I'll be there June 17-23rd for Roostfest '06
Posted by: Bluegoose
Okay you guys that go to Idaho, convinvce me that I should drive all that way from Oklahoma. I have been told that I should go. We have 4 wheelers and a 2 seat long travel rail. What about electric and such?
any info would be appreciated. When to go and when not to go. We usually got to Little Sahara in Oklahoma.
Thanks,
Ronnie
Posted by: Bluegoose
Tell me more. Is there a website? Sounds like a great place to ride. It's 8 degrees here and I need some sand time bad. I don't know how some of you guys live up north. I live in southern Oklahoma and we don't usually have this cold temps.
thanks guys sounds like we will take a trip either this summer or next. need to do some planning.

We're heading up the weekend of June 10th for 3-4 days..
Posted by: Sandgod
Sa's is 5000 ft above sea level..
Posted by: Sandgod
We are going June 8-11th.. Can't Wait!!!
Posted by: Sandgod
I do.. We'll be getting there thursday around 1-2pm.. BLM overnight parking on the left side in a triple wide since we have others coming and can share the spot..
Posted by: Sandgod
We went last year in mid Aug. Low 80's.. We just went last week also.. 73 for a high.. July is to hot even for SA's IMO...
Posted by: Sandgod
I was there two weeks ago.. The wind seems to blow at some time everyday. This can be bad, but also good, as it smooths everything out.. The best rides always seem to be the first one in the mornings..
Posted by: Sandgod
We're going the 10 days before Fathers Day. I say this becasue we only stay for three days and it's hard to get a camping spot the few days before Fathers Day and be able to park w/ friends.
Posted by: Sandgod
Saint Anthonys is worth any distance.. It is simply paradise.. Rails can take full advantage of the monster dunes and bowls.. I like the first two weeks in June, 70-75 perfect degrees.. July gets to 90 and that's no fun in my book.. If I stop out in the dunes take a break and sweat my arse off, it's tooo hot.. 9 miles of jaw dropping monster sized dunes and about 7 miles of smaller to medium sized stuff.

We will be there June 19th-25th. It will be the 5th? year in a row! IMO, it is the BEST place to ride!! Awesome dunes!!

Sounds like there will be quite a few people at St. A's during the same week my friend and I will be there. Take a look at my pics page to see what my ride looks like (white 04 YFZ with chromed extended Tucker swingarm)
Also, we'll be at Sand Hills again, 18th - 24th camping out in a big old style Army tent. We'll probably be driving my friends purple toyota 4 X 4.
He'll be riding a red and white 87' 250R
If any of you guys see us, stop by and give us a hollar!

I will be there the June 18th- 24th staying at Sand Hills. )I'll have my 04 Black DS650 and orange KFX700 (wifes). My buddy next to me will have hos 04 DS650 viper and a green KFX700. This will be my first trip out that way and we've been looking forward to it for a while. Please don't hesitate to stop by and grab something cool to drink and BS a little.
MRDS650, I would like to see your 730 run. I've been REALLY wanting to go with that kit and them Kentucky boys (HPR) seem to have the goods. Don't tell my wife how much everything is going to cost me....she'll find out in due time!!
2fun, would like to hook up over there for a ride or two. The wife's don't ride all that much so I could be riding solo alot.
We'd be glad to have you along! Stop on by, we will more than likely be close to the playground (tent camping area). I'd love to hook up for a group ride!

There plan each day is to head out into the dunes, stop at the oasis to pick us up and then head out together.
If you guys have not been there I don't mind showing everybody around. This will be my 6th trip to St. A's.
Bajaxpimpn - We will have to make sure that we run a few hills together, so you can see what the 730 does. I just put it together last night, so I am ridding every night now to break it in for the trip.
Can't wait 9 days to go
Stop by our camp-site. Leave a note if we are not there. This will be my 5th or 6th time there!! I absolutely LOVE it over there at St. A's!!

At least we were able to talk and put faces with the the names, it was nice meeting you. I will let you know if we make it out to florence. Our other neighbors at the campground, Darin and his wife and son, thank you for the ride in your sand rail. You dont find rides like that at amusement parks. It is nice to know that there are people out there that all have the same great time that we had.
Yes, I agree! It was nice to finally put a face to the name! Wish you could've stayed another day. Perhaps next year we can hook up??
We had an awesome time there also! As always, we met some of the nicest people you could imagine! And guess who we wound up camping next to......??? MR DS 650 himself!! BR>
He and all of his Canadian friends were great to hang out and ride with!! What a great bunch of people! Sorry you had to cut your trip short Kurt (Curt?). BR>How about that girl on the CR 230 dirtbike out there on the dunes!!!! WOW!!! She could ride that thing out there in the sand a heck of a lot better than I ever could!! My hat is definately off to her!! BR>
Hope to hook up with you all again, especially if you decide to make it to the Oregon dunes!
Also, MR "pimpin" DS 650, (Scott), you were a real kick to ride with! It was great to meet you bro! Perhaps SOMEDAY I will come close to jumping 1/8 the distance on my YFZ that you are able to do on your DS!!!! WOW!!! This man is CRAZY!!!
Again, an absolutely AWESOME St. Anthony trip!!!

