Nice Bucks Guys

Congrats to everyone who harvested an animal.

I shot a 10 point with my bow on the first day and a 8 point on the last day of our gun season in Wisconsin. Pics in my gallery page of the 10 point.

i bagged a 8 point weighting in at 225 lbs dressed 12" tines i can sit between the spread and i also took an irregular 6 point nothing special about him he was old. and during bow i took a spike horn i guess i did pretty good this year

Posted by: Catterman

My dad and I both bagged some nice 8 pointers. I put them in my pictures We got them out in North Dakota.

Posted by: Thunderbolt

I finally got a nice buck !! It is a thick racked 12 pointer with a 17" inside spread that field dressed at 195 lbs. I posted a few pics of the buck in my gallery and they are pending approval. So far this year I shot my first Turkey, I got my first kill with a muzzleloader which was a small black bear and now my biggest buck to date. Muzzleloader deer season starts Saturday and I only have two antlerless tags left so all bucks have to walk.

Posted by: Thunderbolt

We actually did pretty good this year. We hunt for the meat and usually try for bucks to start with and opening day is usually six point or better. We ended our season with three six pointers, a forkhorn, two spike bucks and my twelve pointer for eleven guys. We could have shot some does, but we had enough meat. If I shoot a doe muzzleloading I will give it to a buddy who got skunked. There are still a couple big boys on our land and I hope I don't have to see one during muzzleloader since I can only shoot does.

Posted by: Thunderbolt

Thanks Cobra. He is at the taxiermist as we speak because he is the biggest buck I have ever shot.

Posted by: Thunderbolt

Congrats to everyone for their success !! There are some fine bucks posted in the Galleries and the deer season for us ended Dec. 31st so I can't wait to see if I get drawn for MN or WI
spring Turkey season.

Just got back from west Texas, 9 point 175lbs....got him in the blizzard south of Dallas....cold for a southern guy.....257 Weatherby.....210 yds..............trailing a doe.......skull mount...........

Uh, this is a little late, but I killed a 6pnt with my bow on the second day of season. Shot a 9pnt durning rifle season (in my pics) and then found a nice 10pnt dead in the river a few weeks ago. My son killed a 7pnt during youth season. Congrats to all that harvested this season, and good luck next year. Be safe!

Posted by: DavidLT250S

lol i got a 2 point(spike) that came in at 95 pounds undressed, shot it on the first mornin (Nov,4th), me and my dad both only saw like 5 or 6 does for the rest of the season. Thank god i shot the first thing i saw with horns lol this was the worst hunting season in years, the weather was horrible and now that the seasons over its supposed to be sunny and cold all week wtf's with that? lol

Posted by: CobraR6

Well just over a week now until the first day of rifle here in Pa. Can't wait to get out, I have a good feeling about this year. Me and Ginnis saw a nice one a week or so ago. We were out spotting, and found one one right below my place. He was at least a 10, and was high and wide! Hopefully he makes his way under my stand the first day! Anyone else getting ready to get out, or have already been out? Goodluck to those that are headed out. If you get something, make sure and put up some pictures!

Haha, I hope he wanders underneith my stand too! If thats the case, the taxidermist is really gonna be making a killing off me this year! Good luck to you too, I hope that nice one makes he way toward you!

Posted by: CobraR6

Congrats to both of you on your seasons.

Thunderbolt- That is one nice buck! I'd love to see something like that under my stand on the first day.

I would say he is worth the taxedermy bill!

Congrats guys!

Crazy Farmer,

Those are some nice bucks you posted pictures of! Congratulations!

I can't wait till turkey season either. If anyone knows anything about me, they know that is the one time of the year I look forward to more than anything else. It will be great this year because my semester ends right before turkey season starts. So I will have a full month to get after them birds! I am debating on whether or not to purchase my second tag. Its kinda pricy, but if I tag out first day I will have nothing to do the rest of the season

Posted by: CobraR6

We get 2 tags with our basic liscence. 1 tag for fall(either male or female may be taken). 1 tag for spring(male only). It is $22 for a second tag! Thats more than the liscence costs to begin with.

