News Years Eve has way tooo many drunks and crazys on the road.
Maybe you can direct me to the park from your store, and I can ride for an hour or so, before the pack gets there. BUT don't get up early on my account. If you are not there until 11AM that is cool. I just don't want you guys to have to wait on me like last time in Antlers.
Maybe Jason will be up by then, and can show me around. Anyway, It will be good to see you guys again. I just wish Ginny would be coming with me.

Jason--why did you change avitars again. What is this? Your old avitar was so appropriate.

Bobman--send your resume to me. I may have some contacts in Oklahoma City that could use your skills, and would let you off for the holidays... At least Fesitval of Diversity Day.

Hey Gordon,

I will let you know soon if i can make it. I might need a bed so i can sleep the drinks off on the way down.

You know you can sleep in the truck on the way down. Part of the reason to go to Seminole is to take Ginny'y new truck and break it in. I will pick you up at 6AM.

Hey James,

I hope you have a place for Gordon to sleep. He likes to take long naps. I guess old age will do that to you. Everytime I call his house, is wife says he is taking a nap.

Posted by: Brink74868

Thanks, Outlaw!

That was at the very least annoying, but it did keep me from falling asleep this morning!BR>

Gordon,
To get onto our property we must pass thru 3 gates (which we will eventually replace with cattleguards) and the middle gate is LOCKED. So, unfortunately, if you get there early you won't be able to get in. It may be better if you postponed leaving Texas until 6:30 or 7:00 so's you won't have to wait around until 11:00 for us.

David,
Gordon can either cuddle up on the ground and we can cover him up with dirt to keep him warm, OR he can sleep on the way home - which means you'll have to drive. I'll let you make the call. BR>
ROOOOOOONNNNNNIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE (Ronnie),
Are you out there dude? Can you and your crew make it on New Year's Day? It's gonna be a GRAND time and we sure would like you guys to be there. Please post and let us know.

Bob,
If'n you ain't done it already, send your resume to Gordon NOW. We want you to have free weekends so's you can hang out with us.

To everyone else,
Come ride with us. We're going to have a BIG time!!!!

Thanks for being so nice as to cover me up with dirt!! Sounds like being buried to me. I will be fine. David can drive home, and I will sleep. That is what you YOUNG GUNS are for. To keep us old guys going, and take care of us.
There may be two or three others meeting us there from Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. I will let you know final head count later this week.

Jason
I will call when we are in Seminole. I don't want to wake you too early and p...s you off.

Andy
I finally got to look at your video. IT was great, BUT the ABC song was MUCH BETTER!!! The rest of you need to take a look at it. (Jason,... Missy does not need to see the ABC song)

BTW, I hope you guys don't get too mad if Ohio State Beats your Oklahoma State boys. I have to holler for Ohio State as Ginny graduated from there, and a wife trumps friends MOST of the time.

bob heard about a place hiring warehouse help for 14 per hour a food service place off the broadway ext around hefner. dont know the name but it was monday thru friday only my friend and if i hear the ad again i will listen closer for the name of the place.

Outlaw...

Thanks for the heads up on the job...I don't exactly have the physique to work in a warehouse...hahaha...seeing as how you have never seen me, just ask a couple of those who have...haha I am DEFINITELY more suited to an office job. But in all honesty I do appreciate the offer. I have a feeling that something pretty good is just around the corner as ffar as my job prospects go. But again thanks for thinking of me.

James,

I don't know yet. If Ty gets him a doe on Friday it would help the chances. Matt will be in Kansas City for the New Year's. I should have said for the week. They are leaving Thursday until the following Monday. He has a cousin that lives about 60 miles north of KC. They are very good friends, so north he is going.

If we can we will be there. It was a blast the last time we were. I will check with Mellisa about the pictures from the last time.

I will let you all know as quick as I figure it out.

I'm not sure it will be safe for Texsans that root for Ohio State to cross the border if Oklahoma State loses.

We will check back here later in the week.

Well it looks like sunday will be the day i can go for a ride. I really wished we could have planned this for sunday .

