I'm getting better, almost not limping anymore, and I have gained a LOT of mobility the last few days in my shoulder. Left knee is still swollen as he!!, and feels like it's tearing everytime I bend it. (I did all of this on X-mas eve)
Originally they thought that I had broken my left collarbone, and tore ACL/MCL in both knees, but X-rays said nothing broken. I had MRIs done on all three on Friday, and I get the results on Wednesday. They can't do an MRI on my ego, but it's pretty damaged...Will take the longest to heal BR>
As for the Z...It's pretty much back together now, just some bent mounts, and bars, possibly the axle, but I got most of it straightened out now.
I'm deciding on a pipe now....Because...You know....Of all the things I really need right now, one of them is to go FASTER....Right.
Posted by: Spudss
Mike, can I make a suggestion...If you like a mean sound HMF is a great pipe.. I had one one my 300EX and I am sold on HMF... It gave me more HP and the sound was unreal sound like a harley... You have a Z-400? I believe they (HMF) make them for a Z... Go to ATVDirect.com and they have them there... It will tell you alittle more about the pipe....

Spudds,
Pryor was ok didnt see alot of it out there in the industrial park coming back again on Saturday for the final day of the school.

This is the fourth time I have replied...Lets see if it shows up.
Guess I wasn't holding my mouth right....
After all I had typed too.
Anyway to answer your questions Spudss
Yup, I have a Z400.
HMF is too loud for my tastes, I don't want to get on anyones nerves....Mainly my own I'm looking at the CT, or the Yosh.
By the way, do you know of a quiet pipe for the 300EX? I have a buddy that is looking.
Posted by: Spudss
Mike, I agree HMF is loud but they sell a quiet core for it that really knocks down that loud anouing sound and still gives it a soft rumble...I really wouldnt suggest WB I dont like there product thats just my opionion though.....
Shane, what time will you be in pryor saturday....Maybe we could met if you had time..Put a face to a name anyway...

Bobman,
This is true that some of the smaller roads might not be on the downloaded maps but they might be. If you can give me a more detailed ideal of were you are talking about I can look for you. But when you take the gps on your trails you are in affect mapping it and can then download it later as a track. We went to Pine Creek today and I and blacksheep both had ours on all day tracking the trails as it were. I will try to get an example of what im talking about up tomorrow. Spudds you bet you can find brush piles with them, we use them on the *Washeta* river to mark catfishing holes it works good for that and deer stands and all kinds of stuff.

**had to spell it that way for the forum rules the real spelling is an "I" in stead of the "e"

spudds I will be in pryor from 9 till 4 we will get a lunch break, if you could suggest a better place than that bar b que place on the highway maybe we could meet at lunch

Bobman, you may be surprised at how much the topo map will show you. The place I ride (just east of Clayton) is Hancock land (formerly weyerhauser) also. Quite a few of the logging roads were on the map when I got it, and every time I go down there I keep adding to it. That's half the fun, creating maps of the "roads less travelled" while you explore.
Spudss, The GPS is just like anthing else, they kind of have their own language (waypoint, track, etc...). It can be a little confusing at first, but once you get familiar with it they are surprisingly easy to use. For example, to mark your brushpile, you would simply go to it, push the "MARK" button, name it, and press enter. This creates a "waypoint" which will show up on the screen from now on (or until you erase it.) It's just that easy!BR>Okay, I'm starting to sound like I work for GPS or somethingif any of you guys, buy one they should send me a commissionBR>

Thank you all for the valuble info. on the GPS Im starting to get the fever for one now..Im going to start looking for one that will fit my needs. I was looking at the sporttrax(I think it was a Garmin) model today I think it had 8mb on it then there was one that had 32mb so Im debating on if I want to go ahead a pay the extra money and get the bigger one.. Can you upgrade memory...Say if I bought the 8mb if thats to small can I buy extra memory?
Posted by: Bobman
Thanks for the GPS info. I am going to buy one soon I think.
Bob...GPS store had those package deals that look great .
Bob

Well, I got tired of looking around, and went ahead an bought a pipe....Now if I could just convince the Doc to sign off on it.
Posted by: trailride
Mike
Which pipe did you get? Dont forget to jet , oh and just think of all the mods you can do nowOL>Brent
Posted by: nukeim
Yeah, since I can't ride it yet.....It should be really shiny the next time you guys see it BR>
I got the Pro Circuit Ti-4.
I already have a K&N with outerwears, and a jet kit, so all I have to do it pop the airbox lid, jet it, and I'll be back in the ER. BR>
If I'm still in one piece by the end of the summer, I will probably do the cams....Only reason is, I like to tinker with stuff....I should pick up a Zilla or something.
Posted by: trailride
Mike
A zilla would be cool
Brent
Posted by: nukeim
So would a rocketship, but I don't think that's in the budget....And would be equally as dangerous in my hands.
Nasa wouldn't appreciate it either.

