Ladies and Gentlemen.....
As some of you may be aware, the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ATV CLUB is nearing. I think this calls for some sort of celebration. Does anyone have any ideas as to what festivities might be desired.
So you guys let me know what you think

Bob,
I think that beer, food, quads, and naked women sounds in order. Naked women would be optional, of course, but the others are a given.BR>
Everyone else (Bob too),
I'm planning to ride Saturday at Prague Lake with some buddies of mine who are not yet members. This could be an oppertunity to dazzle them with a good turnout. We will probably go around noon-ish. If anyone wants to join in, "just bring it".
Jason "My wife read my post & I'm now grounded" BrinkMan

Is Jason bringing the naked women... or do we have to bring our own? I guess he could pull some gals out of the hoose gow, and bring them.
I do think we should get together and ride. Maybe try Meunster, and then go gamble at the casino at mile marker 1.

Gordon...are you talking about that Bingo Hall in Oklahoma right there on I-35 that calls itself a casino???
I am not one for the tribal gaming establishments...all they have are machines...no dice, no cards...no casino as far as I am concerned. I love the boats at Shreveport and KC and Tunica (Tunica is the best) when I have the funds (which has not been too often here of late).
I was thinking that in keeping with tradition we could have this blowout on the Friday night after thanksgiving as that was when the club was created.
Bob

Yes I was thinking of the bingo hall.... You guys don't have any REAL casinos. We don't either for that matter. I just want some place we can all gather and visit after our ride. WITHOUT HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE GROUND like you guys did in Cloudy.

Should we look for any members at Little Sahara this weekend or is it just to be Ronnie and I?

Bob,
I wish I could make it to a Friday Night shindig, but I have to work. If you loved me like I thought you did, you might suggest Prague Lake. There, everyone could ride. there are options for lodging, too. People could camp and there are several decent and a couple of NICE Hotels in the area (You're welcome G) as Seminole, Shawnee, and Stroud are within 25 minutes. Best of all, I could make it to the party and work at the same time. At Prague, there is cell phone coverage, RV hookups, primitave camping, restrooms, covered picnic areas, and built in police protection in case of any trouble from the Street Kings. It is also pretty close to the metro OKC area and closer for the members we hardly ever see in the Tulsa area. It will be a little farther for Gordon and Ginny, but I'm sure Missy will let them stay at the house while I work.
It sounds like a blast, but I will only be able to attend if it's held in Prague (no pressure or anything).BR>

Are you referring to the Friday after Thanksgiving?
J
Posted by: gsettle081
No I was referring to THIS weekend. The Friday after Thanksgiving is TOO far away. ( and besides this bunch will change its mind about riding, a location, and when we will meet before then.)
A guy my age can only work one week in advance.
Posted by: nukeim
I generally operate on about a two day advance. Any more than that, and I get confused.

I would like to try to go to Prague this weekend. Could someone give me directions on where the riding area is located at the lake? I am coming from OKC. This hinges on my quad getting fixed before this weekend. It is running badly and in the shop to be fixed under warranty. It was running fine until it got a muddy shower from Bobman. HA!HA! When I got home from Cloudy it would not hardly run at all.
Thanks,

Charlie,
We are on go. We have the paddles on and ready to load. Just have to get through today and until Noon tomorrow. If Matt's girlfriend wasn't working until 6:00pm tomorrow, I would leave at noon tomorrow. At least he has one that is not afraid of work.
Get ready to ride hard. This bunch is jumping up and down. Some of the guys from Fort Worth like to ride hard. They are usually trying to catch Matt.
We will be there until Sunday afternoon. See you there

I got my quad back from the shop. It was a problem with the carb. He said it was way out of adjustment and fouling the plugs. It is running good now. I should be able to go to Prague this weekend.

Posted: Tue Oct 05, 2004 8:41 pm Post subject: Local Tax Proposal On November Ballot That Will Affect You!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just attended a meeting hosted by the Waynoka Chamber of Commerce that was chaired by the Waynoka City Manager. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss and inform citizens of a proposal that is on the ballot Nov. 3rd. This will be a citywide vote that will propose a Hotel Tax within the city of Waynoka. This proposal will not only include hotels/motels it will also encompass RV sites and even tents. In effect, if this passes anyone who stays in a motel, rents an RV site or pitches a tent in an area that is subject to fees will be assessed a 7% tax.
If passed the managers of said sites will be directed to collect and remit the monies collected to the City of Waynoka monthly. Since the City of Waynoka has within the last two years “stripped annexed” the Little Sahara State Park, the State of Oklahoma will also be required to remit this tax to the City of Waynoka. The monies collected from this tax will be used by the City of Waynoka to promote Economic Development and Tourism.
It is not my intent to stir controversy over this issue. However, I do feel that I would be remiss in my role as “director of information for dune patrons” not to give you a heads up on this issue.
Personal Opinion
I could see some good things that could happen here, BUT I have a big problem with the terms “Economic Development and Tourism” If this money could ONLY be used to build bigger and better facilities for the patrons I would have no problem with it. However, many different people could interpret the terms Economic Development and Tourism in many different ways. Unfortunately, those who will not have to pay the tax will decide this issue.
I know there are some Waynokans who read these boards occasionally. I would like to invite opinions here. For those who would like to ask direct questions about this issue (respectfully please) you can do so by using the link below.

