Quad's ready, but having some techical difficulties with the trailer, I'm grounded till I either fix it or replace it. =-) Hopefully get it whooped tonight.

I won't know if or when I am able to go anywhere till Friday night. Looks like the weather is going to be awesome. What I'll end up doing is read Friday night where the groups are going and what time and make up my mind then.

Outlaw,
I "may" be able to hook up with you Saturday at Prague. What time were you planning on being there?

Little River Trails is planned for the 30th.

Mike,
You're welcome to join us at Prague if you want.

James

Let me put a whoop on my trailer tonight see where I stand. Having some bearing issues and have found that it's only rated at 45 Miles per hour, I've been pulling it 80. Gonna either beef it up tonight or go buy a new one.

Posted by: gsettle081

Mike
YOU can put your King Quad in the back of your pickup... At least for Saturday.
You guys could come SOUTH of the Red River and ride at Muenster. From Marietta, go west on 32 to Courney. There has to be a bridge somewhere around Illinois Bend, or Spanish Fort. Red River Motorcycle trails is three miles south of the Red River on FM 373, and FM 2382. If you LIKE Lake Murray, you will LOVE Muenster.
Gordon" gonna find the bridge to the OK side this weekend"Settle

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I have no pickup, it had 90,000 it broke twice, I fixed it twice and sold it for a gas efficient Golden Toyota Corrolla. If I had a pickup, I would never mess with a trailer at all, life would be great.

Posted by: gsettle081

OHHHHH!
For some reason I thought you had a pickup, and had just switched to the Corolla to save gas. My bad.

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I wish, my pickup would've taken a tank down there and a tank back, pulling the King. $$$

I'll get something worked out tonight. =-)

Go buy me a Hum-V and park The King on the roof!!!! =-)

Andy (and Mike and anyone else),
Would you guys be interested in riding a new area? I have a friend who knows where we can get some riding in at a little known area down by Holdenville Lake.
He just informed me that he will be camping at Holdenville Lake this weekend and has invited us to ride these little known trails. I'm taking him up on his offer and will be heading that way this Saturday. If anyone would like to come with us, let me know and I'll give directions and times. The terrain is described as very hilly.

James "getting over the hill is fun" Hale

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I'm opened. I've heard great things about that lake on the boating side of things, like never crowded. How about you Out18Law18?

Gordon, I need to stay fairly close this weekend as my brother and cousin are coming up to drink and party in the big city this weekend. Very rare event for them, they need to get out of Blair for a while.

I've sold my old trailer on the way home from work, purchased a new bigger kewler trailer. Won't look so goofy. =-) Easier loading, unloading as it has a built in ramp.

In the meantime I've spent the last three nights on the old one in frustration not being able to find the proper bearings or seal. I had one bad bearing in one side, so I am just replacing that, the race and seal. OUCH, the one bearing I replaced with was from Germany $19 for one bearing the seal was special ordered for $12. Be happy to get rid of this high maintenance trailer. At least the person I'm selling to, won't have to mess with it for a while. lesson learned when purchasing a trailer off of someone for $150, I must have at least $400 in it and many hours. Sold it for $200.

Hey Bob,

I got back a few days ago from spending the winter in western AZ. Got to ride 1500 mi. of trails and 6 days at the Glamis dunes. WOW!! they are awesome.

It looks like you guys have some rides scheduled. Hope I can make some. Are there any old guys riding or just young ones?

I would like to plan a Colorado trip in Aug. and a trip to the Glamis dunes in late Oct. or Nov. If any one is interested, let me know.

I sold the 2 trailers that I had last fall, but have a 4/5 quad trailer if anyone is interested.

I also built a 2 quad rack that mounts on a standard pickup bed. I sold it, but have the plans if anyone needs one built. I will build another in a few weeks as soon as I get a few other things done.

If anyone needs a trailer or trailer repair, let me know.

Good to be back home

Welcome back!!! As far as old guys riding, it will probably be me and Jimmy. Of Course, Jimmy is not as OLD as me or you, but then no one else is either. Send me a picture of your 4 place trailer.

Gordon" not that old" Settle

Outlaw,
Sorry you can't make it, but I understand - Altus is a pretty long trip from here.

For anyone else who would like to go, Holdenville is about 35 miles southeast of Shawnee. We're going out today to set up camp. I'll post tonight on where to meet and how to get there.