Brent

Posted by: Jamesh921

Ronnie,
Well, do what you can dude. We'd sure like to hang out with you guys again. And I agree, Texans who root for Ohio State "may" be inducted into the "ICY Little River Hall of Shame". We love Ginny, but those who support Ohio State against ANY Oklahoma team seem to sink deeper and faster in Little River. Gordon may have to have JASON pull him out hehe BR>
Brent,
You HAVE to be there Saturday dude. YOU've got to show everyone how to climb trees again. That was one of the highlights of our last ride. Plus, you're the only one who was willing to let me put my beer in your cooler. BR>
Everyone else,
Bring a camera!!! This will be an event you'll want pictures of.

I just wanted to let James know that about 40% of Seminole P.D. will be there on Saturday. Jack, Tim, Dusty, & Wade (former P.D.) are planning to show. I am gonna try to get a little sleepy after 2 or so (Drunks willing!!) so I should be ready to go when Gordon calls.
Brent, As much as I hate to admit it, I may need some help if we're gonna be near water, so Bring Andy (Medic 51) and some beverages. I will be there with a spare (in case of any unforseen unfortunate incidents) BR>

Are you bringing the new Seminole PD sport quad? I think you should patrol James' place with that machine. You can turn the siren on and chase us.

Wait...What?

Group ride?

When?

Sweet.

I'm-a-gonna-try-ta-be-dere.

Posted by: trailride

How about it Bob. You going to make the ride Saturday ? Aslong as i dont tip the bottle up too often that night before , i shall attend. I might even get my wife to go on this one. But we have to stay out of that tight trail in the woods, you know the one thats not quite a trail yet. She would have a little trouble in there.

P.S. it can and will be muddy in parts so do not expect to stay clean.

Brent

Posted by: Jamesh921

Jason,
Funny you should mention that - I ran into Jack and the rest of the Seminole PD last night. We passed through a road block they had set up on Boren Blvd and Jack was the officer who came to my window. He told me that they were all planning on coming Saturday. Looks like we're attracting quite a crowd.

Mike,
Where you been dude? Haven't seen you post in awhile.

Yep, group ride this saturday. We're all meeting at 108 E. Broadway in Seminole at 11:00 a.m. Hope you can make it.

Brent,
My son and I rode out there on Monday. The only mud left out there now is in the marsh and, of course, in the river. However, there "is" a possibility of rain Thursday. And if it rains, there will be some mud. But it shouldn't be as bad as last time.

I have a brace on to hold my shoulder in line, called a figure 8 brace.I like the Percocet pretty well. I enjoyed the ride until that. Thanks James, I hope top be out there again soon, the place is GREAT. The Doc said it would take about six weeks to heal. Thanks for everyones concern for my well being.

How did I miss that? What happened?

Sorry to hear it man. I broke my collarbone last Christmas eve. I definately feel for you.

Piece of advice for you though. Next time, break it before the holidays. That way you don't have to wrap presents, cook, or clean. Just drink the beer, and get the sympathy from the ladies.

Posted by: gsettle081

Gee whiz guys... we sure had a lot of fun. I will post the pictures I took later today. I agree, James place was FANTASTIC. Ginny is sorry she could not be there. I think we should try another ride soon. In the meantime, James you need to build a helo pad. I should be 50' in diameter, 6" concrete, and painted. Should only cost about $100,000. Then we could fly people out when they get hurt. You may have to go up to $5 per person to cover the cost.

Jimmy...Glad you are ok. Keep us posted on your progress.
Mike.. Did your pictures come out? Post them if they did.

yeah, we need barry and his machine gun toting players back. maybe we could put in a good word for them when they come up for parole.

bringing barry back? we'll call that "plan B". like re-marrying one of your ex-wives.

have you considered the fact that barry switzer has been fired from every job he's had?

All I can say for the Norman, OK Barry Switzer of old is you could count on the 80's Sooners to come from behind and actually play. I miss the old 4th quarter come-backs of the Switzer era. Is Hollieway in prison too? I know Anthony Stafford is not in jail for I went to California with him earlier this year. and on the subject of football

yes USC deserves the title. but they didnt necessarily play their best game. they didnt have to.