Guys....(and Gals)
The anniversary blowout I was talking about was not necessarily a riding event. I was just thinking we might get together and have some dinner & drinks etc. Something like that...We can have a riding event if you all want. I probably won't be able to make it anyway as I am possibly about to change jobs again and will once again be low man on the totem pole so I will get the schedule no one else wants. BUt that's another story.
So the more input the better as far as where/what you all want to do.

Kevlar anyone????
Hey guys I know where Keith and his family are camped. Think how much fun it would be to get some gorilla suits and storm the camp making Bigfoot noises. If we attempt this I suggest full Kevlar boady armor as he would most likely go to shooting...wait I have seen Keith shoot...Kevlar....we don't need no stinking kevlar!!!
And before Mike brings it up (as he is always so apt to point out the logic flaws in my theories) no I do not have any true knowledge of what "Bigfoot noises" might sound like. I am guessing just a big ape on steroids kind of noise.

I watched a show on Discovery (or one of those type of stations) about Bigfoot sightings in Push County. They said that Bigfoot smells like wild hogs and makes grunting noises. (Makes me wonder if the "sightings" were just a bunch of wild hogs)

Shawna,
You mean the people who produce/direct programs for The Discovery Channel had a spot about Push County? Wow that is surprising. I would never have thought Push County would be mentioned outside the state. Goes to show what a small world it really is. Just think folks in the former Soviet Union are saving up their Rubles (sp?) for a vacation to Push County.
I can just hear little Vladamir say, "Father I have learned of a land in America where the big hairy ape grows and runs wild through the forrest. We must go to this paradise called Klowdy." So little vlad and his father Ivan boarded a flight out of MinsK and then they changed planes in Amsterdam, then Greenland and made a direct connecting flight to Atoka, International Airport. From there they hitched a ride on a pulp wood truck into Antlers America. Ivan shed a tear as he saw he saw the smile on young Vlad's face.
Once lodgings had been secured in Antlers, Ivan scoured the vast Antlers' phone directory for "Vilderness Guide." He was in luck, there were exactly three and none of them were booked for the day. So with sheer joy and anticipation he called young vlad from the small room in the motel where the "swirling waters wash your face with refreshing aromatic bliss." The two stalwart men of fine Cossack lineage strode through the streets of Antlers until they found the office of Clem Huckstein, Vilderness guide extraordinaire.
Clem took their money, all $237.19, and said, with a bewildered smile on his gaunt face, "Yall git on off up ther' in ma pickup and I be along drectly'." Clem went to the local adventure guide outfitters, Jim Ray's Quiick Stop and laundry, and deli, and fuel station, and general mercantile and emporium, LLC. There Clem purchased chicken, Land Access Fee permits, chicken, three slimjims, skoal, chicken, and 2 more slim jims. He then proceeded back to the truck where his clients eagarly awaited.
Clem started the Propane Fired Excusrion Vehicle (Henceforth referred to as the PFEV) and shifted into low as the shifter seemed to slide right through drive, directly into low. Clem glanced over at his two arctic clients and said, "Yall sure do got purty mouths," as he made the turn heading north out of Rattan heading up the Cloudy Expressway. The PFEV made its way through the scenic countryside past the rodeo grounds and state of the art medical research facility (okay I made up the part about the rodeo grounds) and before long they had reached their turn out.
Clem slammed the PFEV into park, again sliding right through drive. He then looked over at his clients and said, "Yall best be a gittin on off the truck and gettin out in that thar' road ifn ya don't want me to be a throwin' yall out." The two Mad Men from Minsk (as they had once been billed on a father/son pro wrestling card in Philadelphia back in the 80's) looked at each other and in broken English said, "What are you be talking about Mr. Willis?" Clem looked befuddled and retorted, "I ain't no dang Todd Bridges and I was 'quitted of all them charges!" The small group then began their quest for the Giant Ape of the Kiamichis.
Vlad and Ivan followed the skilled woodsman (it even said so on his business cards) down the dimming path into the overgrown trees thick with ground cover and vines of all sorts. Yes indeed, this party of arborial explorers was fast on the trail of the Giant Ape of the Kiamichi's. With his flashlight in one hand and his Swiss Army Knife in the other, Vlad took small squatted steps as he tracked the elusive beast in true stealth like fashion. Then a ruffle of leaves and a swishing of pine boughs yielded the sight they had traversed the globe for. There, not ten feet in front of them stood the object of their inquiry, the focus of their fiasco, the product of their plight, the vanquished victim of their visionary voyage, the Great Ape of the Kiamichis himself.
Vlad quickly assumed a knife fighter's crouch, as he had been taught by the local crime lord back home, and in a timid voice shouted out, "A pox on thine village foul beast, now prepare to meet thine maker ye perpetuator of malodorous musk." The Great Ape of the Himalyas..I mean Kiamichis, was momentarily taken aback, Then with catlike reflexes (Still trying to figure our the logic in that statement aren't ya Mikey?) the Great Ape of the Kiamichis also assumed his knife fighter's crouch, as he had learned from the rumble scene in West Side Story, and the battle was on. Two great warriors dancing the macabre dance of death, knowing that only one would prevail to dance on the morrow. With skilled thrusts and forays, each combatant tautned the other while seeking the opening for a death knell. Then with no warning the Great Ape stopped dead in his tracks and extended his left arm in the air at a forty five degree angle and in broken Scooby Doo like animal English he muttered, "Rooky there..Red Barron, Red Barron." When Vlad, the easily guiled youth of the Ukraine, glanced skyward The Great Ape shoved his stick through young Vlad's spleen and retreated back into the forrest never to be heard from again.
Clem looked at the grief stricken Ivan and said, "Man, aint that the dang gonnest thang ya ebber sawed?" Clem then asked Ivan, "Seein' as how yer boy ain't a gonna be needin that flashlight no more, ya care ifn I go get it?" As Ivan sat on a log, Clem fired of the PFEV and headed back to Antlers, muttering, "I nebber did see no Red Barron".
Man it is a wonder what modern science and satellite technology can do. It united a simpleton from Minsk with a simpleton from Antlers and let nature play out its painful, passionate, promenade of perpetual preservation of the species. So ya see...Cable TV is good for something.