Charlie,
Good to see you back. Sounds like you had a blast.

Gordon,
Are you and Ginny going to Lake Murray next weekend? Angela and I are planning on making that trip. It'd be good to see you guys again.

James

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

Look forward to meeting you guys at Holdenville. Look forward to seeing the directions to your camp site.

I was researching distances, not sure where Outlaw lives in the city, but I'm in the area of 122nd and May. Prague is 70 miles from my house, Holdenville is a little more than 80. So only a little farther.

Later.

No we will not be at Lake Murray the 21st-24th. WE will be in Jacksonville at the Mud Nationals. We will try to ride with you guys at the Little River on the 30th. Just have to wait and see.

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

What time you gonna be up there James? About to go out and get the trailer loaded and moved around. I heard some thing rip in my lower back yesterday while moving them around. Gonna be a little crippled tomorrow, but not too bad.

Just need to know what side of the lake everyone's gonna be on.

See ya tomorrow.

Charlie,

Good to have you back on this side of the Continental Divide. I would be somewhat interested in a Colorado trip in August. Keith and I had one planned last year (Alpine Loop) but other circumstances prevented that.

I am not sure what my work schedule will be in August. I've recently changed jobs (Finally) so I am not sure what my schedule will be like at that time but I do know that one of the MAJOR perks of my job is that I do get 5 1/2 weeks of vacation time each year.

Where in Colorado were you thinking? I've only been to Denver and that was for less than 48 hours so pretty much any place in CO will be new to me as far as the rural areas go.

Brent,

I still plan on hitting Murray with you guys a week from tomorrow. Hopefully I will be good to go.
I may be bringing along a friend of mine whom I work with. He's still not sure yet.

Bob "Today's weather was too good to be wasted on the indoor workers" Bobman

Well, I gave Mike the info over the phone. But if anyone else would like to join us, here's the directions:

From Holdenville, go south out of town on Hwy 48 approximately 4 miles. The Hwy will make a sharp curve to the left and then you'll start climbing up a hill. Once you reach the top of the hill you'll see the lake and the Dam. DO NOT cross the Dam.
Before you reach the Dam, you'll see the boat dock on the left - turn in there and drive toward the water. From there, you'l be able to see the RV campsites on your right. We will be in campsite #3.

We will be leaving the campsite at 11:00 am. If you are running late, you can call me at 405-245-3553.

Gordon,
I hate that you guys won't be at Murray, but I'm sure the Mud Nationals will be awesome. Be sure to take (and bring us) pictures. We look forward to seeing you guys on the 30th.

Bob,
You got a new job? AWESOME Dude!!!! Five and a half weeks of vacation time must mean you're now an executive. Does your new office come with a "furnished" brass pole?

I am planning on going to the Gunnison area. There is a lot of riding in the area.
Went to the Buena Vista area last year. It is to the east of Gunnison. The riding was great, but the wife needs a larger town to keep her busy while I ride.

Holdenville a blast, thanks guys. We did a little of every type of riding, then found the river was low, so played out there. Definetly a great bunch of people.

May have to work this coming Saturday, see if and when I'll be able to make it. A computer developement room needs to be moved, not gonna let our PC guy do it alone. Hope I can work it out, as there are 4 guys coming to ride with me, be great to get them in the club. =-) Murray is going to be A BLAST, gonna do my best.

Ater you left James we drank more beer. John led us on a night ride down the river that was awesome!!!!!!!!!! After much travel and deciding we could no longer make it any farther we headed tword the trailers. and Darn, these wonderful people at the paviliion could not finished their BBQ so we starving and very hungry people had to graciously do it for them. Like a hungry pack of wolvles.

Being a man of his domain, I had decided not to camp and to go home, I made it safely back about 1am. I slept most of Sunday, completely wore out. Tellin ya my injured back got a work out as I could hardly move Sunday. I went out tonight and met a chick with leggs up to my kneck AWESOME, she's damn near 6" Have to see how that plays out.

End of the week will tell, I just don't know if it's mean't to be. If I don't have to work, my sister is visiting, thats if her kids don't get sick. She has one disabled, keep a close eye on his health.

I will know nothing, probably till Friday. I want to go really bad to Murray, but if it doesn't play out, I have to think about it that I have all summer, only way I can deal with the disapointment. =-) If things clear up and it looks like a go, I'm taking Friday off and spending all weekend up there.