OU gave them all the help they needed.

but auburn didnt have any business on the field with either of those teams.

and lets face it ... OSU is, was, and will ever be little more than a votech school. if not for their school or vet medicine, they'd pave the whole thing.

I just bought my wife a 04 Polaris 500 sportsman H.O., it rides great and the 4wd is awesome, but the thing keeps gettings stuck in reverse. I have to kill it and then shift out and even then some times it is hard to get out of gear. I can do anything with a sport bike but these utilities are new to me. Does anyone own one of these or had this problem? Maxeys Polaris said bring it in for 75$ a hour, YEAH RIGHT!!

you might try the forums at www.highlifter.com as they have a tech section and a polaris section.

and i think it might end up being too cold for me to get out on the 17th after all but thanks for the reply.

Try the Polaris forum here. Anytime I've ever had a problem or question about my Polaris I've gotten a real quick answer that was always right on.

I would tell that dealer where to shove it for 75 an hour. I would sell it fast and buy a Yamaha. They would fix that under warranty. Go the the BBB and then they might fix it. Just my two cents for the day.

I'm in Tulsa Trail Riders, very new member. (Still havent made a meeting but I paid my dues) Mostly 2 wheelers but they are trying to get more quads. Let me know if you guys get any rides going. We have a couple guys who like to camp out and ride. Always fun to meet new folks to ride with as well as new places. That river riding you were talking about sounds fun. We are going to Little Sahara sometime soon. Never done sand, should be an adventure.

Hey SoonerJoe...If you want some pics of what the river looks like...Click the link in my sig.

River also has a bit of trails, and some decent mud on occasion. I just never had the camera out in those areas.

Bob,

I have, on several occasions, entered the localized Nodule of Agnes under impulse power and felt the temporal shift, thereby causing a rift in the Nodule's space/time continuum by my passage. The concave deviation is a wonder to behold.

Both of your questions can be answered in one word E-BAY!!!

I buy all my goggles on E-bay...search for "Motorcycle Goggles" and you will usually get 75 - 125 matches...everything from retro "Red Barron" goggles like I wear to the newest hi-tech stream line goggles.

E-Bay motors (A sub division of original E-Bay) is an excellent place to look for use quads...as is www.traderonline.com

Hey Brink, not to sound like a superficial sissy but my quad isnt really built for water or mud for that matter so I try to avoid it like the plague!! Dont get my wrong, when its warm and there is no chance of some nasty stuff ending up in my air box, I will get muddy with the best of them, especially now that i bought my wife a Polaris 500 Sportsman HO. When I am on my quad, I stick to the sand and dry trails. As soon as I get reverse fixed on that Polaris, I will start muddin regurlary though on her quad, mine is set-up for jumping and a little drag racing for now.

Pro Grip are some of the better ones out there. The next set I buy will have the "light sensitive" lenses. They get darker when exposed to light.

RM ATV carries them, but appear to be out of stock at the time of this posting.

Posted by: gsettle081

You guys are AWESOME!! Thanks for all the answers to my 2 questions. The Pro Gear is exactly what I was looking for on the goggles. I am searching for Quads on ebay motors, and the trader magazines, etc. I also talked to our buddy James about 4 quads in Oklahoma this guy is selling. Maybe I can find one.

Is there a place that tells what used quads are worth? Like Edmunds for cars?

The reason I want another quad is this: If we have a couple to ride with us, we need a FOURTH quad for one of them to ride if they don't have one. How do you guys handle this situation? If your brother in law, friend, or someone wants to ride with you, and they DON'T own a quad, what do you do?

Posted by: nukeim

Tell him: "Man up Nancy, buy your own".

Posted by: gsettle081

" Man up Nancy"??? Is that an Oklahoma phrase? Never heard it before.
Most of the people riding with us will be family. If we don't have an extra ATV we will not get to ride when they come down, OR at least not Ginny and myself. I rode when her sister came down, but it was not nearly as much fun as when she is there.