Bob,
I think the show was really more about Bigfoot than Push county. They did spend a good bit of the show around Antlers, but it mentioned other places as well. If I ever see it on again, I'll try to let you know. BTW, I was moved to tears by your story...I was really cheering for young Vlad and then...(blowing my nose)...oh why can't these kind of stories have happy endings?

Before you got to Antlers on Sunday, we rode pretty hard on Saturday. During that time we met three guys in a truck, two or three different times. They smelled to high heaven. Even Heywood thought they were rank. They were sort of lost, and kept asking for directions. It was sort of unsettling because we really did not know if they were hunters, drug dealers, or just out for a joy ride. Ask Heywood and Jason how THEY felt about the situation.

Jim,
From OKC, you can either take Highway 62 or I-40 to Prague Lake. Either way, the turnoff to Prague Lake is approximately 1 mile west of town. There is a large billboard like sign painted green that has an arrow pointing north that says Prague Lake. You go about 2 Miles north and another smaller sign on the right points you back east to the lake & trailhead, just less than 1 mile. We SHOULD be there around noon or so. Call me @ 584-0921 if you need some help finding us.
Bob,
You really are running out of $&!@ to do, aren't you? As Shawna said, it WAS a touching story that I will take with me for the rest of my days.
Shawna,
The guys in the pickup (a rather nice '00 or newer extended cab F-250) smelled as if they had rolled in something dead, fell into a sewer lagoon, forgotten to shower, ran a marathon in southern Florida, then camped out for a couple of weeks, then pooped themselves. Even Keith said that they had a bit of an OOH DEAR about them. I believe the quote was something like "them boys could gag a buzzard off of a $h!t wagon". They were a bit ripe. The last time they drove by at about 25 M.P.H. and we were 10-15 feet off the road, we could still swear a Bigfoot passed us.

We're hoping to have the trails open within the next 2-3 weeks, so mark your calenders - We plan on having a HUGE grand opening.

hey guys,
we just about lost one of our founding members last saturday morning. my bro-in-law rick was with us in camp last week and suffered a heart attack at about dawn. tom (also a founding member, and ricks brother) was able to get him to the hospital in antlers. from there he was shipped to paris, tx.
he pulled thru and is resting at home now, but it was close there for awhile. it just goes to show the importance of a well equipped first-aid kit (especially if youve abused your body like i have for the past 50 years). anyway, he'll recover but he may be thru riding for awhile. i just thought i'd let you know.

You better believe 3 wheelers are welcome. We don't care if you gots 5 wheels, 7 wheels or 2 noses - all riders are welcome on our trails and in our River. Bring all the wheels you got (or don't got) and have at it.
Bring your BBQ grills RVs and/or tents and stay as long as you like. Or, you can stay at one of the local Motels and day-ride.
If you have kids, Seminole touts one of the nations most interesting Children's Museums. The Jasmine Moran Children's Museum has documented visitors from every state in the Continental U.S.
I'm going to be there all weekend scoping out the property and making plans (gonna have to tape the Bedlam game). If anyone wants to drop by that's fine with me. You might wanna call or email me ahead of time though. Cell phone reception is spotty out there and if you're gonna stop by, I'll need to know so's I can leave the gate open for you. Even though I started out today looking for a different brand ATV, I ended up buying an Artic Cat 400.
I can't tell you why I went with this ATV - I hadn't even researched it. But I just felt a spiritual easiness about it. It just seemed like the right quad so I bought it.
So, I guess I'm now an official "ATV Junkie"

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Has anyone decided whether or not they want to have the meeting this Saturday? Do we want to try to get in one last ride as a group before the cold weather settles in? Do we want to try lake Murray? Sahara? Quartz Mountain? back to SE Oklahoma?
If we have the meeting do we want to meet on the river or at the restaurant?
Your input is valued.