Does anyone else have some of those Wal-Mart or Radio Shack 2-way radios? I have three I plan to bring. This would help us stay in contact with base camp and each other. Using these would help us stay in touch with base camp and we'd know when those who show up later in the day would arrive so's we could hook up with them. Plus, someone at camp could let us know when supper was ready BR>

James, I also have a couple of hand-held radi-di-di-dios. Say that out loud, it's fun. I'll bring them along...Unless I forget...I do that.

Aaron, Practice at 0830? Freakin' slave driver you are.

Anybody know if they're going to toss a hairball about bringing/drinking beer?

Posted by: Jamesh921

Mike (Nukeim),
You're right - saying radi-di-di-os is fun. Alot like saying ru-bub-er-maid.

Anyway, the only complaint I've heard from the park Hosts about drinking is that the riders throw their cans/bottles on the trails. As long as you don't do that, they will overlook consumption in the camping area. Course, you must be discreet and not run around with your underwear on your head screaming "Nuke Iran - Nuke Iran"!!!!!

In other words, if you don't litter or make a spectacle of yourself, they don't really mind. But SuzukiKing should know more about this than I - he's been there several more times than I.
What's your opinon SuzukiKing?

You shouldn't have a problem drinkin beer down at Murray, last time we were there we did and there was no problem and there was also a guy on a big 4x4 quad puttin around with a 55qt ice chest on the back just drinkin beer and this was on the trails.....so i don't think there's a problem...Chris

Whoever,

Is there electricity hookups at the campsites? How about cookers on a pole (or cookers NOT on a pole)? Is anyone bringing charcoal (if there are cookers with/without poles? What am I missing?

Jason "poles are good, especially brass ones" Brinker

Posted by: HavinSomeFun

Some of the camps have electric/water and others don't. They are all on a first come basis. Seems the camps on the east side of the entrance are premative (No electric) and the rest have hookups. I think the best site there is the one by the playground, I think it is number 15. close to the showers and restrooms!

Posted by: trailride

The rules are just the same for Little Sahara, as they are for Murray. Beer is NOT alowed into the trails but you can drink all you want at the campsites. We rode with the Ranger last time we went, and he said the day before he gave 3 tickets to drinkers on the trails. Its like a 160$ fine. OUCH .... So I will be doing my consumption at the camp.

By the way, The ranger is more than likely going to be riding with us most of the time. He is a pretty cool guy.

I35 to exit 29 (Hwy 70), go East (left), go 5 miles to Lindsey Rd (or Lindey can't look it up at work), that's where you'll see the gold horse on the left. Turn Right on Lindsey and go to first road on the right. That is the entrance to the park.
Rates are $7 per person a day to ride
$19 for RV parking (electric/water)
$8 primitive camping (includes trailers/camper) per tent/camper
Showers are 3 minutes for 50 or 75 cents, can't remember, so bring a handful of quarters.

We made it back in one piece & got everything unloaded. I had a BLAST & look forward to doing it again in the near future. Other than the run in with the hippies across the road (hope the second hand smoke didn't sink into my bloodstream in case of a test) I think the camping went very well, also. After figuring out exactly where I was, I realised that I have an uncle that lives about 7 miles due north of where we were camped and remembered the shortcut to Sulphur & saved about 20 or 30 miles.

Of course, I felt the need to light them up with the 2 million power spotlight. One of them decided to come over & attempt to bum a cigarette. I told him that he should have kept the one he was just smoking.. The rest is history. I think they came & stole some beer & breakfast food, but I'm not too sure because I was concentrating on the bear like soun coming from the tent next door. I will not mention the name because I would like to be invited on the next ride & his name rymes with tent.

I've tried to respond to this forum twice but my computer keeps locking up. Hopefully, it'll go thru this time.

Angela and I had a GREAT time at Murray saturday. My only complaint is that I didn't get to spend more time with ALL the members of COAC. But that's OK, I'll hunt you all down sooner or later.

Grab a sandwich and a beer - this may be a long post. I'll try to keep it as short as possible though.

Some of you may already know that the road into our property gets very trecherous when it rains. We've purchased a dump-truck and lined up a dozer and tractor to haul in gravel and fix the road "once we go back to court and win". Until then, we're not going to make any improvements on the road.