Tyler

Posted by: TyShark9

Well, I just got back from the river and man, what a day. When I First got there I was stopped by a cop on the dirt road heading to the river. so I got out and talked to him for about 30 minutes. He said that we can ride on the river, but we can't be on the railroad property. so I asked him how we are supposed to get there, and he said that this was the only way to get back there. He also told me that they arrested someone yesterday cause ther were a lot of people riding ON the railroad tracks and getting in the way of people working on the tracks. The reason that they "closed" the entrance to the river is because of the dumb bastards that wouldn't listen to the railroad workers and get off the tracks and staty out of their way. there are miles of trails by the river, but these idiots want to ride on the road. WTF? anyways, the cop told me that he was going to leave soon, and if I drove around the block one time, he wouldn't be there to stop me. So, he pretty much told me that I could ride after he left. so I get to the river and start riding and hit this big ass mudhole and sink the quad up to the fenders. Then out of the woods came this hippy. Kinda scared the hell out of me, but he asked if he could help me out and I let him. So after 30 minutes of pulling and tugging we finally get it. I told him that I would pay him, buit I didn't have my wallet. Then he asked since I didn't have any money could he ride it. So I thought abiout it for a while and finally said "ok." I felt like I had to, i mean, we were in mud up to our knees. he took it for abiout 15 minutes and then came back... thank god... the he asked me if I brought a joint...lol... I was like "Uhhhh nope, i forgot it" then said I had to go. Loaded up the quasd and got the hell out of there. So, thats my story and I hope it was good BR>
Tyler

Posted by: nukeim

Dang dude...You've got more sack than I for letting him ride it. You're lucky you still have a quad!

Posted by: JeffGordonHater

Man that was a wild day, I was going to go down there but I was told the river was too high to ride. Hopefully the cops chill out down there but once again it only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel. We did ride at Draper today and I found out that they will be closing the main trails on May 31 and everyone will have to ride down the road by the marina starting on June 1. Supposedly there is 25 miles on trails there and 10 for quads that are all maintained weelkly. We'll see.

Tyler & The Hippy

Ty,

I don't know if you or any of your fellow "Board Buddies" realize it, but I think you were actually visited by the epitome of greatness. I mean let's look at the facts of the event. This hippy sort of appeared out of nowhere, he aided you in your time of need, and he was willing to recreate pharmaceutically with you. I think you had the great privillege of meeting with, and indeed partaking fellowship with, "The Old God Jumper of The Teutonic Enclave of the Majestic Servants of Slobobia"...or in the common coarse language of the general public, A Street King...that particular Specimen may go all the way back to the first generation of BlAsTiNkId himself.

You had mentioned in the past that you were considering selling your quad...well now that this fortunate turn events has taken place, I would not let if go for anything less than $400, 000..forget E-Bay...Call Christies of London. I am sure that collectors and potentates all around the world would fight blood feuds for the opportunity to bid on your blessed machine.

Everyone must be busy. No one posted all weekend.

We were busy. Even though it was cold, we had a pretty good turnout. Had two quads drown their quads in the river and two very cold riders who were soaked up to their necks. They drove off into a deep hole by mistake. They took it all in stride though and just laughed about it. Said they'd be back when they dried out.

We had another guy who drove 30 miles to ride here, only to find out he forgot the key to his quad. He drove all the way home to get it and came back to ride though. He and his 3 buddies fell in love with our marsh and spent alot of their time muddin' around in it.

It was a great weekend and everyone said they'd be back - even the two guys that drowned their quads. I can't wait til the weather gets warmer.

Ride on forever,
James

Posted by: gsettle081

I was real surprised no one posted anything over the weekend. Guess everyone was riding except ME.
James, I love your new web page. The pictures of Jarred's Bog are cool. You should post signs about how "EASY" it is to cross. Maybe give prizes to quads that make it across.