Spudss,
They do make them with upgradeable (Is that a word?) memory cards, but those are of the more expensive variety, and the memory cards are also high. I have the Magellan Sportrak Pro with 23Mb of memory, and i have yet to run out. The Garmin GPSMAP 76S has a little more memory and a couple of more features, such as a barometer and something else (I forget what). It also has a little larger display than the Magellan, but it's about $100 more expensive. (okbow68 has this unit, and can tell you more about it than me.) Both units will do just about anything you want them to do. GPS is much like your ATV, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend, and what you want to do with themLater,

shane

Weird, now your original works for me....I guess I wasn't holding my mouth right.
Posted by: okbow68
You never know with yahoo sometimes you got to hold your mouth right, shut one eye, cock your head to the left, and stomp three times on the floor before it will work right. BR>
shane
Posted by: nukeim
Ah....see?? I WAS holding my mouth right...I only stomped twice though.
I could probably get a friend if I had me a trailer like that.BR>
That looks like a great place to ride.
Posted by: bearaf
Nice pics, And that place is Oklahoma?
Posted by: nukeim
Wohooo! Good news! No tendons, or ligaments torn, nothing broken...Doc says that I have the worst bruising he has ever seen (hes about 65), and doesn't understand how I didn't break anything. I still feel like a train wreck, but I putted around a little today, and it felt OK, no jumping for awhile, but it looks like I'll be back in the saddle very soon....BTW physical therapists are evil, evil people.
Oh yeah...I got Saturday off Aaron, what's your schedule look like?
Posted by: bearaf
Thats good to hear Mike! I won't have a Sat free for awhile. I have a wrestling tournament every friday and sat for the next four weekends, but after that its clear sailing. I may be able to get away on a Sunday or two. Oh and by the way, the river N. of Guthrie isn't near as nice as Purcell, not near the area, at least not what I can cross. I've heard there is a nice place between Guthrie and Perkins though that I want to go check out.
Aaron
Posted by: nukeim
Cool. I think it's supposed to rain, and I will not be doing anything too strenuous anyway.
I'll be messing with my jetting a lot too....New pipe should be here by Friday BR>
I wouldn't be much fun to ride with anyway
Posted by: bearaf
I put one of those dial-a-jets on mine when I added my pipe, its works good and extremely easy to change jet sizes. Just loosen a screw and turn the dial and your done. Easy to install too.
Posted by: okbow68
Bearaf,
Yes that is oklahoma just north of Ringold, OK, between Rattan and Broken Bow. You should check them mountains out sometime.
shane
Posted by: nukeim
I really like the idea behind the dial-a-jet, but I have a Dynojet kit already. I had swapped some stuff for it, and a K&N (W/outerwears) a while back.
I like free better than Dial-a-jet.BR>
Three hours till my three day weekend....sweet.

SE oklahoma has a lot of scenery that you would not believe is in Oklahoma (funny I was telling that to someone in a staff meeting just last night) but yes, there are a lot of really cool outcroppings and limestone bluffs. If you go with us in April you will see some really really great sights.
Bob

Bobman Spudss and others interested in the GPS deal. Here is, (i finally rembered how to do it) a jpeg of some of the tracks of our pine creek ride from my Garmin Mapsource software. As you can see most of this ride was not on a marked road or trail, but now it is a track that I have saved and I can enter this into the gps and go back there and retrace this route whenever i want to. Hopefully this works. Well I cant figure out how to post the photo in the reply right now but here is a link to it, check it out.

I guess you cant put photos in the threads on this site I tried it from two different photo hosting sites and still cant get it in here, oh well click the link maybe it will work.

I have been here. I have just been real busy. I went to the movies Friday night. Return of the King...That accounts for 412 hours of my weekend alone. Then I went to visit relatives on Saturday and then today went to Stillwater to meet with some old friends. I have been here...just not "Here"....so once again not there but here.