Anyway, so far there is a chance that it will rain this saturday. If it rains early, we won't be able to get you guys in. If it rains AFTER we get you in, it will be difficult to get you out.
With this in mind, we feel it would be in the best interest to take you guys to a riding area where we wouldn't face those kinds of challenges.

We know of an area where we can go that we know you guys will enjoy. The area has several challenging hills, interesting trails, some mud and even offers some trails for the youngsters (as per Greg's request). There is no doubt that everyone will enjoy this riding area and all are invited. Bring the wife, kids and food. We're going to have a blast.

We still plan on leaving from the Homeland parking lot (next to Pizza Hut) this saturday in Seminole, which is located on Hwy 99 (also known as Milt Phillips Avenue) at 10:00 am. If you need supplies, be sure to purchase them beforehand or arrive early to do your shopping since we will be LEAVING at 10:00 am.

Directions:
From the intersection of Hwys 9 & 99 in Seminole, go approximately 5 blocks south. You'll see Pizza Hut on the west side of the road. Homeland is directly behind it. In reality, we'll probably be parked closer to Pizza Hut than Homeland. Just look for the quads that are loaded and ready to ride.

Also, full-sized 4-wheel drive vehicles are welcome at this riding area. So, if you own one and want a place to try it out, bring it on.

This riding area is about 15 minutes from Seminole, so we won't have to travel far. There are no amenities, so be sure to bring your own toilet paper. There "are" some showers and bathrooms a few miles away if you need them.

If you guys have any questions, fire away.

The party this weekend is still on. As to location, the trails are looking good. I was able to drive all the way to the barn in my 2-wheel drive truck, it was a bumpy ride but I made it.

For all those who plan on joining us Saturday, please be at the Homeland parking lot before 10 am. I would like to pass out some information to everyone before we head out. We plan on leaving the Homeland parking lot at 10 am, so don't be late. We'll have to travel out to the trails together. If you arrive late, I won't know it, so I won't be able to let you in. You can call me on my cell if you are running behind (405)380-8896. Remember there is no cell service on the trails, so once we get there - we're there!

It looks to be a great time! BR>

Sorry you and Jason, Jimmy, and Old Mike missed this ride. I only had to be pulled out of the mud twice. Ginny never got stuck. Brent, no kidding, the next time you have to watch the kids, let us know and we will help. Ginny spent a lot of time with NEW NEW Mike's daughter. (NEW NEW MIke will be Richochet from now on. NOT Allballz) His daughter is 5 and can ride better than me. The River was down, and we had lots of good green cover to ride in. You guys are lucky to have James and Dave so close.

Greg... Just let us know when and where you want to go. We are ready. Maybe the 14th and 15 we can show you Muenster. It is only about 30minutes more from Murray. Muenster is at least 10 times bigger than Murray. You and Stella will love it.

Guys
Take a look at this and see if any of you are inteested. I will have more info later this week. (This is the post from the TexasATVs.com web site)

ATV Rodeo/Rally

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK guys and gals, this is real. The combination of General Sam's and Texas ATV's will be putting on an ATV rodeo June 11th and 12th. Some of you had responded to an earlier post about volunteering your time to help out. Could you please respond again so I can get a head count. All volunteers will recieve a T-Shirt for their time. Also, I need a head count of people interested in competing in the events. For those volunteering and wanting to compete, we will accomodate your time as necessary so you can do both. Also, I have already reserved 4 of thr RV hook up sites for our (Texas ATV's) use so I need to know who will be bringing their campers.

This is for Ute's and Sport Quads

List of Events :
Mud Bog (i promise it will not be as bad as Mud Nat's but still challenging) CL?
Tire Pull/Sled Drag (Who's really got the most power?)
Sand Drag Race
Cross Country Race (Timed event)
Tetter Totter (Balancing Beam Event)
Buddy Run
Poker Run (Open to everyone)

There will be a single pay entry fee of $35.00. This enters you in all events. All events will pay money based on number of entries and sponsorship.

Flyers will be ready soon.

All money left over after event payouts and event costs will be donated to a charity to be named in the name of General Sam's and Texas ATV's

GENERAL SAMS IS IN HUNSTVILLE, TEXAS. WE WILL HAVE CAMP SITES AND HOTELS AVAILABLE. THE TEXAS ATV GROUP IS A FUN BUNCH. LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. We could also be listed as a co-sponsor if you guys want.
Gordon

Posted by: out18law18

Gordon that sounds pretty cool to me. It would be great if we could get a big group to represent Central Oklama Atv Club to attend.

