give it a shot next season.

I try to be as quiet as I can walking to my stand in the morning. Just because it's dark and the deer aren't moving around doesnt mean that you still can't spook them. I wouldn't go blasting to my stand at 530 in the morning with my (sport) quad. I'm more interested in hauling the deer out not getting to and from my stand.