You guys are welcome to hold a meeting at our place anytime you want. Unfortunately, we won't be ready for you by this weekend, but next month is a definate possibility.
I know it may be a few miles out of the way for alot of you guys, but I'm sure the lure of a "catered meal" would entice a drive from even Gordon and Ginny BR>
All BS aside, there is a building on our property that the CoacATVClub is more than welcome to use at no cost if'n you guys want to travel down/up/or over here. It's not fancy, but it'll keep the rain off your head. It's about a 30' X 50' building in size with a luxurious dirt floor and it is heated.
This would give us a chance to meet some of the other/new Club members we haven't had the opportunity of meeting yet, as well as, allow some of the Seminole members to meet some of the members that have just joined. Either way, I want the CoacATVClub members to know that you are welcome at this new Park with open arms.

Keith, sorry to hear about it...BR>
James, it's great to hear you have a quad, and are opening a place to ride...That's awesome!
Now, how about the brass pole? It can go in the building of which you spoke, and Bob can be first to try it out. I'll bring the camera.

Welcome to THIS forum. Send YOUR Dues to me. CASH only $100 for now. Small bills. Do not send your dues to the Sheriff, (Jason) or the deer killer ( Heywood), or Bobman. It will get lost before it can reach me.
Bobman and Mike (nukem) are both up close to OKC. I think Jimmy is also form there. Anyway just keep reading this stuff and you will figure our everybody is pretty full of hot air. ( except Big Tex and me)
David (bigTex) and I will probably ride Muenster on Sunday. We both have "honey dos" on Saturday. You guys should come down and ride with us. (By the way, Big Tex just got a NEW kodiak 450 to die for. He probably will the way he rides. This may make me get a new Kodiak instead of another Honda.)
James --How is your Artic Cat? Does it have full automatic and full 4 wheel drive? That is the other quad I am considering.

James,
The Brass poile seems to be a deal breaker. I will help break it in when you get it installed.
Gordon Hater,
Like they said, welcome aboard!! I will cut your dues in half if you send immediate payment to ME.
Gordon,
My traveling is probably cut short until warmer weather (you know women) as the beastly Avalanche gets about 10 gallons per mile pulling a trailer. YES, I am on a tight budget and an even tighter leash! Go ahead and get it out of your system..... Ha Ha!! Whipped, Hardy har har.
Keith,
Sorry to hear about your Brother, but I wish him a speedy recovery. It's not like you could hit the broad side of a deer anyway.
Andy & Brent,
I may have enough allowance to make it to Prague if I get MY honey do list done between sleeping and work this week.

Jeff,
Welcome to the board - and the Club. There are no dues to join the CoacATVClub, just a willingness to ride - and the ability to put up with our jovial spirits.
Gordon,
The Arctic Cat is GREAT!! I really like it. It is selective 2 or 4 wheel drive - just push a button and YOU select which drive you want to be in. It also has another feature I like. Most ATVs have a slip-differential tranny (the wheel with the least resistance spins). The AC has a feature that allows you to "lock it in" to full-time 4-wheel drive with the flip of a switch located on the handle bars.
Yea, its an automatic. I want to ride, not shift.
I wish this rain would stop so I could start working on the trails. I hate rain BR>

Tyler
Posted by: LittleRiverTrails
Hey Guys,
This is James on Dave's computer.
Tyler,
It's funny you should mention that - Dave (my business partner and brother-in-law) mentioned the same thing to me the other day. I'm SURE we could make a paintball course happen very soon (IF THIS STINKIN' RAIN WILL EVER STOP).
It didn't start raining here until mid-afternoon today. I was just about to load up the "CAT" and head out to the trails to start working when it came a turd floater. Since I dang near got stuck out there (in my truck) yesterday, I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to tempt fate. So, as I said earlier I HATE THE RAIN!!!!!
With that said, I need some help. We need a motorcycle to use to patrol the trails but we're trying to keep overhead down to a minimum. Do any of you guys know where I could pick up a older model, dependable off-road cycle for $500 or less? If so, you can post here or email me at harmony@okplus.com
It ain't gotta be pretty, it just needs to be dependable
Thanks for the help,
James

Dear James on Dave's Computer,
Why don't ya just use the AC to partol?? You could even get one of those helmets with a flashing red light on them that they used to sell at Radio Shack. You could be your own Rent-a-cop.NOw that we've solved that issue....how about that pole???
Bob "Ready for Amateur NIght at Little River Trails" Bobman