Sooooo, what you are saying is that you havn't been here.....

I rode around for a while today, and I still hurt like a big dog. So no intense trails or jumping for a while, but I can ride, and that's all that matters. I'm getting better everyday with a lot of ice, physical therapy, and stretching. But I think I will be riding a little more conservatively for a while, so I should be around for at least the first half of spring before I try and plow more dirt with the nostrils. BR>
I got my pipe on, pulled the carb and jetted it today. I actually got it d@mn near perfect the first time. It's louder than I wanted, but not like a lot of the quads I have heard zipping around.
Oh...I have hurt myself more on those little Breezes, and LT80s than I ever have on a full size bike.

I havent seen EPP around...Anyone heard from him.

what is his name epp ?

Hey, does anyone know how much forum software costs?
Because we could sure use our own, as we are already up to 15 pages here, and can't choose a topic to post in.
I know it would be small, and relatively inactive, but a little easier to use for us, as far as getting hold of each other anyway.
Hmmmm....Would need our own domain too....I'll go look around.
Posted by: trailride
i agree mike, it would be nice to have a place to chat just for us.
Brent
Posted by: nukeim
I'm looking at Invision Power Boards website, and it looks like you can register a domain name starting at $15 per year.
And to have them host the site (and forums), not to mention provide tech-support in case of problem...That starts at only $10 per month.
Of course, there are bandwidth, and storage limitations, but It doesn't seem to be too restrictive for what we would need. I may be missing something, but it doesn't seem too outrageously priced.
Oh, and Invision forums are pretty easy to use, and a lot better than what they have here.....Many more options for the user, and admin. Look at GM-Trucks (add the appropriate dot com stuff) if you want to see what the forums would look like.
I wouldn't mind forking over some cash, just to learn how to do it....Of course, you would all have to call me "Boss" then BR>
Something to look at in future club meetings anyway. ( I don't think I will be able to make this one.)
Posted by: nukeim
Hey, on a totally different topic...Does anyone know if normal people (like us) are allowed to ride at the MX track on 59th, just east of Douglas?
I went by there today, and it looks like it would be a blast, but their signs didn't really indicate whether you had to be a racer or anything of that nature. All they said was crap about medical waivers.
Posted by: Spudss
I agree also I was asking bobman about it awhile back... That would be great to go to COAC webpage and be able to chat and forum with each other...I think it would help the club growth with Bobman getting different sponser sites added....My sister has a web site I can ask her what she did....EPP is a newer member look back on some of the other pages and he has posted...
Bobman hows the Shirts comin along?....I dont think Im going to get to go to the Little Sahara get together (NO RIDE) Unless I win the Lotto between now and then...LMAO Dont think that will happen....
Posted by: Spudss
Might be a ride at your own risk kinda thing.. and on non race days you pay a fee and ride... Maybe
I going to try to add some more pics to my profile... of Sandfest 03'
Posted by: trailride
Mike
any rider can ride at 59th but i dont know about quads though.
Posted by: nukeim
That's what I was thinking, but you would think that they would have a sign up with some info on it.
There was a guy driving a dump truck full of dirt down to the track, and I tried to flag him down, and he just waved and kept on driving.
I guess I will try again when I get a chance.
Do you know if it costs anything?