Posted by: gsettle081

I agree
I think we would some of the events. The Texas Bunch are good in the mud, but not on power and speed. I will keep you posted.

Posted by: Jamesh921

Gordon and I were talking about hosting some events like this last Saturday. I think it'd be pretty cool. I'm going to try to make this rodeo on the 11th & 12th just to see how it's run. I may compete too.

Hey Gordon - what event do you think I should compete in? Do they have an event for "the guy who pulls the most stuck ATVs out of the mud"? If they do, do you think I have a shot at winning?BR>
James "have winch will tow" Hale

Posted by: gsettle081

James
I think the tire pull would be good.... Heck I don't know anything about these events except the mud bog. The mud bog is just head into the mud and hope you get out before the other guys.

Some other events you would be good at:
1. Looking cool with your sunglasses
2. Loudest brakes
3. BEST BAR B QUE sandwiches
4. Best tour guide through unknown territory

Really, If you do enter the mud bog stuff you need to get you Yammy snorkeled. The mud will be THICK. Biggest thing is to have fun. These are pretty easy events to have fun with.

Who plans on riding before the meeting saturday? I will be there with about 4 people at or around 4pm or so.

Posted by: Brink74868

Gordon, Gordon, Gordon,

As long as you have been around (Both the COAC & roaming the earth)? I would have thought you would know that GoD juMpERs do not need ramps. You disappoint me, old grasshopper . GoD juMpINg does not just involve height, it is a state of mind. If you look Here, you will find that this person was merely attempting to be a GoD juMpER & fell short, so it's not about altitude my friend, it's all about ATTITUDE! Thanks to old, old Mike for use of that link (hope I didn't infringe on the copyheh copyheh copyriheh copyright there, sir). Oops, I think I said too much again .

Brent,

Sorry, bub, but this Saturday is the great colostomy festival in Prague, so I won't be able to make it to the meeting. I will, however get some riding in this weekend because I'm trading in the Crown Vic for a Grizzly this weekend. I have even installed red & blue lights. If it gets too crazy, I may have to use some of my SK training to get me from one side of town to another. You never know what may happen: I WILL be riding on the street. I hope I am able to keep from doing crazy street tricks & wheelies!

My sincerest apologies.... I should know God Jumping is an attitiude, and does not need ramps. My point was to convince OLD Mike that he did not have the victory in the bag. Again, I stand humbly corrected.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

This is just to remind everyone that the May 7 Meeting of the Central Oklahoma ATV Club is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 PM. The meeting is to be held on the S. Candian River at Purcell. We will meet at the north parking area on the river. We will not be meeting at the depot. The meeting is at 7:00 PM, thus allowing those who wish to ride beforehand ample time to do so.

In the event of rain the meeting will be held at The Broken Spoke Cafe which is on Broadway street in LExington (Just across the river from Purcell). Broadway runs east and west and is the busiest street in Lexington. There is a large sign that says "eat" and there is also an ample amount of purple Neon (yes I am serious ..Purple Neon). The Broken Spoke is on the north side of the street. You can not miss it.

For those of you who need driving directions, they are as follows:

Take I-35 South to Purcell (approximately 15 miles south of Norman) and take the first Purcell Exit. I believe this is exit number 94 or 95 and it exits TO THE LEFT.

When you exit you will be on Green Street. Green Street runs north and south. You will continue south on Green street. You will come to an intersection which has a Carl's Jr on the NW Corner of the intersection. This is Washington St. Proceed south through Washington and go ONE BLOCK south to Main street.

You will then turn east (Left) on Main and continue east until Main St. dead ends at the bottom of a steep hill. You will be right in front of the Amtrak depot.

Once you reach the depot you will turn right and proceed down a dirt road approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Look for the place where you can turn left across the tracks (Cross ONLY at this crossing). Cross the tracks and turn left (North) and drive along the dirt/gravel road.

You will go north and go back under the bridge and continue north until you see a yellow railroad switch sign that says P-65. Continue north past this switch signal for approximately 100 yards and you will see a turn off to the river. Take this turn off but proceed with caution as it is not the smoothest passage. Small cars may high center.