Dear James on Dave's computer
Why not hire Jason to patrol. He has his own 4 wheeler and GUN!! Heywood could be his backup.
I agree with Bob... Use your Cat to patrol or let us patrol on our machines. It could be like a GOLF MARSHALL. Free rides to the patrol leader. No Salary. You would get a lot of takers.
g
Posted by: Jamesh921
Back at home on my own computer now.
Gordon,
That "is" a pretty cool overview isn't it? Your right. We need one too - just so happens I gots one right here in my briefcase. Did you guys know that you can go to your local USDA office and get a color overview print-out of "any" property in their district for FREE? And in our case, the Seminole County Conservation District office shares the same building with the USDA and we get topography print-outs from them - also free. Pretty cool, huh?
Have you been to this Park yet and ridden the trails Gordon? If so, what'd you think? Pros? Cons?
Bob,
You're just not gonna let this brass pole thing go, are ya? Since Jason has volunteered to "break it in" when we get it installed (that's what he said in his earlier post), I'll put one in. What I want to know is how many dollar bills are you gonna stick in his G-string?
James
Posted by: medic52
Brent you can call me Ang if you like or Andy the magnificent I am hoping to be there this weekend and i am gonna call paul and lisa to see if they want to go hope to see yall there at 1:00
Posted by: Jamesh921
Good point Gordon. I wasn't too anxious to put a big red light on my head. Some people might get the wrong idea
We are planning on using the Cat to patrol with, but we want a bike as well. We need two vehicles anyway since we both may be on the trails patrolling at the same time.
It's funny you guys came up with the "volunteer policing" or "Golf Marshal" ideas. We planned on doing that very thing, using different people each weekend. This way we could keep them kind of "under cover".
As for problems on the trails, I've identified 3 areas of concern:
1) Littering - I TOTALLY DETEST littering, whether it's on my property or anyone elses. Anyone caught littering will NOT get a second chance. They'll be required to leave the Park immediately without discussion and be banned for life.
2) Staying on the trails - We are taking stringent steps to construct a trail system that will identify and utilize points of interest, giving the rider an awesome riding experience. Rogue trails will diminish this trail system by creating dead end trails and cut-offs. Cut-offs will shorten the trail and rob the rider of the full experience.
3) Staying in the Park - At each point where the river enters and exits the property there is no sure-fire way to keep rogue riders from venturing onto adjacent properties. Fencing would wash away or catch debris, which would also cause it to wash away. Spikes and/or poles would do the same, so each rider will be on the honor system. Signs will be posted, but that's about all we can do. And if the adjacent property owners begin to complain, that means problems for the whole Park.
With that said, I don't think there'll be too many unruly riders, but the few that venture outside the rules can make their disrespect a BIG problem for everyone else, and that leads me as to why we need a bike. If someone on an extremely fast sport-quad tries to run from the Arctic Cat, they'll probably run off and leave it. But a bike could track them down pretty quick.
Course, each person on patrol will have a 2-way radio to contact the trailhead, but I'd still like to be able to catch them if they run. If they get out of sight they can always claim, "It wasn't me, it musta been someone on a quad/bike that looks like me". If you catch them, they can't deny it.
Anyway, if you guys have any suggestions on how to minimize potential problems, I'm all ears.
James
Posted by: rxrider
Arm patrolmen with paintball guns. If anyone gets caught breaking the rules, they get "marked".
Shawna
Posted by: Jamesh921
he he Shawna,
I like the way you think
I believe we would call that the "Moron Rule". Everyone would know that if a rider got "marked", they had been a Moron on the trail. I like it BR>
James
Posted by: out18law18
a fat cat or big wheel would make and awesome patrol vehicle if u could find one.
Posted by: TyShark9
I got an idea ...everyone entering the park will have to put on a "special" dog collar. They go out-of-bounds and "Shock"... but the third time they break the rules ... "BOOM" ... that would keep them under control ... but we have to find a way to trick them into siging a waiver ... hmmmm
Tyler "my ideas are good only about 1% of the time" Haynie

James,
My idea of catching the unruly sport quads is in my garage. I can call a makeshift structure covered in a tarp what ever I want to call it. In my "garage" is the answer to all of the questions..... The Grizzly. Not just any old Grizzly, but one with a gun rack. If they somehow pull away, I could just blast 'em one. Besides that, If I patrolled, I couldn't be outran, for I have been practicing my wheelies and God Jumping.
As for the pole, We could be a husband/wife act. WE MUST HAVE A HIGH QUALITY BRASS POLE.