What will hopefully end up happening is that I get to take my dad out first day, and hopefully he will take a bird. Then that gives me the rest of the season to get one for myself. Then again last years plan was for him to shoot the bird, and the bird ended up making it up my way.

Second year in a row, I filled my tag an hour after sunrise. Neither buck was the biggest or best, but I don't eat the horns anyway.

Hay all nice deer. I have put down the rifle for this season as my wife and I adopted 4 teenage kids in Tenn and moved back home to Montana. So I decided last year to have the kids do hunter safety and I would rather hunt with them and help build their skills this year. But to date we have been skunked. My 2 youngest daughters can still take cow elk(youth hunt) so we have really been trying our best. I was proud of my 15 year old daughter as we stalked the biggest mule 12 point buck I have ever seen and I could have taken the 150yard shot but gave her the chance. She was unsure of the shot and decided not to take a chance and only wound it (this was the daughter that killed her first doe last year with a 75 yard head shot). So that right there was one of the best days of my life. We are going to spend the last 4 days hunting hard and the good Lord willing maybe we can get one. We even moved turkey dinner to late night so we can hunt. Anyways good luck to all of you that still have season left.

I managed to kill a big ole fat doe on opening morning here in Alabama on the 18th. She ended up weighing 118#. Good sized doe. Been hunting for 6 years and finally got me one. Could've had a shot at a heavy basket racked buck if he hadn't stopped behind a tree, and "winded" me. Oh well doe meat is better than no meat. Planning on going out and hunting some this weekend around the house. Congrats to all that had a safe and successful hunting season so far. I also added some pics to my gallery containing some of the trophies killed on the plantation where we were hunting this past weekend.

Congrats to all! Those are some nice looking deer in the pictures posted.

I took a 6 point last weekend with a traditional longbow and a cedar arrows that I make myself. This was not the biggest buck I have ever harvested, but very rewarding.

Hey everyone, I'm 19 years old and this year was my 3rd year deer hunting. There is no rifle season here, just shotgun and muzzeloaded.....First year i missed a decent 8 point buck from like 50 yards away( beautiful broadside shot and i still missed lol)...never seen a thing for the rest of the week, last year i shot a BIG doe last day of the hunt about 15 minutes before sun set( was bigger then both 6 pointers we got that week too) but this year (well november 06 hunt), i managed to get my first buck....first morning i see 2 small does out in the middle of the field infront of my stand about 100 yards away....then i see a lil spike horn walk out of the bush in hot pursuit of them does....I had the gun on him forever he was about 50 yards away...then i hear this LOUD crashing in the bush and all the deer are looking in the direction the sound is coming from....at this point my heart is about ready to BEAT right outta my chest, i decide to put the gun down and wait to see what the sound was(and just as im trying to calm myself down) this MONSTER walks out in the exact same spot that lil spike horn did with his head down, grunting like crazy walking right towards them does and the lil spike horn...finally at this point the sun is up i can see everything really well...i count 10 points on big one when hes about 70 yards away walking STRAIGHT towards the spike horn and me, the lil spike horn starts to wander off back into the bush (leaving the does to the big fella) and the 10 pointer just kept walking til he was about 30 yards from my stand, he stopped broadside and i shot( i was shaking pretty bad at first, but i just kept telling myself to breathe and that i wasnt going to make the same mistake as my first year and then i shot...he ran about 100 yards til about 20 yards from the edge of the bush then he fell .i knew i hit him good from the twitch he made..I was so relieved when he finally dropped ( my dad is watching all this happen from his stand in another field about 200+ plus yards away, he was pretty excited as well

i sat and waited for about 15 minutes after i shot, I SWEAR i seen another big buck looking out into the same field i shot from the bush about 10 feet inside from the edge of the bush(hardwoods)..but he must of heard me or something because he turned around and walked away( i mostly just seen the rack) dont think he was as big as my 10 pointer though...

