Its morons like this that make us responsible people pay for insurance out the arse. Man, I cannot imagine Moto really putting his thoughts down on this thread. Have more common sense ...PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Ol

This was pretty well covered in a thread about 2 years ago. Check this out:

http://forums.atvconnection.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=381389&highlight_key=y&keyword1=survival%20&keyword2=bag

Remember, it all depends on where you're riding. I'm always in the desert, so I always carry a complete survival set-up and pack along a firearm... ALWAYS.

However, depending on your age and where you ride, you have make accomodations for your worst case scenario.

You don't think you can get a DUI if you were caught riding your ATV?? Don't know what the laws are down there, but it'll still hit you up here.

You receive a lot of greif for your posts on this forum. I was starting to feel a bit bad for you, but you've blown any chance of respect from me and most other forum members with this post.

Odds are fellas that he won't be in the gene pool a whole lot longer ..

Sorry if I spoke out of turn with my comment dragging the other forum members in ... just the plain idiocy of moto's post this time was more than I could really take ...

Tell me? is that fair? when you have a business that has work and workers that are able to work, why should they be stopped? These guys that own ATV's get drunk, they keep their ATV off the roads and the next day they go to their jobs and work hard, pay taxes, put bacon on the table and be good, productive members of soceity. They are doing no harm to anybody!

Is that fair?? You're GD right it's fair. Tell me MotoF150 ... if one of your DUI Buddies got into an accident while drunk and killed your kid/wife/mother/father because they were not capable of safely operating a vehicle, do you think it's fair that those people dear to you lost their LIVES, not just their f|_|cking jobs, because of one persons stupid actions?

If I thought you were stupid from your first post, this followup just hammers it home. I hope to hell that you never have to deal with the aftermath of a drunk-driving accident.

And FYI Moto ... a REAL MAN has a sense of responsibility to his family, friends and general community. I feel sorry for you dude, that you think that drunk driving and putting yourself and others at risk makes you manly. It just makes you an idiot.

Posted by: NLWarrior01

Does nobody any harm?? What about the man's family? What about his friends out riding with him? What about others in the community who may be counting on him for things?

A beer or two on the trail is one thing. Going and getting plastered and then riding off taking a damn good chance of wrecking and either killing oneself or rendering oneself disabled and unable to work/contribute to society is something else. Responsible adults have fun on the trails, and retire to the cabin/camp/home to tip a few. Idiots get hammered on the trail and selfishly damage our sport and take needless risks with their lives and the lives of those around them.

I'm done with this now. You and your like are obviously not able to comprehend the foolishness of your actions. I can only hope you get caught at it before you do yourself or someone else a greivous harm.

Posted by: NLWarrior01

Don't get me wrong .. a beer or two (depending on your tolerance level) over time while stopped @ trailside is OK. Like stopping in for a quick beer to a bar on your way home from work with the guys.

A buddy of mine also carries a collapsable shovel which comes in handy at times (like when you need to bury your DUI friends after they've killed themselves on their quads drunk driving Sorry .. couldn't resist that one. But seriously, the shovel does come in handy for digging out and such.

Posted by: NLWarrior01

Something else it's wise to take on trail rides: either with you on the machine or on a different machine .. take a buddy. Buddies come in handy in troublesome spots!

Don't be sorry...his comment is pretty dumb and it shows he couldn't give a damn about our sport. I'm guess this clown is either a pimple face teen with no life trying to get a rise or some left wing tree hugging wack job trying another angle at giving our sport a black eye. Either way, there isn't much room for toloerance of these types and if ignored they'd probably just go away. Though it's not alwasy easy to ignore such wanna bees.

and another thing I always ride with:

my wallet with driver license, medical insurance card, and the works
also make sure I always have some cash on me...not sure why just seems like a good idea and in the case of an extreme...ummm shall we say emergency... and I run out of TP well...you get the picture.img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

MAN, Moto150 ,because he goes out and drinks and rides ,Darwin is going to catch up to you really soon ,
I thought your threads on some of your other post were goofy but this tops them all .
The best thing we can do here fellow posters is ignor the silly ramblins of Moto150 .