Man you guys got busy last night writing!!!
OK James here are some answers to your patrol problem, unwelcome guests, rouges, etc.
COME TO MUENSTER!! See how Mrs Harris handles all that.
FIRST--Everyone gets a sticker when they come in. These are placed on the windshield of your vehicle. NO Sticker, No get to stay. ( Lake Murray uses wrist bands)
SECOND--liter. She places a BIG trailer at the gate going out. Everyone dumps there trash as they go out. Litering is grounds for permanent banishment
Third--patrols.-- She uses a jeep, or US. If someone complains about a rider or group, they are banished.
FOURTH-rouge riders entering at the river. Where did they unload? No sticker--no stay! She also has a wire fence strung across the River. It is up off the ground. Debris does not gather, but it keeps people form entering or LEAVING and riding on someone else's land without permission.
FIFTH--Staying on the trails. Not sure how she keeps people from making new trails, But I will ask her.
SIXTH--fencing. Mrs Harris does have a fence around the permiter of her property. Doesn't the land owner have one now. How does he know the edge of his property. Mrs Harris has some gates that lead to the other land owners proerty. Not sure if she cut a deal with them for us to ride, but I will ask.
Also Brink has a good idea UNLESS the rouges go in the water!! Then they would get away.
G
Posted by: nukeim
Yeah...If you're taking money, or making people sign waivers. Get their quad make/model AND their vehicle tag everytime they ride. That way you don't have to catch them...Just remember what they were riding until you can get back to the parking area, and blackball their truck.
As for the patrol rig, I would suggest a dual sport, or "enduro" type bike. Some of them have pretty good storage options for things like a radio, towstrap, gas bottle, or a hand grenade. Plus some of them are actually street legal, and you could ride it there from your house.
Just my .02
Oh, and Jason....We don't talk about our god jumping in an open forum...Only in that **other** forum that requires the green decoder ring.....I've already said too much.

Hi Folks,
As most of you know, we have secured the land for the Little River Trails and Recreational Park in Seminole, Ok and we are starting construction.
We're planning work days for the trails next Saturday and Sunday Nov 6th & 7th (and every weekend thereafter until the trails are ready to open) and we're going to need all the help we can get in order to get the trails open within a month.
We'll mostly be marking trails and cutting brush, so if you have a chainsaw and want to help out, please bring it. If you don't have a chainsaw, that's OK too. There's plenty of other stuff to do or you are more than welcome to come and just hang out, see the property or just enjoy a relaxing weekend.
Also, if any of you guys have any experience in bridge construction (or know someone who does), your help is urgently needed.
Little River runs through the trail system. It enters at the northwest corner and exits near the southeast corner of the property. When the river gets up, like it is now, the southern 2/3rds of the property becomes inaccessible. Constructing 2 bridges (or some type of floatation crossing) for bikes and quads is a major necessity. We foresee this as being our biggest challenge, so if anyone has any great ideas or experience with this sort of concern, fire away.
If you would like to bring your RV or tent and stay the night, that's fine with us. However, until we have the road re-worked, I don't think it would be wise to try to bring your RV onto the property (we'll let you make that call). BUT, if you'll let me know you're bringing an RV ahead of time, I'm sure we can make other arrangements to find you a place to park. And, if necessary, we'll truck you and your bike/quad onto the property.
Plus, we'll feed you lunch and dinner while you're here.
Please RSVP by friday Nov 5th so we'll know how much food to provide. You can email me at harmony@okplus.com or call me at 405-245-3553.
Thanks for all your support,

Keith
As far as riding this weekend, David and are are going to Muenster on Sunday. I think Jason and some of the guys are going to Prague ( where ever that is) Are you going back to Antlers? If you are I need some scouting done. Go north on 271 and tell me what the mountains are like about 15 miles from Antlers. I found out I have a customer that has a 30,000 acre deer lease north of Antlers that we can ride on.

maybe it was all a dream.

Instead, I'm going to hook up with the other members of CoacATVClub and go to Prague. And I'd like to bring my partner on the trail system with me, but we only have one quad. Does anyone have an extra one we could borrow so we could both ride tomorrow? We'd sure appreciate a loaner.

I will get you stuck for sure. If not then I will pay you a 25.00 dollars.

YOU would have been proud of David. He sank twice. Once on purpose and once because it was there. He is getting good at pulling people out. WE had a great ride. Some pretty heavy rains, then sunshine. The rain was just enough to cool things off and settle the dust. We rode with two guys and one of their sons and one of his buddies. The kids are into racing quads. If any of you are interested the web site is: atvccs I think their next ride is November 14th. They meet up on Friday night, ride all day Saturday and then watch the kids race on Sunday. I think the whole family can participate.
James you should have stuff like that once you get going. It is a LOT more fun to ride with a group. The six of us today had a pretty good time. Of course they had to wait on me a lot, But I'm old and just learning. I am stiff as a board.

Gordon,
I'm REALLY looking forward to riding Muenster soon, but it'll have to be on a weekday. My weekends will be tied up with constructing our own trails and then operating them. That place sounds like a great place to ride. David's post reminded me just how much I'm glad I purchased a winch (the kind that goes on your ATV, not the brass pole type of winch).
I like the way the guys that I rode with today operate - they ride for a mile or so, stop and drink some beer, then ride for another mile and repeat.
I'm just kidding, of course. But they did drink some beer - but no one offered me one. Guess the figured a rookie rider like me didn't NEED a beer. They wanted me sober, in sight, but not too dang close. BR>
And Gordon, as far as you being old and "stiff as a board", count that as a "blessing" at your age (chuckle, chuckle)
Jason,
First of all, thanks for offering your quad. That was pretty dang nice and I/we appreciate it. But, it's probably a good thing that your wife threw you a party today and you had to stay home. Why? Because there was water EVERYWHERE today, and even though we would NEVER let you drown, it's very possible that you would have taken in large amounts of red mud flavored H2O. Paul and Andy did, but I think their lungs (and quads) are equipped with aquatic filtration systems. BR>
OK, I'm thru being a smart elec ------- for now. The only thing I would have liked to do more of today was to spend more time getting to know the folks I rode with. Not getting to hang with them longer was my only dissappointment. Otherwise, it was a GREAT ride.