Info about 59th and Douglas. I have seen alot of guestions about Douglas mx park. I rode mx there for a few along time. It is owned by Baker Boys Yamaha in OKC. You can call there and they will tell you about the upcoming events or give you the track number that is just a recording. Practice is tuesday and thursday cost about $9 Saturday is the points race day. They also have a kick A** track in wellston. As far as ATVs I have only seen them at douglas twice and there were severe crashs both times. They didnt try and get used to the track they just went B*lls to the wall the 1st lap and it has several big jumps. Anyway, hope this info helps.
Also Feb 14/15 is a freestyle show at the ford center. My nephew is going to be in it......... Go Watch
Posted by: nukeim
Hey, thanks for the info!
So....If I show up on Tuesday, or Thursday with my quad, and $9, they will let me ride?
Posted by: bearaf
Quads can ride at that track at the Stillwater turn off. It's ten bucks unless the price has gone up. It has two tracks, a small for the slow riders and the big one that has a couple big table tops and good size doubles and triples, and step ups. I've been there 4 times and broke my chain on the same jump 3 of those times! Damn Polaris, guess I need a chain tensioner!
Aaron
Posted by: nukeim
That would be cool. I have never been on a track.
Posted by: bearaf
Unless it has changed, It is only open Fri - sun. Its is a blast though. I'll go back any time. I need to stock up on chains!
Posted by: nukeim
That sucks man...I'm shocked you havn't cracked your case yet, with 3 chains breaking on you.
Posted by: bearaf
Thats what I've heard, and its supposed to be an expensive fix. Hopefully that won't happen btu if it does I'm sure it will sit for quite awhile! Hell the way my luck goes I usually break first!
Posted by: nukeim
Yeah, I don't know about your bike, but on my Z, it would cost close to a grand if my case got cracked.
Sh!t, I dropped $150 on a new helmet today, you would think that I would pony up $30 for a stupid case saver.
Posted by: bearaf
I hear ya, grand to 1500 for new case. I keep buying other things instead of spending $50 on a chain tensioner which from what I've been told will solve those broken chain probs. Although I've been thinking real seriously about selling it and getting a raptor, Z, or kfx 400, reverse is a must, I'm Lazy!
Posted by: nukeim
Dude, get the DVX, it's got a bigger "cool" factor than the Z and the KFX...Even if it is the same bike.BR>
I'm with you on the reverse. I'm too old, and lazy to get off, and pick it up twenty times a day.
I rode a couple of Raptors, and they were OK, but I just liked the feel of the Z better. That, and reading of all the gremlins they seem to have, there was no way I was going to buy a used one, and the new ones were a little pricey.
I'll let you ride the Z, and see how you like it...If we ever get a common day off to ride.
Posted by: HavinSomeFun
Hey nuke
You need to call baker boys and find out what the winter schedule is. I am not sure if they are on the front track or the "winter track" and to also see if its a quad day or not. The other post was correct about the I-35 and Hwy 52 track in stillwater. Anyone can ride whatever they want there, Wheeler, Bike or a moped if you want. It's $10 and ride all day as much as you can stand. The table top at this track is a blast, It will send you 30ft up in the air if you want it to. Just dont do it on a windy day, I know this for a fact!
Posted by: nukeim
Cool...Thanks for the Info!
Posted by: trailride
well guys and gals, have a good weekend, its going to be nice saturday, so i hope some of us get to ride

Glad to see some fellow OKIES here! How many of you guys like to race on MX tracks?
If you do E-Mail me at wildraptor911@cox.net As of right now I am trying to work with Jeff Tony (Motorsportsnews.com) witch is trying to get a Quad only race at Sooner State and some of the other local tracks around the OKC area.
Posted by: nukeim
I don't think I would like to race just yet. It would be a good idea to try riding on a track first BR>
Gotta crawl before I walk...Or do a 50' double.
Posted by: WildRaptor911
Sooner State has play days you could see how like a MX track then. I'v never raced on an MX track either but I fell alot better flying over the jumps rather than trees that are only 4 feet apart! I'm glad to see there is a growing ATV club in Central Oklahoma, I tried to get one going a few years ago and I couldn't find enough people that were wanting to do the samething.

Hey Guys,
Our newest member is looking for a riding bud for Sunday. He sent me the following mail. I am all booked with other "projects" but if anyone wants to ride Sunday and find out about a place to ride that is actually in OKC drop Kevin a line. Here is the mail he sent me:
I wanted to mention/ask about this Sunday. It is supposed to be nice weather and I wanted to ride. I live close to the River/ Lake Overhaulser and can access the river from my House. The ride is from the Lake to Meridian, about 20 miles round trip with a little mud, a little sand, water and areas to climb. If you know anyone else that wants to ride for about 3 hours this Sunday let me know!
Here is Kevin's contact info from the directory:

So if any of you guys will be able to help him out drop him some mail

bobman did you get my E-mail I sent you..... about the chat room and all
Posted by: Bobman
Yes I received that mail. It's not that there has ever been a question of wanting to expand. Its the money. I am not willing (at this point) to pay a hosting service and register a domain as of yet. IF I know that the club is going to "make a go of it" and be around for some time to come then I would consider dropping a dime or two to siguning up with some sort of hosting service.
Right now I get at the VERY MOST 5-6 pieces of Mail per week from club members. Now I realize that may change in the furture as temps get warmer and people ride more, thier thoguhts will turn to riding activites and then I may get more mail. I have prompted people to send me riding pics to post on the page, none have arrived as yet so right now it seems as thoguh our page has not outgrown its limited capabilities on AOL. I am going to try to add a counter though sometime soon so I can track our hits.
When I run out of space at AOL then I might consider making the move to a new locale....but right now I am just going to "hold what I have" until I see how everything is going to turn out and how long we are going to be around. I hope we thrive and grow and need more space, but right now the AOL space is ample.

