A marked lack of response on this question. I have never seen this product in use but have seen similar devices over the years. Most of them home made. Some of the shooters swore by them and some swore at them. The folks that liked the "vibration dampeners" seemed to be those that were very careful about their handloads and were trying for the smallest groups possible. The word I heard from them was the dampener worked well with one load and one bunch of matched brass. This would indicate that as long as the muzzle velocity was consistent the dampener was able to perform well. Those that were less than impressed were generally shooting factory or hunting grade reloads.

Since I have never used a device of this type this is all second hand information but may be a starting point for your further investigation.

Far as I know the only "Limbsaver" product I have is a recoil pad on a Weatherby '06 my uncle left me. The rifle is pleasant to shoot but another Vanguard '06 I own is very much the same. Nothing spectacular about the Limbsaver pad's recoil reduction but it does look good.

For a hunting rifle, particularly with a variable power scope, I really doubt if you will see a measurable improvement in group size. If you were trying to bring the group down an extra .1 MOA then a vibration dampener may be worth the time and effort involved in finding the sweet spot on the barrel with a particular load.

It really depends on how much ammunition, time and effort you are wanting to invest in the project. One thing about it, while finding the sweet spot you would get plenty of practice on trigger control, breathing, counting your heart beat and learning about parallax to improve your shooting skills way more than the dampener will. Course this is just my opinion and you need to spend your cash the way you want.

I have seen a bunch of guys use it on TV and they swear by it. Then again I am sure they are getting re-embursed for their support. Like mentioned above I also have a limbsaver recoil pad. It is a slip-on recoil pad that I got for patterning in the sights on my turkey gun(those mags take a tole on the shoulder after a while). I will say I was impressed with the recoil reduction over the stock pad. I took a shot with the pad and one without and the difference was very noticable. My advise would be to go to your local sporting goods store and buy one. If they are packaged anything like the recoil pads they can easily be taken out of the package and put back in. Then bench your rifle and get a grouping without the de-resonator, and one with. If your grouping improves keep it. If not, return it.

the gun does group pretty good. its a remington 700bdl 270 with a synthetic stock and leupold bases, rings and rifleman 4-12x40 scope

as long as someone knows how to shoot I dont see the need for one. I mean if you are grouping great without one, why get it? Shooting good groups requires breathing right, squeezing the trigger, and having a good scope or load to begin with.

It may help, but I dont see how it helps much. I mean by the time you react, the bullet or shot has left the barrel usually