If you need further directions please feel free to contact me via E-Mail

Respectfully,

Bob

James
Our plans are to ride EVERY weekend we can. This weekend may be out because of Mother's Day. The 14th looks like Muenster. After that, I am not sure. We will ride with you guys whenever POSSIBLE. For some reason, Ginny likes hanging out with all of you. I think FLIPPER is a good name for NEW MIKE!!! I think he may be kin to Jason..... ( if you get my drift) Also, I guess we need to give Ginny a new nickname after her ride in the River. (Maybe drippy drawers, or something like that) I am not sure about camping at Brent's We don't do camping well. Also that weekend is the weekend before Ginny takes her 5th grade to outdoor school in the Arbuckle Mountains. She will probably want to stay around home and rest.

Also Who is this TrailChick??? Has anyone showed her the ropes?? Has anyone collected her dues? (Greg and New Mike are ALL Paid up with crisp new small bills). Has anyone welcomed her into the God Jumpers?? You guys have to let me know what is going on.

The Street KingsŪ will find her when she is worthy.

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I have flipped the King last weekend, I was attempting and determined to follow James up a hill he made. At one point I almost didn't attempt and went around. Will be the wise thing to do in the future. Coming to the top of the hill, I kicked in the Kings power, yes it went up the hill and back the front end came. I fell back wards. Laying on my back watching the King crashing down towards me, I kicked both legs at the beast, while James beat the quad down the hill (slow motion kicked in) and pushed it out of the way. At the time I was so happy the quad didn't hit me, I didn't care that all the body panels were hanging off, I smelled burning plastic and gas was running out all over. (The fasterners are designed to pop loose to relieve the body from damage. I'm gonna have to invest in fastner stock.) =-)

The impact the quad had on itself as there are many, many bent handlebars, internal steel pieces, thank goodness I wasn't under it. I've bent the handle bars back and am going to have some other pieces welded. Over-all The Kings not that bad. Just a little bruised pride on my part and knecks been stiff all weekend from whiplash.

James is quite the driver I think his quad and himself could go anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it weren't for his quick thinking, I may be still in the hospital right now. =-) Kings dry weight is 602lbs.

Posted by: gsettle081

I thought James was talking about when you flipped in the river. That was not nearly as dramatic. In fact , I think that time was on a flat river bottom. If you get hurt, Ginny is not going to let me hang out with you!!!

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I just need not try to follow James as his quad and him are one!!!! I think he can actuall climb trees, possibly even fly. =-) I will be more careful.

The river thing was kewl, that was the 4th time I had turned my quad into a boat and made it with out incident.

I did get my quad to play with I expect some bruises from time to time. I'm not into chrome, polishing or have a garage trophy. I have decided not to chip or add performance to my machine since last weekend, haha, maybe a governor and some training wheels.

My quad will be in SW Oklahoma undergoing repairs and modifications for two weeks.

Weekend after this one, I'm getting the two wheeler out and doing a road trip since I have the itch. 5 state poker run.

Unfortuatly this month for me doesn't look good for riding for me. Definetly looking forward to riding with you guys soon.

Remember,

In the event of rain the meeting will be held at 7:00 PM at The Broken Spoke in Lexington. The Broken Spoke is on the same road that you cross the bridge on. After you cross the bridge continue going STRAIT (Do not veer to the left) into Lexington and The Broken Spoke will be on your left (north) side of the road. There is a large sign that says EAT and plenty of purple neon.

How was the meeting?

Brink,
Eventful. Alot of fun. John, Chuck, Sean, Casey and I got there about 1:00 pm and there was no one around. Folks really didn't start coming in until around 3:00. We rode quite a way down the river and found some pretty cool trails.
Brent, Bob and the rest of the crew showed up about 4:00. Only one drowned quad (that I know of) but Brent and Mike (Ricochet) got it running again in no time. No major breakdowns - although I did lose my $25 sunglass goggles.
We had a BIG time and didn't get back to Seminole until midnight. I think we were the last of the COAC club to leave - and it was welll after dark. There were some sand drag racing late in the afternoon and some night riding as well. Can't wait to do it again.

Saturday night over a few beers and wire welder, big steele chains and a Chevy 2500 Diesel to pull my frame and parts straight. The King is one again. (After about the 5th beer it looked straight enough any way.) Left for plenti of riding in SW Oklahoma this weekend. Still a little reserved on my riding style after the crash as neck has not healed yet. We made some trails, hit some cliffs and rode the Red River. Great awesome incredible weekend.