Posted by: Bobman
Hey Guys
I would like to extend my thanks to Mike and Shane for offering pics and pic hosting.
Shane, I have usually found that 640x 480 is a good size if there are 6 or more pictures. We can try 800 x 600 first and see where that goes, I can then convert them to 640x480 if need be.
Mike, thanks a million man, when we fill up the 10 megs (I think I get 10) here on AOL then I will starta "Picture page" over on your site. Your offer to host is greatly appreciated and will definitely be implemented after we have a couple of group rides and get a few photos.
So Gentlemen, I thank you greatly and look froward to getting pics from folks to post.
Bob
Posted by: nukeim
Well...My thinking is that if I host the pics, it will not eat into your 10mg of storage (even though they show up there), thereby leaving it open for whatever you want to stick on there...I have something like 60 mg left, so we can stick quite a few pics up, if need be

I think I just have cabin fever because I have been sitting on my keester for a month recovering. I'm probably only about 70 percent right now. But I have to get some air, and some saddle time before long, or I might just go nucking futs.

Hey SandTrax are you going to be at the meeting ?
Raymond
Posted by: Bluegoose
Mike,
What time would you want to ride on Saturday? I have always wanted to ride at the Lexington bridge. My 14 year old and I ride about any time it is above 0 degrees. The rest of my group are fair weather riders. If a person gets the chance to ride in January, it a good thing. Ty rides one of those green Z's. Kawasaki 400 and I ride a V-Force. We should be able to go riding before the meeting. Just need to pick a time to go get the quads dirty.
Ronnie
Posted by: nukeim
Not sure Ronnie. Most likely sometime after noon, that way we can go straight to the meeting (it's only about 5 minutes drive from the bridge)...Not to mention the fact that although I may ride in the cold, I'm not a glutton for punishment. It will be warmer at about noon.
Once I firm up a time, I'll drop you a note, and we'll work it out. I will be riding Saturday though. I don't care if it stays below 20...I'm riding. I have been off of it for too long.
Of course, I'm not sure I want your son there....I would hate to get shown up by a teenager
Just kidding of course.
See ya.
Posted by: Bluegoose
Mike,
Any time in the afternooon will be fine with us. Not sure how far when can ride any way. The river is up here at Ada but don't know about Lexington. It has been a week since I went over the bridge there. I will PM you later with my home email and phone number. I can't change my email address on this site for some reason. The one listed in my profile is like from three + years ago.

ronnie,
I was wondering how those dual hmf's sound on that V-Force... I had HMF on my 300EX and loved the sound.. I am sold on HMF you just cant beat the sounds, power, and quality of a HMF..Just wanted to know how yours sounded and performed.........
Thanks Ron
Posted by: Bluegoose
Ron,
The HMF duals sound, remind me of a Harley. The performance is fantastic on them. I'm sold on HMF. We are running them on three different bikes. The V-Force, a KFX 400 and a Baja X 650. I would put one on my wife's grizzly, but she said no, just to leave hers alone. I will catch her gone and modify the grizzly. It would run so much better.
Ronnie
Posted by: Spudss
Cool I love the mean sound of HMF.. I wont buy anything else...Cool maybe we will meet on a club ride sometime I would love to hear your V-force...

Bluegoose, his son, and myself went on Saturday. Got some riding done before the meeting.
It was great to see and meet you guys and gals! Hope we can get a group ride set up pretty quicky...Or more accurately, I hope it warms up soon....That way I won't be the only one itching to go.BR>
We might have to change our name to "South Eastern Oklahoma ATV Club" though, with the rate that people from Ada are joining though.BR>
Maybe, maybe not, but we should at least have a meeting down there at least once.....At Bob's BBQ (Some of the best BBQ in the world), and set it on fire again, for old times sake.
Posted by: blacksheepsix
Hey everybody, How was the big meeting? I intended to be there but I couldn't get off work.Oh, well, maybe the next one.
Those batteries go pretty quick, don't they Ron? If you have a 12 volt plug on your bike, the 12 volt adapter for your GPS is money well spent. I think they're only like 12 or 15 bucks. If you use it very much at all, You'll save that much in batteries in no time.BR> Anyway, I hope you guys planned some riding time at the meeting, I've been jonesin' for some seat time. I haven't been on mine in three weeksOf course, even if there is a trip planned, I may be lucky to get to go. One of the guys at work blew out a knee, and is out for an undisclosed amount of time, so days off may be hard to come by (that's why I missed the meeting). However, if anybody else can go ride during the week, my days off are Monday, Tuesday!Later