Posted by: Brink74868

James, Maybe I'm doing something wrong (It has been known to happen), but My laptop isn't opening any of the pictures on either page. It could be AOhelL, too. I forgot/had to work Saturday and laid around the house all day yesterday being lazy. We'll get back down there again so I can pull Gordon out of the marsh AGAIN. I added a few top secret accessories that are invisible to the untrained naked eye.

I did just get off the Ol' Grizz a little bit ago. I got the basketball goal put up from Christmas (before the divorce) and got to put on 15 or 20 miles today so I feel better. I almost forgot how to ride by myself, but it all came back to me. If only I would have had a hippy come out of the woods for me, it would have been a complete day!!

Glad everything is going well for you. I will be back down there when I get healed up. The Doc says the collar bone should be healed after about 6-8 weeks so that will put me about middle of February to first of March. I am ready to ride NOW. Friday would have been an awesome day to ride. The pics on the website are cool. Look forward to seeing more in the future.

anyone riding on saturday?

Posted by: Jamesh921

Gordon,
There was one rider who "attempted" Jerrod's bog. He said that he dropped the nose of his Arctic Cat 400 into the bog and that's as far as he went. End of story.
A bridge was built to the west of Jerrod's bog so folks that can't master the bog can still get through the trail, but I suggest that everyone try to get through it at least once.

Jason,
If you're on a dial-up, the pics do take a minute to load. Otherwise, I don't know what could be the problem. I'm able to pull them up on my computer at home and the one at work. Anyone else having problems bringing up the pics?
Also, at the bottom of the webpage there is a link that says "More Photos". These pics were taken Sunday January 23rd (yesterday). If you look closely, you can see a tow-rope between the quads in some of the pics. Those were the guys who drowned their rides in the river.

Jim,
Glad to hear you're healing up. It sucks when you can't ride.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone enjoys the nice weather we're suppose to have this week - and I hope you get to ride. My wife and I are gonna take advantage of the 70 degree weather tomorrow (Tuesday) and ride. Hope you have the opportunity to ride yourselves.

James

Posted by: nukeim

He drove all that way to get a key?

It probably would've only taken about 3 minutes to hotwire it.

Most quads, the hardest part is getting the plastic off. The two wires (coming off the key-switch) have quick-connects that can be just plugged into each other to complete the circuit. The start button would then work like the key was on.

The right proportions of duct-tape, bubble gum, and a small Panamanian tree lemur would also have done the trick.

I don't think we will have a problem riding at the river this spring/summer, as long as we keep everyone off the tracks. I know that none of us ride on them, but obviously there are some idiots that think it is fun. So if you see any of them riding on the tracks or on the road by the tracks, you all have my permission (because I guess I&39;m the special permission giver) to exterminate them in any way that you see fit.

Tyler

Posted by: Jamesh921

Regarding the river concern, I wonder if it would be possible to lease the "access" to the river from the railroad company.
If the Central OK Club (or anyone else for that matter) could lease the "access" to the river from the RR, and charge a fee to use that access, then you would be able to control/mandate who could access the river from that point. And if you had that ability, you could deny access to the trouble-makers. This scenario seems like it would be a win-win situation for the responsible users AND the RR. Couldn't hurt to ask - and maybe Bob and/or Jason could offer some legal advice in this area.

I'm sure monitoring who came and went through this area would make the RR AND the local authorities feel more comfortable - especially if you worked in concert with them. Lord knows that the public authorities would welcome aid in helping with security concerns - kinda like a "neighborhood watch" program.

Just a thought that the locals there in Purcell may want to look into to protect their riding area. Plus, it would show the rest of the community that most off-roaders are interested in providing positive, responsible riding areas.