Motion proposed we all ignor Moto150 ,

Posted by: tencubed

Other posters have covered the lunacy of Moto's recent posts here so I won't get into that.

Please do not ignore bad posts. Irresponsible types often give advice that has not been thought out and could cause others to damage or destroy themselves, others or property. They have the ability to suggest solutions that are expensive and often not necessary as well. Posters of this sort, rather because they are trolls, malicious or just stupid need to be called to task and good advice given.

We all make mistakes and sometimes give advice that may not be the best but some have a constant habit of this.

Don't ignore bad posts. You are not doing others on the forum a favor by doing so. JMO

i have been a firefighter for years and part of our job is Jaws of Life work at motor vehicle accidents. i can give you very graphic detail of the harm drunk drivers do. when you have to scrape up what is left of someone and hose the rest off the road because of somebody driving home after "a few beers" you realize those clips on TV are right. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE ANYTHING.

and here, the ticket is "operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated" and can be given anywhere, anytime, private property or not.

It looks to me like Moto is the consumate expert at rattling cages. He sure set up the straight men to make a point--go easy on the beer.

Does any one have a list, or know of a web site that might have a list of must have items to take on day or over night trips.
Maybe if we all list the must have items we take on trail rides we all can create a master list.
I got the idea from the "Flat tire" thread, Slime -tire patch- air pump
What other survival items can you think of?
Matches or magnesium fire starter
Tow strap
Energy bars
Water
Extra fuel
????

Good ideas Thanks

What harm does it do if he wrecks? Let me tell you what harm it does. I was in the hospital recovering from surgery when late one night they brought me a room mate. He had crashed his quad while drunk. He was still drunk when they brought him into my room. He cursed the staff, tried to walk aroud the unit naked and caused the nursing staff extra work. And in a world where hospitals are short staffed, they don't need this type of individual to look after. It got to the point where they had to move him to a single room where a nurse had to look after him. One nirse had to spend all of their time looking after one drunk patient, insteat of the normal number. Meaning other nurses had to increase their patient load, and therefore, patient safety decreased. His stupidity affected many more lives than he had the right to affect.

I don't know if he had insurance or not, but many times people that engage in this type of behavior do not. A hospital cannot refuse to help someone without insurance so the hospital many times has to eat the bill. This results in less money available for other activities in the hospital. Like buying new equipment that helps save lives. Small hospitals are much more affected by this than large ones. And the small hospital is where you are likely to first be sent if you have a quad accident in the woods. Wouldn't it be sad if that small hospital could not save your life, or the life of a loved one, because of to much charity care for drunks prohibited them from buying the equipment needed in their ER to help save lives.

A friend of mine dated a girl whose brother was run over by a drunk driver. What right did that drunk driver have to kill that person? If you want to drink, do it at home, sitting on a couch where you cannot kill anyone else. Most times druks walk away from the accident, it's the innocent people who pay the price.

After this post, I'll ignore him.

But guys.... I think maybe moto is drunk when he is posting these reply's.
No grown, responsible man, would ever say anything of the sort of what he has said.
"Real men aren't afraid to come home to their wives drunk" PPSSSSSSHHH!!!!! You aren't scared to do anything when you are drunk first of all, and second of all, it is NOT manly to come home to your wife and/or kids drunk. It is irresponsible. Moto... you really need to get some help on the common sense part of life.

Sorry for flaming, but I think he deserves it.

From now on, I am not paying attention to ANY of moto's comments. He disgusts me.

beer, I ride with a group of guys that all carry a giant cooler filled with beer, I swear every 5 mins of riding they stop to drink beer, then when they finish all the beer we take the back roads to an outta the way bar and drink more beer. Tell me? Does life get any better than when you can use back roads and a trail and ride ur ATV to a bar then get totally knocked out drunk then ride ur ATV home without worring about getting a DUI and losing ur drivers licence? If ur ATV breaks down or gets stuck you won't care cause ur too drunk to care about anything.