ya Nuke there are alot of members from ada... Im trying to recruite some more members from around my area so we can all car pool to the group rides and meetings..Kinda sucks living so far way...
Mike, ya those batteries went fast I was useing the back light alot to....Its a pretty cool unit I've had fun learning to use it....Havent went really to far but It will be valueble in the rides (hopfully )to come....
oh ya how was the meeting... Hopefully some good things came up... Any rides in the works? What other club things are new and upcoming?
Posted by: okbow68
Hey Spudss,
Along with that 12v adapter you might want to look at some rechargable NiMH batteries. The energizer brand of these that they sell at Walmart are what I use. They are 1900mha and they do just fine when you cant plug to a cigarette lighter. Have you got it figured out yet, how to navigate that is?

Hey guys...was sent a message from Spudss about your club. I would be interested. Let me know a little about it. For the ones who like excellent trail riding, we go pretty often to a place about an hour south of Muskogee. I know its a far drive for most of you, but you might consider it. I will give you a link to my pictures. We took some at Kinta and some at Camp Gruber. my email is as follows David and the link to the pics is Pictures >let me know!!!!
Forgot to mention.....at Kinta there are 18,000 acres on 1 side of the hwy and 75,000 on the other!!!!!!!!
Spudss, I tried sending you a message, but I screwed up. What can I say....I'm an Okie!

Trailride,
Is this for the logo? What about a Sport quad and a UT offset with COAC spelled out in a rainbow over top and some catchy saying in an upsidedown rainbow on the bottom...Just a suggestion
Posted by: nukeim
Hey Ron,
Do you know what a rainbow signifies in the eyes of millions?
Posted by: trailride
he he he he he he heood thought ron but i have to agree with mike. Im just not that happy when im on my quad.
Brent
Posted by: Spudss
I am talking about a rainbow SHAPE you know a circle cut out on the sides to make two half circles with the logo in the middle...

It was good to finally meet some of you guys at the meeting. Hopefully we can ride somewhere sometime soon.

Nice pics Okie!
So was there a ride planned at the meeting? I thought I read something about trying to go to Little Sahara soon?
Aaron
Posted by: nukeim
Aaron,
The consesus seemed to be that it's still a little cold to be hitting Little Sahara quite yet. Probably March.
If I had paddles, I would be up for it though...Regardless of the temp.
Posted by: bearaf
I've been there 3 times without paddles. I never had a problem and was just as fast as others with paddles. If your not drag racing you probably wouldn't miss them. My buddy has a Polaris trailboss 330 and he didn't have a problem without paddles either, he just has a slow quad!

Spudss gave me the hookup on the COATVCLub, sounds like you guys will be doing some pretty cool things in the near future. I haven't read through the posts yet to get more info, but I'll do that tomorrow. I'll pass whatever info I can find on to the guys I ride with. A big gathering to Lil Sahara would be awesome.. It just seems better the more people you know. Besides you don't have to crash as often, you can kinda spread the wealth.
Posted by: nukeim
Ssssshhh!!! I'm trying to convince me that I need paddles!

Pffft....If I go, I will more than fill everyones quota for crashes and mishaps. I seem to be a sh!t magnet lately when it comes to riding.

SAND,SAND,I NEED SAND !!! The 450 & the Raptor are collecting dust in the shop!
I'll go crazy before march gets here. But we better wait till march or we will freeze our booties off!
I've seen the temp. drop 30 degrees in 30 min. up there in February.
I had a great time at the meeting Saturday and im looking foward to riding together.