anyways this was BY FAR my greatest hunting experience so far, we got 10 guys in our group, we got 8 deer, 7 bucks and 1 doe....my 10 pointer had a spead of 19 1\2 inches from the widest points and weighted 225 after field dressed and sitting in our shop for 4 days( butcher said it was probably around 300 pounds with guts and everything and that wasnt even the biggest buck we got this year ...

my dads friend that just turned 70 this year, shot 4 bucks in 4 days all from the same stand....two 8pointers, one 9 pointer and an 11 pointer. he shot the 11 pointer when he was walking through this lil opening in the bush looking for a wounded doe that another guy shot eariler that day when this doe ran out in front of him at full speed about 50 yards away, he put the gun up on her ( we had 2 tags left) when the 11 pointer runs out behind the doe about 30 feet back, sees my dad friend standing there so it stops, and thats when he shot and it dropped...

the spread between the 2 widest points on that 11 pointer was 21 inches, fairly high tines ( around 7 inches) and the butcher said it weighted 240 there, prob a good 300+wit guts and everything

this year was amazing...between the 10 guys hunting, each of us seen atleast 5 deer each throughout the week, (most were does on the first couple days) we only shoot bucks the first few days

the rut was at its PEAK on the first day of hunting thats why every1 seen so many deer and we shot 4 bucks the first day....

anyways i just realized how long i've been rambling on for, but i had to share my experience ..hopefully next year im just as lucky!!!!!...

no pics at the moment, they are still on the digital cam though, i'll get em up soon =D

I dont know about in the states...but here in Canada turkeys are EVERYWHERE

i counted around 150-200 turkeys in one week when deer hunting this year...i'd say about 50 of them were the same ones everyday...but i seen close to 75 together at once...differnet story in the spring though, i only seen 5 last year during turkey season on the last day....4 toms walked up to my decoys and i got 2 of them with one shot...one was 23 pounds and other was 20

wow mrdumbass, shake your sons hand for me, 7 years old and gets a nice 7pnter???? what was he using?? rifle? crossbow? bravo

hey guys, im new here but a aviiiiidddd hunter.. since I farm, I have access to some good land and get to scout all year. But im from Va and we dont have HUGE bucks her elike the midwest though..

anyway, ill post the links to the pics later or put them in my gallery..

but I bagged the below this season

8pt 20" spread during bow season(not a monstor, but a decent buck for a bow)

8pt 19 7/8ths during muzzloader season(nice tall antlers, but again, not a wall mount deer)

6pt 22inch spread.. took him with the muzzloader at 6 yards and I debating letting him go, but he was very thicked horned. I scored him and under the Va b&c system he scored 141 B&C. Im getting him mounted since he was the biggest 6pt ive seen or killed. Ive got 4 wall mounts already(biggest scored 158 B&C 7pt but should be a 9pt due to broken tines). The wife is already on my case about where this one is going... I told her im hanging it over the bed(HAHAHAHHAHAH)

anyway, ill post the pics later but I looked at ya'lls above and congrats on the fine kills! The season here wasnt the best due to the warm weather all year! But as always, it means more just to be outdoorsBR>

Ok, I uploaded the pics to my image gallery here.. not sure if they work yet or not?

thanks man... I hunt way to much, so my wife tells me:-P I started passing up anything smaller than 18 inches about 3 years ago and it started paying off. You might not kill as many deer, but the ones you do are worth mounting

what suks is turkeys are 4 times harder for me to kill than deer for some reason. Im lucky to kill 1 gobbler every year if that. Ive been on a drought for 2 years though with no turkeys thoughBR>
cant wait for spring though!!! then that means dove and deer season isnt far behind

Posted by: Crazyfarmer

PA must have different laws.. in Va we get 3 turkey tags right on our license with the deer tags

Its plenty turkeys down here, just way more hens than long beards!!