When drowning my quad at little river last weekend, the rear end oil was spewing out the overflow. I guess I had gotten water in it a week before was foaming. Changed the gear oil all seemed fine.

Since selling my old trailer hauling it down and leaving quad for repairs. Quad will be in SW Oklahoma for the next two weeks. I'll be quadless.

Glad you guys had a great weekend also. =-)

I guess I will go to Muenster. May not have Ginny riding with me this weekend as she is going to OUTDOOR School with the 5th grade in the Arbuckle mountains, and wants to rest. She may change her mind (especially if a certain someone gets his new 5th wheel, and brings it to Muenster. I will be there regardless. Otherwise I will not get to ride this weekend. RIDING IS WHAT WEEKENDS ARE FOR!!!

Here is a new place for us to ride!!
Cross Bar Ranch

I think this is close to the Outdoor school Ginny goes to each year. The exit she takes is 54.

Did anyone look at the Crossbar Ranch link in Gordon's post? Looks like it might be a potentially good riding spot.

Bob "Anyone riding anywhere this weekend" Bobman

Posted by: trailride

Sounds like it may be fun to try in 2008, But im not about to go buy a pair of boots to ride a "new" riding area. I have seen places in oklahoma require helmets, but not riding boots. Lets see if i were to go riding at this ranch, I would spend a minimum of $250 and thats before i even paid for riding fees.

Brent
I'm glad you saw the part about boots. I did not read that part. I bet if we all sent emails to them they would change it. Or do like I do, wear Timberline boots, or cowboy boots. They did not say what kind of boots. I will check it out in a month or so.
Gordon "not going to buy riding boots either"Settle

Posted by: bearaf

Usualy when they say boots it just means something other than sandals. Usually just something hightopped and I would bet they don't check it, just a helmet.

Aaron

Posted by: Bobman

Brent...

I agree with gordon...I would bet that you already have a pair of shoes that would qualify as "boots"

Bob "I am wearing a helmet and hiking boots...and not one stich more" Bobman

Posted by: gsettle081

I have not talked to anyone at this new park, or anything but read their webpage. Ginny thought the boots issue might be because of the snakes. The outdoor school Lewisville goes to asks the kids to wear boots or ankle shoes from May to August because of the snakes. I don't know... But we will check it out as this is another place within 2 hours that we can ride. Ginny loves the Arbuckle Mountains as she has taught outdoor school one week a year there for the last 20 years.

I think Gordon's right about Bob's being right about Brent's being right. They can suck my @*%^*%#^& left toe if they think I am buying boots to ride a four wheeler. After all, I do ride a grizzly with tires that are too big & carry a gun.... What else do they think I need?? By the way, I also kind of frowned at the restriction on kids quads. It's not like I let them ride any more than half an hour at a time around the entrance, but I don't like being told to leave them home. Other than that, It looks pretty cool, but I agree with Brent on the waiting for more input before taking off there.

Has anyone ridden at Lake Draper or the new Crosstimbers riding area lately?
Are the trails at Seminole as tight as Drapers.
How about Camp Gruber?

Am trying to find somewhere to ride that has trails, but can get on the gas once in a while to air out the brain.

thanks

Guys
Here is something some of you might want to attend. It is the FIRST Annual ATV Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas.
Saturday June 11,2005. Send me a PM and I will send you a flyer and the web page links. This is a bunch of the people that rode at the Mud Nationals, and love to party. There will be prizes and lots of fun.

IF you PM me, then print some of the flyers off and give them to your dealers for them to display. The profits we generate will be donated to the Conroe Lions Club for them to help people less fortunate than us. I know it is a long drive, but it is riding with a BIG FAMILY group. They will have camping and a lot of kids to hang out with. Prizes will be given based on number of entries per event. There should be several hundred people at this event.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event Descriptions

Mud Bog : I promise a snorkel will not be a requirement. There will be mud and water but not chest deep all the way across. There will be classes very similar to the Mud Nationals Event.

Sand Drags : Denny at General Sams has built a 150ft+ long drag strip with an area to stop past that. There will seperate classes for utility(yes utility) and sport quads.

