48 for this Prairie down a super smooth, downhill, pavement. If I start to wreck it, I'll just step off. It's the only one with a speedo, but as others have cited their 450 Foremans at 50 or so and I'm just a little slower than my buddy on his, this must be close.

Same here - the only place I could even try top speed on my machines - AC 500i and 350 bear, would be pavement, and the handling of these things on pavement is weird. Steering is way too sensitive, and because most quads are set up for oversteer (so you can slide the rear end easily), making a mistake on pavement tends to carry a harsh penalty. More than one person here in KY has been killed by turning too quick on a country road, overcorrecting, spinning the rear end out, and sliding into oncoming traffic.

My Cat is tolerable at around 50, but anything over 30 on the bear on pavement is downright dangerous. It's just all over the place.

do a search. there have been numerous tables, charts and graphs for this information.

The fastest I've driven my S is 52 mph. I've tried to get more out it but that's all it'll give.

Posted by: Coyotechaser

My Recon had a top speed of 47 mph.

Posted by: BSA

My Foreman 450ES gave an indicated 50mph, which is more than fast enough for a vehicle with a 50" wheelbase. I did it once just to see how fast it would go, I don't expect to ever see 50mph on it again.

The only time speed really matters, is for the accident report.

55+ but whether or not it was still on a trailer or in the back of a truck I dont know.

Well put. That was hillarious!

I was on an old Honda and made it to around 50 MPH running next to a pick-up - racing checking top speed. Trouble was that at high speed the tires behaved very erratically and when combined with the solid rear axle the ATV things got uncontrollable in a hurry. I ended up flipping the damned thing when I tried to decelerate. Sliding down the middle of the highway at 50 MPH wearing just jeans and t-shirt ruins your whole day. Spending a few hours in the ER with the medical types picking gravel out of your road rash is no picnic either by the way.

Guess they were serious when they said not to ride on pavement.

I've read my speedometer at about 58 or 59 MPH on my ATP in a grassy field. I guess when we're going that fast we don't have time to study the speedo. With only 5 PSI in the tires they tend to grow taller as your speed increases and then they get squirrelly because they're not made for speed.

I've had my '03 Prairie 650 up to 69 MPH.

Posted by: Syrupdawg

A prarie 650 will run 62 with mid 20's inch tire(not really sure what they are). I have heard that a prarie has an electronic limiter. Not a rev limiter or something like that. Not really sure on that.

This is like the 10th time ive seen this post man

Actual speeds or what the owners say they do will never concide. Some guys on this forum say their Big Bears do 55 plus but when asked if this was still strapped on the trailer I have not heard yet. Good Luck on getting accurate speeds, oh I have had my Kodiak over 80, but it was still in the back of my truck, so far off it has been about 45. AlaskaBoy.

You know somebody has to say it. Don't ride your quad down the road, stay on the trails that your are supposed to. AlaskaBoy.

Posted by: TheFORCEIsWithMe

that'd be quite a long list for all quads...but most high performance sport i guess from the high sixties to mid seventies (stock)...and utility anwhere from forties to around sixty....anyone correct me if it's needed

I want to no what the top speeds for atv's of all kind please give some info ASAP

Posted by: mikga

I have had my Rancher ES at 40 miles a hour but it is new and i am just break it in so i never have used full thottle yet, guys say theres will go about 50 and i tend to think mine will do the same because i had alot of thottle left at 40.

with those low psi tires even going 40 is not a great thing and i doubt i will ever go 50 on the rancher becaue there is no need to do that.
if i want to go 50 i will drive the car or the jimmy.

Posted by: farmerboy

with my 400 sportsman ive gone 55mph with new tires but ever since i put my tool box on the back it only goes about 50mph. i know someone that has passed someone on the highway at over 60+ on a prarie 650.

Posted by: Catterman

My 400 Arctic Cat has been 300+ mph, but that was in the airplane getting shipped out here... Cat's are not made for speed, but I think it will go about 40-45mph. (I am still breaking it in) My old man has a 2000 Cat 500 4x4 Auto and I got that up to almost 50.

My Bro in law has an '05 Grizzly 660 that he has had up to 67 mph. My new '07 Sportsman 700 EFI is still in the break in period, so I haven't cranked it up yet, but since it is a little heavier than the grizz, I think top speed will be about the same.

Posted by: dosceola

I have 07 sportsman 800 stealth. K&N filter and I opened the air box. I run my tires at about 9 or 10 pounds, yes i know too much air but I can slide corners and ride wheelies like crazy.anyway on flat dirt road 75 is tops i raced a buddys truck and he said same speed. also only 875 feet above sea level and was cool night out but its consitant.

I'd have to see those speeds listed.and if so it was top end for 2 sec. ive raced those quads in rivers and beat all of them just cause I can hold top speed for long time.Automatic trans