James,

You have to remember that the RR has no vested interest in allowing ANYONE access to the area. As far as negotiating any kind of lease that may not be possible. I am NOT an attorney but I think that even today railroads enjoy that coveted position of purveyors of Eminent Domain. In the early years of America's transportation history railroads were given "Eminent Domain" over all lands within 20 miles of the railroad track...on EITHER side. That was a 40 mile path along the course of the railroad tracks. The original intent for that was so taht the RR could be certain to procure access for the equipment and workforce necessary to construct the Transcontinental RR. Over time after the tracks and routes had been long established the scope of this doctrine was diminished to a much smaller area on either side of the tracks. I am not sure how far on each side of the track ED extends now days but the 8-10 feet beside the track is more than covered. Anyway..all of that is a sort of moot point but is just to serve as a background for what I am ASSUMING is a point of law...again...not an attorney just assuming. The RR owns that property BUT they acquired it through ED. My GUESS is that propery acquired via ED can not be leased out to an organization which does not qualify for said status. By this I mean that the government (Who actually acquires the land under the doctrine of ED then sells it back to the RR at what used to be a pretty small price) would probably NOT consider a recreational user group to be of national importance...so my guess..again just a guess is that the RR could not lease this land to us even if they wanted to. I may be wrong but that is just a GUESS.

I am currently trying to purchase 1.5 acres that is bordered by the river giving me over 600 ft of river access to ride of fish or whatever so hopefully this will solve our issue. i will let you know when this happens.

I have wanted to check into maybe leasing some land on the river. Just enough to get us too and on the river .

Since Mike was so good as to give permission to exterminate do badders, I have devised several ways to accomplish this. Some are good ideas, and some have come to me during a period of caffein / nicotine overdose.

1.) Hide in the bushes with a high powered rifle and scope (beware of hippies that materialise from nowhere).

2.) Hide in the bushes with a tranquilizer gun (less lethal, but you still get to shoot at them, still looking out for hippies and their old ladies).

3.) Ride along side those on or too close to the tracks with a projectile shooting taser gun. (Again less lethal and still gets the point across).

4.) My personal favorite Ride along side those on or too close to the tracks, bulldog them off their machines, and beat the piss out of them all the while saying "Stay on the river, dumb@$$".

5.) Camo up, hide in the bushes, wait for people to be stupid, run out of the bushes, tackle them off their machines, and beat the piss out of them all the while saying "Stay on the river, dumb@$$".

Please let me know which one fits the best and we can take shifts. I'll take the first shift and give classes for those not comfortable doing these things alone. BR>

IT seems that it would just be easier for everyone to get on the river at Norman. as it is closer to the city and easy to get to (even for my lowered truck) and no sorry ass railroad bitches to put up with, and i have never seen a dirty hippie there. if anyone want to know the route let me know and i can tell u or possible take u there as it is pretty close for me living in moore.

Posted by: bearaf

I'm definately interested on how to get there from Norman, I make the drive from Edmond and the less drive time the better, especially when I have my son with me.

Thanks, Aaron

Posted by: TyShark9

I would love to know how to get on at norman.. jsut takes me five minutes to get to the bridge at that part of the river. Please tell.

Tyler

Posted by: Bobman

Ty,

I have heard that there is a river interest just south of Hiway 9 near I-35...from what I can tell it is located near the Presidential Garadens Apt. Complex...you might go check that for us.

Bob

Posted by: out18law18

u hit the nail on the head bob! from okc take i-35 south to hwy 9 east then turn right (south) at first stop light (24th st) then take next right (west) and follow road around curve until it dead ends at the dead end hop the curb and head off to the right (south) park in the field anywhere to the south of the mound of dirt and there is a trail big enough to drive a big truck thru that leads to the river. parked there at least 20 times with no probs and most of the time there is already other vehicles there.

Hey,
The collar bone is healing well.
I am thinking about going with some new tires. I ruined one of them on a stump that punctured the sidewall. I know Trailride and BigTex have some aftermarket tires. Do you guys like them and what kind are they? I have been looking at the ITP Mudlites. What do you guys think of those as an all around use tire? Any suggestions would be apreciated. See you guys out there again soon!!

Jimmy"Ready to ride again" Monteith

Posted by: Brink74868

Jimmy,

Glad to hear the arm is healing up! I have a set of Mud Lites & I can't complain. They are (very) agressive and are a bit rough on pavement and tear the hell out of the yard. I would suggest any radial & ATV Television suggests the Holeshot ATR as a close to stock tread, but radial performance. I suggest watching ATVTelevision (Outdoor Channel Monday 3:00 p.m.) because they do tire tests all the time. You Might also want to check out null and go to product reviews.