Vacation is pretty tight where I work, and all of the summer months are already taken up!!! BR>
I will see what I can do though........

I was wondering what the weather is like later in the year???
If I can't make it this year in mid to late June like I have for the last 5 years, when would the weather and temps be similar??? Sept?? Oct???
It is usually in the upper 70's to lower 80's when we are there in mid June. I would imagine it is too hot in July and August???
Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!

Wow!! Thats good to know!!

I will know more as the time get closer, but right now, I'm looking at the last week in June if all goes as planned!
I'll let you all know for sure as soon as I find out.
Whats cool is that now I have an enclosed trailer to haul the ATVs and gear!

Just an update. Looks like we will be there from July 9th through July 15th.
Hopefully it will not be too hot during that time frame. I was looking at past history over the last 4 years and it looks like upper temps in the upper 80's to lower 90's.
Guess maybe we'll be getting up a bit earlier to ride if thats the case!! LOL!

Oh yeah, does anybody have a link to the other camping areas (NOT Sand Hills resort)??
I want to check out what the ammenities are at the other areas, and what the prices are. Seems Sand Hills get more and more expensive every danged year!

I believe that St. A's is about 3500 feet above sea level.
Someone correct me if i am wrong please !!!

Hey: Guys
For anybody staying at Sandhills you are more then welcome to leave some extra gas at our site at the Desert Oasis. The Oasis is about a half way point from the big stuff too the resort.
We will have a 32 foot 5th wheel - pulled by an 2003 Chev Duramax and i will be Driving my company truck - a 2003 Chev 2500. the Truck is all dressed up - 20" rims and Fountain Tire Decels all over it . Should be easy to spot.
In the Dunes I will be ridding my 2000 DS730 - now. My bike is yellow and has the Alba flame kit as well I have a 10 foot flag pole with a big Canadain flag on it.
I will be the one at Choke Cherry eating all the little 450's for lunch - LOL
See you guys there
Posted by: MRDS650
I hope so too Crapo85
I have never run my bike there since I installed the 730 HPR kit. Maybe you can make me eat my words. I will dye trying to beat everybody up the hill.
Can't wait too meet everybody and have a few cold ones (after I am done ridding).

4 more days to go. I think my bike is ready, just for everything else. Holidays are more work then work sometimes !!!

Update:
2 of the guys that I was coming with backed out - Family reasons so I am ok with it. Since I do not have a trailer to stay in now I booked a tenting space at sandhills.
I am leaveing Friday morning and plan to be there on Saturday afternoon.
I am still going to be driving my company truck - 2003 GMC 2500 dark blue with Yellow lettering (Fountain Tire).
See some of you in a few days !!!
Posted by: MRDS650
Good Evening everybody
Thank You for the concern, Everything will be back to normal in a few more days. Having to cut the trip short was disapointing, but when work calls it has to be done - after all I would not be able to go on holidays or have any toys with out my job.
I had hoped to get a few more days of ridding in with you guys (2fun, Scott and Bajapimpn). The ride on Tuesady out to the end and back was one of the best rides I have ever been on. I love going threw the big bowls and carving all the way out to Choke.
The best part of the trip was seeing Bajapimpn get the respect from the guys ridding dirtbikes for pulling off the biggest jump I have ever seen on a quad. Who new a DS650 could fly like that. - Don't worry Scott we still won't tell you wife !!!
My New HPR730 motor ran great all week. Spent $70.00 at the dyno on Monday and found an extra 10HP by properly jetting. The back cut tranny gears were also great. You don't know what it is like to ride for 4 days and never miss a shift !!!
I did win a few races when I was there, But hats off to Scott(2fun) for putting up with all my talk before getting there. As you can guess he still beat me on his 450YFZ. I think I held my own against him, he always beat me but I was not back more then a bike lenght.
You have to admit the Yellow School Bus can move. But you did beat me 2fun. - You have no idea how much it hurts to say that Scott, but I said I would tell it like it was.
It was great to meet everybody and get to ride with you'all. (does that sound American enough for you).
Since I had to cut the holiday short I have started to plan the next adventure. Started planning it on the way home (17 hours of driving will do that).
We are planning to be in Oregon in August. I should be there by the 12th and will be staying until the 17th. It would be great to hook up with you guys for a few days. I can't wait to try some of those tree schuts you told me about.
Thanks for a great time

I Agree !!!
I hear you you on that Speedrive1. I was dreaming about the Dunes in St. A's today as I was shovelling snow yet again. I even fired up the DS today to make sure it still ran - Tried to go for a spin - but did not make it far in the 3 feet of snow in front of the shed.
Waiting for Spring !!!
When is everybody planning on hitting St. A's this year ???
I was thinking the first week - from the 1st too the 9th for our gang.
Posted by: MRDS650
Not sure if anybody has there summer holiday planned yet.
I just booked my reservations for Sandhills. We will be there from June 2nd - 9th. It would be great to hook up with a few people for a ride.