I figured this morning would have a lot of posts about your adventures in Prague...How was it?
Did any one hear from Charlie and where he was going for a month?
Jason.. How was the party. Had we known it was your birthday, we would have sent your new underwater mask that has fish swimming inside the goggles.

Gordon,
We spend the winter at Lake a Havasu, AZ. It takes two trips to get a motorhome, a trailer, a pickup, a Grand Cherokee, a motorcycle and 4 quads to the desert. We wanted to wait until the vote tomorrow to go. We are taking one trip out now. Instead of just a quick trip, we are staying a month. We will go out again after Christmas.
If you and Ginny have any vacation time this winter, it is a great place to ride or just hangout. Warm weather and great scenery.

Yea Bob you missed a great ride . It was a little muddy but not bad . We had a good time.
James, Sorry i didnt offer you a beer. I told you in a few posts back " dont forget your beer" .

That's cool. you just need to find some other people to help take everything out there. How long will you take to get out there? We may come see you around Christmas. Ginny's brother lives in Phoenix. We go out quite a bit, depending on my work schedule.
Gordon

Gordon,
We spend 2 easy driving days. It is only 1100 miles to lake havasu. We will be home for Christmas and then go west. We will be there on the 29th of Dec. If you are in phoenix, it is about another 3 hours to havasu. I will have an extra quad. Give me a call if your there.

Send pictures back!! Also PM me your cell phone so we can call when we go out. I think we may spend News Years out there. Kind of depends on who will play in the Fiesta Bowl. We have seen Ohio State play there the last two years. Don't think they will make it this year.

Gordon,
You have 1:10 to send those goggles. It threw me off when I woke up & was told about it, because today is the special 31st anniversary of my hatching. I have to work the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but appreciate the invite nonetheless. As for the Prague bunch, If I knew you guys would actually ride in that crap, I would have snuck away early & met up.. Mud is better than sand by long stretches!!!!!
Until next time,

You are NOT OLD yet! I have a cowboy hat that is 11 years older than you. I will keep the goggles until we see you. That way I know they will not be lost in the mail. What did Missy get you for your birthday?? Were you expecting the party? MY 50th was a COMPLETE surpprise. Lots of fun and lots of wise cracks and gag gifts.

From What I understand...Hahaha
From what I undertand Brent Rhinehart is the individual that is primarilly responsible for the diminished size of the Draper Riding Area.
Yesterday for the first time in my life I crossed party lines to vote against him. He still won his race for County Commissioner. Now he has even more power to award contracts to the architectural and landscaping firms who will bid on the golf course he has worked so hard to implement. No doubt he will earmark county funds to be allocated to OKC so that he can bring his dream to fruition.

yeah, we'd have been so much better of with kennedy jr at the helm.
this is a guy that was so ashamed of his service in nam cause he saw the guys serving with him commit one atrocity after another.
30 years later tho, he's proud of that same service. and being an officer, shouldnt he have been doing somethiing to stop those war crimes? which is it? was he just a coward or is he simply lying?
andy, what branch of the service were you in?
im glad so many people turned out to vote yesterday, and thank god that the election turned out so well.

There's nothing like an election to bring everyone together!! At the risk of upsetting anyone, I have to say that at least Kerry showed up at the war. Nothing against W, but I don't think I can stand to see the defecit (4 years ago it was a surplus) go up any higher or the price of gasoline (everything in our economy is dependant on fuel prices). I really, REALLY don't want to stir up a debate or animosity, but had to say that. I will agree that Kerry is no commander in chief.

jason,
at the risk of starting an argument, the "surplus" never existed. it was all built around proposals and ideas ... there never was any real folding money involved. in fact, the economy was already sliding into a serious decline when W took office. that was exaggerated by 9-11, and only an idiot would hold anyone but osama and clinton responsible for that. and the economy is rebounding now. you can relax. there wont be any reckless tax and spend for at least 4 more years.
as far as kerry "showing up" for the war .. he did far more harm than good. in reality, he 'showed up' for the other side. he and jane fonda are equally to blame for the loss of a great many american lives. maybe next time we'll get a chance to vote for a real american hero ... oh wait ... ho chi minh is already dead.