On a different note: Did nobody like any of the 5 ideas? BR>

Jimmy,

I have the 27" mudlites, they are a good tire for mud, but i ride most of the time in sand and hardpack. I would rather have gone with a set of 25" Maxxis Bighorn Radials . This is a nice all around tire . Might give them a look.

Brent

Posted by: JimsPolaris

Brent,
That Big Horn is a pretty good looking all around tire. It is a little pricey, but I think a radial is a better tire so it would probably be worth the extra cash. Thanks for the input! I am still trying to locate a replacement for the Carlisle Badland XTR that is on it. Hopefully someone has replaced their stock tires and has a spare somewhere. I bid on 2 on ebay but got beat at the last second, Damnit!!

Jimmy,Brent, and Jason, BUT not Big Tex...
What tires should I get for the Honda Rancher? ( NO wise cracks about how I will have to learn how to ride, before I can get good tires.) You guys know the type of riding we do. I want something that will keep up with Big Tex and Jason, But is still comfortable for Ginny when she is riding. I think the 26" Mudlites will do the trick, but I don't know anything about any of the other tires even after watching ATV TV. ( which by the way is one of Ginnys favorite shows when she sees it)

Jimmy
BTW we are glad you are up and about. You should come to Texas and ride on the Red River.

Posted by: JimsPolaris

Gordon,
I will be ready to ride in about 2 more weeks the Doc says. I am doing much better. Take a look at those Maxxis Big Horn Radials that Brent was talking about. They dont look quite as aggressive, but look like a great tire! They will probably be my next tire purchase.

Jimmy"I need a new tire" Monteith

Posted by: Brink74868

G,

I would do some shopping at some of the dealerships before buying. I like the Mud Lites for me, but I don't think Ginny would appreciate the ride (It's kind of tractor like) on hard packed ground and roads. You might want to try something somewhat less agressive. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't get 27" Mud Lites again. You are probably going to have to make a decision: Do you want to kick butt with the big boys, or do you want your lovely and sweet wife to have a comfortable ride? I submit you get a nice set of ATR's that have a little bigger bite, with the comfort of a non agressive tread pattern. Or, option 2, Buy a set of kickin' Mud Lites AND another set for you to bolt on when Ginny rides.

Jason "It's a lose lose" Brinker

Posted by: gsettle081

Jason
I was trying to do both. When we get the new Yamaha like yours and David's I wil put mudlites on that. Then Ginny can ride the Yamaha when she is along, and I can ride it when she stays home. I don't know anything about the other tires. You and David have mudlites and seem to ride better than our Honda. I do appreciate your advise.

Why are you not out protecting the fair citizens of Oklahoma????

Posted by: out18law18

on the subject of tires i think that for u a set of tri claws might meet ur needs or poss. mud bugs. u might try to go to www.highlifter.com and go to the forum undre tire talk and if u go back a ways i think every possible tire question has been asked and answered, but beware of skewed opinions aka. i bought a honda and everything else is crap LOL. good luck and get a mud tire, screw comfort!

heres an idea! how about just going down and meeting some people who own land along the river and asking permission? we could try being nice to them and maybe even cleaning up after ourselves. we could even treat their land with some respect and see if they'll let us in the next time we ask. its just an idea, but its always worked for me.

james, why is it that your ideas always seem to involve acquiring land and retricting access to others unless they are willing to pay?

Heywood,
My suggestion to aquire the land and charge a fee was an attempt to restrict/remove the "trouble-makers" so that you and other responsible ATVers would not lose your privilage to access the river across the railroad property.

James,

1. the RR's atitude is one of "dont rub it in our face and we'll act like we dont see you". if youre going to cross their property, you need to know and obey their rules. like dont wear red, and dont park red trucks along the tracks. red is their emergency/distress signal color and you can bring a train to a stop just by putting it in the wrong place. that screws with their schedules and pisses them off. stuff like that is good to know.