You do need paddles if your going to dragrace ME. LOL
Posted by: nukeim
Not much of a racer here. Not that I could keep up with a Rappy in the dunes anyway.
But you wouldn't want to race me ...Actually, you wouldn't want to ride within 50 feet of me, with the way crap has been happening lately. Birds in the chest, twigs in the eye, quad on the head, etc.....I need training wheels, or something.
Posted by: WildRaptor911
That Z will hold its own in the dunes, I've seen them kick a few rappy butts before(mine to)! How about a roll cage that would be better than training wheels!!!
Raymond
Posted by: nukeim
It will hold it's own, sure....But when some errant meteorite hits me, the Z probably will not fare so well.
I'm still trying to talk myself into paddles, just not sure that I can justify it right now.
Posted by: HavinSomeFun
Hey nukeim, I have a set of paddle tires (skat tracks) already mounted. If you decide to drag race you can use them free of charge. I know they will fit your Z cause I bought them for my kfx 400.
Posted by: nukeim
I don't see a KFX in your sig....Do you want to sell them possibly?
**Edit**
BTW, Thank you very much for the offer!
Posted by: Bobman
Wow...you guys have been chatting away here. I am just glad we got the rainbow thing cleared up. Ya know the Univeristy of Hawaii had the same problem I guess. They used to be the Rainbow warriors..now they are just The Warriors. I will send the one guy (Can't see his name here) some mail to see if he wants to join up.
I really had a great time Saturday night and I would once again like to thank all of you who attended, especially those people who took off work and used vacation time for it. That shows a lot fo dedication and like I said I really appreciate it.
Bob...
not to be confused with a rainbow warrior
Posted by: Bluegoose
Mike,
You don't have to have paddles at Little Sahara if you are content to go up the lower side of the dunes instead of the face. After riding with you on saturday, you won't be happy there without paddle tires. Yes you can get around without them but you can't really experience the dunes on a sport bike without them. We go to Little Sahara 10-12 times a year and we see people without them and 99% will have paddles the next time you see them. I won't take the V-Force until we get a set for it, but then I will probably be in the sand rail anyway and it dang sure has paddles.
Posted by: nukeim
Thanks Ronnie, that's kinda what I was thinking.
Posted by: Spudss
Hey Learning2fly,
Glad you found your way to the club... Getting more members in my area now We can car-pool to rides and meeting or somthing like that... Boy Im doing pretty good 2 guy in 2 days...Boy that sounded about as bad as the rainbow thing... Really Im not like that..But I do get pretty happy when I get on a sport quad...anyway I would like to say welcome to Learning2fly and PolarisOkie.

Okay...you all are gonna think I am crazy...wait you already do...wait I already am...anyway, Has anyone (probably skydiving people know this) has anyone seen any device you can attach to your helmet that will have a tripod mount...I am thinking it would be cool to do a helmet cam kind of thing for my camcorder. I know it would look goofy as hell but hey I think the rope light already took care of that. Let me know if you have any ideas where to get them.

Posted by: Bobman
Mike, thanks for the links....I was really looking more along the lines of a tripod mount witheh 1/4 inch screw that will allow me to mount my existing camera to teh helmet. I dont want have to buy a whole new camera. Plus my cam corder doesnt have the AV IN. so I would have to get a new recording devise. Looks like I am going to be stuck with hot glue and disecting one of my old tripods.

"stuck with hot glue".....Punny Bob BR>
Hmmm....I would be more apt to try and mount it on the quad before I punched any holes in my helmet (I don't think any glue would hold it very well)...Maybe on the bars or something, that way it would pan when you turned.
I could help you fab up a bracket if you want....Not sure about mounting a tripod on your head though. Might cause others around you to crash from looking at it.
Posted by: Bobman
Well I thoguht about mounting it to my front rack...but it would beat the camera to death with the shock and vibration. If I mounted to my helmet, my fat @$$ would obsorb all of the shock. The weight of the camera itself is not enough to give me whiplash if I stopped really quick. So I am thinking I might make somethng really strange....or I may just bite the bullet and order the helmet cam...Still undecided.

Perhaps the next time we go, some of you could come up. My trailer will sleep about 4 if anyone wanted to spend the night. (night riding is the best).

Brent,
Congrats on the new V-Force. You all will love it. I assume my dealer take good care of you. What color are you getting?
Spuds,
We are going to Little Sahara on March 14-20 (spring Break) and April 9-12(Easter Weekend) and then Memorial Weekend. We try to stay away from Snake Hunt and Sandfest. Just to many to ride around. There is always lots of neat quads and rails but just to many people. We usually stay in North camp or Cowboy camp. Just depends on how many is in our group for that weekend. There is usually 15-50 in our group just depends on which trip it is.
Ronnie