Jason,
I agree that the deficit is out of control. I truly believe that if our nation had not been attacked, things would have been different. I have friends, that for twelve months after the attack, their sales were down at least 50%. We then had the recession that started in the previous administration. Then the Enron mess that a lot of people lost their life savings. This last summer/fall the hurricanes in the gulf damaged refineries.
The President cant spend any money. The House of Reps. does that.
I dont know why anyone would run for president again after all that happened.
The senate got rid of Tom Daschel. He blocked everything that the President tried to get through.
We have a good chance of things getting better, Lets keep our fingers crossed.
The President needs all of our prayers and support for sure.

Never talk politics with friends, unless you're trying to get rid of them. With that in mind, I'll change the subject.
If you guys want to ride this weekend, you're more than welcome to come to Seminole. We're going to mark the trails tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday (which are suppose to be extremely sunny skies) we'll be constructing them. No hard labor involved, mostly just pruning and maybe a little cutting with the chainsaw. After that, we can ride, ride, ride.
Everyone is welcome to come, just let me know in advance so I'll know how much food to provide. BR>

Well I spent the day marking trails at the Little River Trails and Recreational Park with the help of Duane Hill, VP of the Oklahoma Cross Country Racing Association.
Duane was a tremendous help, and just happens to be a heck of a great guy. We had a blast trapsing through the heavily wooded acres that border the shores of Little River.
We spent 6 hours laying out a trail system that is challenging AND fun to ride. As you guys already know, we're going back on Saturday and Sunday. If anyone wants to come ride, let me know. We've got 2 volunteers so far, but we need many more to ride the trails to get them really broke in. And, if you have a pair of pruning shears, that would help alot also.
If nothing else, it's going to be a heck of alot of fun riding this virtually virgin territory.

Just sent you a PM. We might be able to make it. Just depends on how many show pigs I get bought today and tonight.
Would Ty be able to get around on his KFX400. We are short one quad for a while. Matt broke 2nd gear on his Raptor while we wre at Little Sahara on fall break. I'm so glad we bought that extended warranty 2yrs and 11 months ago. We have one month left on the ext warranty. Sehorn's now have it for repairs. You have to love it when they tell you, yes it is still under warranty and let us upgrade the tranny whille we are there. No Cost!!!

Ronnie,
Yes Ty's 400 will make it fine. Where i plan to meet the people who have not been there here is a good meeting spot.
Ronnie take 177 north to 62. Turn east to Meeker. At the stop sign at meeker there is a store on the corner. We will meet everyone there at about 11:45
Jimmy use I-40 east to exit 186 in shawnee You will be at HWY 18 turn left north to meeker you will go through 3 or 4 stoplights keep going north till you get into Meeker . At the stop sign there is a store on you right . We will meet there at 11:45 I will still give you a call to make sure you get this

This weekend was an absolute blast.
On Saturday
Kenny Aker, (hope I spelled that right)
Joe Austin and
Rusty H. (I "specifically" asked him for his last name and STILL forgot it - sorry Rusty)
drove all the way from Moore, Ok to Seminole to help out with the Little River Trails ORV Park.
And Billy West from Seminole brought his chain saw (which was an absolute blessing) and joined in on clearing and pruning the trails.
I want ALL these guys to know that their help is GREATLY appreciated. Their help brought us TREMENDOUSLY closer to opening our ORV Park sooner than we expected - and we had a GREAT time. We'd prune the trails for awhile and then we'd ride for awhile. Then, we'd prune some more and then ride some more. And in the midst of all this riding/work/fun, my precious wife cooked us lunch on the barbie. We had more fun than a 3-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. BR>
BTW, Kenny seems to be the "rebel" of the bunch - and every time he opened his mouth it made me laugh.
Joe seems to be the most "sensible" and kept me thinking the whole day (which is GOOD).
Rusty is really quiet, but when he speaks, he's really interesting and funny.
Billy is a real "down-to-earth" guy whom I really respect. He offered some really great ideas AND he brought a chainsaw.
In short, Kenny threated to beat up an 80+ year old man, I said I would back him up if he started losing, Joe said he would analize the situation and Rusty put his money on the old man. Does that sound like a good day or what? :0) Plus, we got to ride for about 6 hours.
As for the terrain, we got the opportunity to ride thru a little mud (due to the recent rains), ride thru a watery marsh (which Kenny LOVED), hit some DRY wooded trails that were challenging yet easy, and finally look at a river that we are anxious to cross. Once the river does down (which should be in a couple of days), we'll have a whole new adventure, and challenge, to explore.
This was a really fun weekend for me because I had the opportunity to meet and ride with some folks that truely love to ride. I'm thankful that I got to meet Kenny, Joe and Rusty in person. And I'm thankful that I got the opportunity to hang out with Billy. All four of these guys deserve a BIG applause for helping out this weekend. I appreciate every one of them.
James (looking to open sooner than we expected) Hale

""James, Do you have a plan for your bridge yet ?""
Maybe - we're looking at possibly using a junked out 80 ft trailer house as a "drive thru" bridge. All we gotta do now is figure out how to get it across the river.
""Are all your trails just going to be cut, or are you going to doze some area's for hills ?""
Both. Most of the trails will be cut, but we're going to build a kind of "play area" with a dozer.