2. also, the RR's are never going to give up or forfeit their rights of way. even when we were running fiber optic routes along the tracks, we did all of our service and maintenance with their permission. the lowest RR crewman could put us out of our locations any time he wanted to, no questions asked. so they arent about to lease any property to anyone, and approaching them about it would probably force them to face the fact that we are there. see rule #1 above.

3. some of the "trouble-makers" that you refer to are my friends and neighbors. we live here, you dont. we have access to the river from several points because we have nutured relationships with the landowners through the years. we're allowed to hunt and fish and access the river because we treat them and their property with courtesy and respect. outsiders trying to restrict that access might just cause some hard feelings. i know i wouldnt take kindly to it.

-heywood-

Posted by: Jamesh921

Heywood,
Bob has pointed out in a previous post that my suggestion was probably not an option and that was that - end of story. I realized he was probably right (cause I know Bob's a pretty smart fella) and haven't mentioned it since.

If your friends and neighbors are "treating them (the landowners) and their property with courtesy and respect", I wouldn't say that they are trouble-makers.

Geez Dude - I just made a suggestion to some friends in an effort to help. If you don't agree with my suggestion, that's fine. But that's no reason to launch a personal attack on me - or anyone else for that matter.
I have no idea why you don't like me. I can't, for the life of me, remember ever doing anything that could be construed as unkindly to you. But hey - if that's the way you feel, so be it.

Hey guys , We all have opinions on ways to do things , lets not attack anyone with the mind to speak. We are here to ride and meet new people. If it comes the time for us to find a new way to access the river , we will all give suggestions.

On another note. Is anyone up for a Little Sahara ride Feburary 11th . This will be just a day ride. Anyone who is interested should e-mail me or give me a call .

By the way check out our new web page BR>

I thought you might like that. I chose that one for the same reason that I became interested in Mike's camera. The detail in the dust and everything, that is just a great picture overall. My kudos to Mike, Aaron and of course Fujifilm, Inc.

I will eventually add more pics as they come in

Nice webpage guys! Very impressive. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I changed jobs and mortally wounded my ride (and checkbook) in the same couple of weeks. Was riding at the river 3 weeks ago and my counter balancer exploded (Honda TRX250R). Should have her going in the next couple of weeks (Tax money and EBay luck!) Anyways, can't wait to get to the river and Little Sahara again!

I just checked out the Club's new website - WOW!! It looks GREAT!! I especially liked the pic of the guy on the boogie-board being pulled by the ATV on the South Canadian river. Whoever is responsible for designing the webpage did a fantastic job.

James

Yes the web page is GREAT... I don't know about Aaron being a star. That might make him hard to live with.

Bobman
I have some shots of the Little River, and Antlers. Do you want us to send them to you to post??? Granted they are not as good as Mike's shot, but we could post the pictures we all have. Mike and Bobman, you need to post the shot of all of us at Purcell the night of the drag races.

Again, the site is GREAT, and I am proud of the effort you guys did to improve our webpage.

On another note... Have you guys ever thought about us getting some T shirts with Central Oklahoma ATV Club. I would like one... especially in April when the Mud Nationals come to Texas. Some of the other forums are ordering them so we can all meet up. I would post one of their shirts if I knew how to upload it on this forum.

Brent,
If the weather is decent count me in. I think I feel the flu coming on already. I've been wondering what to do on my Birthday. Going to Little Sahara would be a great idea. I will have to take the V-Force because we are rebuilding the front end of the sand rail. We are going to A-Arm front end. Can't wait to jump the rail with the new suspension. I'm sure Ty would get the flu also. Come on pretty weather. Tomorrow is suppose to be great.

Mud Lites are very Agressive and will sling mud all over you. I will look around when I get a set of new tires. They are good for mud, but not is sand. I do not think there is a tire that will do everything. You will have to see what you want to do the most of like mud or whatever. As far as Gordon getting tires he needs to go though mud or water and stay out of the easy stuff. I am trying to teach him a few riding tips. It is hard teaching a old man how to ride.
