I was raised on a farm, where a firearm was a tool, like any other. And fun on weekends... sort of like a quad is on a farm today. Anyway, some of my arsenal:

Springfield M1A. If I had to get rid of all of my guns but one, this would be it. Well balanced, accurate, hard hitting, and an action that has been through two major wars without complaint.

Springfield 03/A3. I really prefer this to a Garand. Better balanced, a bit more accurate. Has to be one of the finest bolt action rifles ever made.

Browning Gold Hunter DU edition. Traded an old Big Bear for this and $300, brand new in the box. It is a sweet shooter. Seems to handle 2 3/4" shells okay. Soaks up the recoil. I will say that 3.5" turkey loads really smart in this gun, so I'd hate to experience them with a pump action.

Winchester 52D. Finest smallbore bolt action ever made. Pick one of these up at a gun show, and you're going to want it.

Winchester 9422M YellowBoy. .22 magnum. Built with quality, not price, in mind. Bought it new for $500, could sell it for far more today. But then I wouldn't have it.

Weatherby Vanguard, 300 WBY Magnum. A round for this looks like a howitzer shell. Only rifle I ever owned that came from the factory with a recoil pad. It will punch through a 6" sapling and keep on going.

Desert Eagle Mk1, .357 Mag. Kicks about like a 9mm, not much recoil. Quite accurate.

Colt 1911. My dad carried this in China during the war. Still shoots great.

Beretta 92FS. Well balanced, feels good in the hand.

Colt Woodsman Match Target. Perfect balance, very accurate, highest quality gunsmithing.

S&W 629. Stainless, 44 mag, 8 3/8" barrel. I call it the Pimp Chaser, because outside of target shooting and hunting, that's about all you could do with it. It is huge. Very accurate, if you can take the blast.

I have more "toys" than i dare mention but my latest is my favorite.I just recently bought a Magnum Research 454 stainless revolver that shoots very tight groups.I will say that i have a fairly large safe and it is pretty full.

Elk hunting with the big boom sticks, small game hunting and plinking with everything else. Killed a 5x5 bull in Idaho a few years ago at an honest 400 yards (laser rangefinder). When the bullet hit, it sounded like a sack of cement dropped from a 20 story building, WHOOOMP!. The 300 Rem Ultra Mag will put 5 180gr pills into .7" at 3450fps, it's a shooting SOB. Over the years I've competed in rifle and pistol matches but never seriously, just to learn/develop good skills and keep them from getting dull.

It's funny that you mention shooting VA deer with the thumpers, most of our eastern VA deer only weigh about 125 lbs. I made the mistake of shooting one in the chest with the 300 Wby at 50 yards from a treestand. Before it knew it was dead, it ran 30 yards with its insides on the outside.

Your name UBETRUN is apt considering your collection BR>
You have rifles fairly suited to Rocky Mountain elk hunting where you gotta reach across canyons sometimes.........what do you do with them in Virginia, long range target matches? Or just making sure deer go dead and stay dead?? BR>

You mean on my person at this moment?

A Glock Model 21 .45 in a shoulder holster and a Sig Sauer 239 in .40 S&W in an ankle holster.

Too many to list but I'm hunting deer with a Kimber 84M Montana in .308 this year. Wonderful rifle. Still in the process of trying out glass on it. My big objective scopes are just too heavy for it and wreck the feel of the rifle. I'm having a really hard time finding suitable glass for it. Anyone knows a good lightweight illuminated reticle scope with good clarity and bright glass feel free to chime in. Don't need huge magnification. 3x9 2x10 4x12 range is more than enough. I may end up having to go with something from Leupold's lightweight line but I really need something with an illuminated reticle. It seems like today everything is built to shoot off of a bench and not be taken into the field and weight and feel is an afterthought if it is given a thought at all. That and don't get me started on triggers. Or out of the box build quality from major US makers for that matter.

Posted by: Just4Kicks

Well my list sure aint as impressive but then I'm from southern california where they don't want us to have guns in anyway.BR>

OH, and a pellet gun (pump and CO2)

Now its just collecting dust. I really need to get rid of it. I know someone else could put it to use. Its all top of the line equipment.

Oh, BTW, Im left-handed as well.

I would say the same with a .22. I LOVE my .22. More chipmonks, groundhogs, and rodents have falled to that thing than I ever could begin to list.

Posted by: CobraR6

Well I just ordered the S&W so I should have it friday. It will not have the night sights, so that will be the only difference from what I listed above.

Posted by: CobraR6

A while back I think it was either Marlin or winchester that made a lever action 410 ga. American hunter had an article on it, it was a pretty sweet little gun.

ruger sporter .243 with a leupold 3-9x40

marlin lever action 30-30 scrub gun open sights

I would very much like a new shotgun but here in Australia restrictions apply, ie, no pump actions. However, there is a new chinese made 8 shot 12g lever action on the market, which avoids the capacity restriction due to its action (a loop hole for sure) that Im looking at. Anyone here heard of or used them?

Posted by: windman

Hi, you can see a picture and read some reviews on the lever action shotgun on the link below. Its a chinese made clone of the winchester model 1887 and there seems to be a bit of a mixed reception to it.