Posted by: MotoF150

Maybe if some of you guys would drink more and get drunk you would mellow out and be happier! Everybody I know and I don't know that owns and rides a ATV either takes beer with them or rides their ATV to a bar, its common around where I live. Around here men are real men, real men are NOT afraid of their wifes or afraid to face a wife when they come home drunk. On any Sunday afternoon drive around here and every backroad bar you will see a group of ATV's parked in the parking lot. The cops cannot charge you with a DUI unless ur riding ur ATV on, or crossing a road. There are soo many good hard working people here that are losing their drivers licence cause of DUI's, these guys need their drivers licence to drive to work to do their job and pay taxes and be productive members of soceity. I know a business that services and installs truck tires, all his truck drivers were charged with a DUI, if they can't drive they can't drive the trucks owned by the business, so they are out of a job and that business is outta business! man i cant believe imissed this one, dude you are nuts, let me tell you from someone who seen a guy get killed on a snomobile, the guy was drunk as can be hiy a ditch between two potato fields doing 80mph my b uddy did cpr on him couldnt get air down, you wanna know why, he swalloed is false teeth from the impact, his story 55 years old just retired, 14 year old daughter, and a wife.....and who did it hurt?

back in my days when i was crazy every year we would goto eagle river wi, for the derby.one year 1st day there it was 40 below wind chill we decide not to ride so we sat at the bar from 2pm to midnight got hammered we dicide to ride the lake ( was that stupid) i ended up missing my turn off the lake to the cabin well i hit the channel between the 2 lakes and through the ice i went, no one seen it happen, luckily i was able to get out and make to the cabin, the next day we spent 2 hours getting my sled out, the sled was junk 3k later tofix it all up.

having a beer ot two is fine but to brag about going out and getting hammered a driving you atv home on the back roads is compltely stupid, you have a family, kids, guess it wouldnt hurt them would it.

luckily i grew up after that real quik, i have a family so i got smart real fast. if your gonna do stuff like that dont brag about it.

its to bad the irresponsible people in this sport give us all a bad rap!

What do I care?????????????????????? What are you, some kind of moron?????????????????? I, and several thousand other Fire/EMS responders are the ones who have to get up in the middle of the night (or day for that matter), conduct a search in those woods for hours on end, in ALL kinds of weather, call in Mutual Aid from neighboring FD's to help or cover our station while we are out looking for your sorry a$$, that is now splattered against a rock or tree. Now, we have to risk OUR lives to go in there and get you out.....maybe then we have to call in a helicopter in bad weather, putting THEIR lives in jeopardy. Now, let's call in the Trauma Team at the Hospital; hopefully, they will not get in an accident in bad weather on the way in. The cycle goes on and on. Just because YOU and your "real men" just gotta have one more beer. Brilliant.

That's why there should be laws & licenses on who CAN breed and who CAN'T.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.........

I agree with the earlier post......just ignore this putz. Maybe the Moderator should ban him.

No wonder why there's so many atv accidents, cause it's people like you that make it bad for the rest of us. I'm glad that you don't ride in the same state that I do

We work hard, but we're not stuck on STUPID. Dude, it's unsafe and like I said before safety first. I'd hate to see a 911 call come in and go out and see one of your buddies wrap his atv around a tree. Leave the beer at the campsite or at home and wait until you're done riding. It's only common sense. It's the type of people that gets our trails taken away by being STUPID, and it makes all of the atv community look bad.
They are doing harm to other people. What if a innocent family was out riding enjoying themselves and one of buddies runs into them and hurt them badly. Will that wake you up to reality? and the state that you live in takes your trails away all because of one serious accident?

Posted by: ryryviper

NLWarrior01, couldnt agree more. Its unsafe and foolish to drink and drive any vehical. those ppl just make it harder for the rest of us to enjoy the trails.

Well, not saying driving with is buzz is safe, but you should also mention how many accidents are also caused by people that just don't understand how to drive safely, or the fricken people swerving around the road because they have a cell phone attached to their ear.
I know people that can drive better drunk than many people drive sober and way better than idiots with cell phones. I know some people can also drive safe with a cell phone, but there are so many that can't. I think it's just as bad as drunk driving and I think if driving after having a few beers is illegal, than driving while using a cell phon should be illegal.
In Germany, driving while using a cell phone is illegal and because of it, the drivers are so much more aware. the other thing that no one seems to use anymore is their turn signals.