Tire Pull/Sled Pull : You've seen the redneck craze(yes I'm one too). If we can get a sled we'll use that. If not, Denny has some very large tires connected to cables. There will be size classes for this.

Tetter totter : I am building a 4ft x 10ft platform tetter totter. Lets see who has the best balance.

Cross Country : We'll be roping off a course through the woods and trails. nothing real extreme but still challenging for everyone. Once again, there will be seperate sport quad and utility classes.

Buddy race : Two people on two four wheelers leave out. Two people and at least one four wheeler must come back. Hopefully(mud willing) this will be a tough event. Team Work will be the key.

Poker Run : This will not be a race!!!!!! We'll line everyone up and a single file line will headout in the same direction.

There will be a cash payout based on number of entries per event and sponsorship levels

I've hit just about every single trail (and a lot of spots where I probably wasn't supposed to be) at Draper, but I'm not sure where the new riding areas are...Were they trails before, or are they completely new? If it's the trails Pictured here (southwest area)? If so, I've ridden them, they aren't very tight, and the area isn't very big. I think that's what they're calling "Crosstimbers".

Seminole isn't nearly as tight as some of the spots at Draper, and there are a few places to zip along at a pretty good clip.

I don't know anything about Gruber.

Maybe I'll pop out there today (Draper), and see what's up. (I'm only about 3 miles from there.)

mike,

the old crosstimber is closed. they are opening a new area this sunday about 1/2 mile south of the old area. i rode it last week on my motorcycle with some of the trail crew. it is in the sw area by the campground. they are closing all of draper to riding except this new area. the new area was tight on the motorcycle. there is about 7-9 miles of atv trails and another 20-25 miles for motorcycles only.

The city of OKC owns the land. an off-road park is a good idea, but they are concerned about errosion, so there are no creek crossings or hills. no jumps, no drag strip area, no mud. nothing but trees to grab a handlebar or rear axle.

I've ridden draber since 1971. I miss the old area with ruts and hills and good times.

I need a good riding area

Well that just sucks big and greasy donkey balls.

Makes me want to go buy some land, and tear the sh!t out of it just for spite.

Posted by: TheSuzukiKing

I'd originally heard 25 miles of ATV trails. Kinda sucks, (sorry Greg) that we'll be limited to 7 or 8 miles of trails.

Be great for Griz Greg since he's part of both worlds. =-)

Also...anyone have any cool Memorial Day plans ideas etc?

Memorial weekend will be spent in Mena, Ark. on the WolfPen Gap trail system. This will be my 2nd trip and it should be another blast!

Kevin

Kevin's plans sound excellent. One day I'm gonna ride Mena, but this Memorial weekend will be spent near Muskogee and Tallequah, OK.

Saturday, the wife and I will ride at Camp Gruber in Braggs, OK (near Muskogee) and Sunday we plan on floating the Illinois River (near Tallequah).

Anyone else going to be in that area?

James "on land or on water, it's all about negotiating the trail" Hale

James this is Grizzly Greg, I have a small group going to Mena Ark. in Aug. It wil be a three day trip Friday, Saturday and Sunday were staying at wolf pen gap also.

Posted by: GrizzlyGreg

Mike have you ridden lake Murry? I really like it out there, lots of sandy trails with the wash board affect . and alot of open trails you can zip up and down on

Posted by: gsettle081

Greg
Ginny, Josh and I are going to Muenster Saturday, if Davis does not work. I did not think Crossbar Ranch was open until Memoerial Day. ( if that is where you are headed.) WE still want to hook up with you and Stella.

My wife wants to go to Branson, Missouri for vacation this year. Of course, my first thought was "I wonder if there are any ATV trails near Branson".

So, does anyone know of any?

I finally took some pictures of the 4 quad trailer that I have for sale. Used it to haul quads to the desert one time. It has about 3000 miles on it. like new.
It is 8x18, 16 tie downs in floor, locking aluminum storage box has 5 compartments for riding gear, tires, tools, etc. on front, fuel jug rack, low profile tandem w/ brakes, 4000#capacity, gets great reviews, cool trailer

If interested,email me petersmoto@aol.com, I can e-mail some pictures.

thanks

Are you riding anywhere today/tomorrow (Saturday)? If so, where. I may hook up with you.

Charlie,
Email the pics of your trailer to me at harmony@okplus.com I "may" (no promises) have someone who is interested.