The weather in the fall is nice as well. We usually do one more quick trip down in September for a few days. The weather is usually nice during the days and cools down a fair bit at night. If you are tenting in the fall bring a heater. The days are shorter too, if I remember it gets dark around 7 or 8 pm.
Too bad you can't make it out this June.
BlueGoose
You have to come and try St. A's the dunes are the best in the US - my 2 cents
Hugh bowls that I am sure you will be able to keep those rails wound out and hills that will give you second thoughts. I try to make 2 trips a year and its an 18 hour drive for me - but worth it everytime.
There are 3 campgrounds at St. A's.
Sandhills - The best one - all the sports are grass and the campground is very well taken care of, although it is the furthest form the big dunes - about a 45 minute cruise. They have full hooks ups - power, water, sewer.
Desert Oasis - My second choice - place almost in the center of the dunes. - No grass all dirt, so it can be dusty in the campground. I belive they have full hookups and are a bit cheaper as well.
The BLM - 3rd choice - closest to the big dunes - all gravel spots - not sure if they have power/water/sewer.

All I can say is, "WOW"! I don't know if the Oregon dunes can be all that fun anymore. I loved that place, but the heat was up there.
I split the 2 bushes on the right face of Choke on a paddled and stock 700R. That was a goodd climb.
Posted by: TractorPacker
I didn't meet anyone from there. I did fet an airial map of the place and covered most of the main area. One day we crossed the red road and did some riding there, also.
September would probably be a good time to go. It was 85 plus almost the whole time we were there. It was too hot to ride, but to far of a drive not too.

Headed there in a few weeks. . . July 8-14.
EATING. . .
We'll be eating at camp for the most part but, any good places to take in while we are there?
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Anything you guys would definitely suggest for a bunch of visitor's from CA? Went to Jellystone last year so, just looking to take in some sights.
ATV SHOPS:
What's the name (and number if you have it) for the local Yamaha shop in town. If I remember right, they had a few othr brands. Nice shop. If the Wife's bike doesn't run well she'll probably have me getting her a new quad.
Posted by: DuneMe
I've only been there once. Will the dunes be clean typically mid-week as you way your way to the back? We'll be there July 8-14 and last year it was beat up right out of Egin Lakes but, once you go in a little further you get to the nice dunes that appeared un-touched. Just wondering if it is always like that.
Other than that. . . what about good food in town? There's got to be some special places???

Just a warning, Sand hills started taking reservations in Dec. last year so they are pretty much booked all summer. We will be there third week of June. Gonna try out Desert Oasis. I still say the highway from thunder out to the big dunes is the best ride anywhere. Highbanking back and forth as fast as you can push it, AWESOME!!
Posted by: Hossblur
Heading to Desert Oasis June 22, out in the field(non hookup area) 4-5 trailers, 4 250R, 3 banshees, 2 raptors(mine has budlight stickers) 2 250 suzukis, couple of blasters, ATK 250 dirt bike, 500cr dirt bike. TOday was long, tommorow will be longer, Wed. will be unbearable, can't wait to get there. Ride out to the drag strip in the evening for some good flat drags.
Crapo, or anyone else, where do we get 110 octane up there?
Posted by: Hossblur
Was there Thurs. 22 through Sunday, stayed at Desert Oasis. Friday the sand was great, I was glad to see that Deadhorse lost that hollowed out side over the winter. As usual the ride out to CHoke is the best around. By Friday night the ride from Desert Oasis to Thunder was HORRIBLE, rails are hard on sand, but I ain't hating, only coveting. Desert Oasis (non hookup, on the hill) was nice, BUTTTTTT, Saturday night and well into Sunday morning we got to hear some Wyoming A-holes blare tunes and yell all night. Why is it that with all the people that were staying there, and everyone getting along and respecting each other, there always seems to be one group who has to act like clowns, the good thing is Sunday Morning Mr. Loudclown spent the morning hurling into a fire barrel. By the way, thanks to the guys who gave us the map!

Posted by: BAJAXPIMPN
Okay, I want to leave today...I mean RIGHT NOW!! Not sure what site number we're in right now, but I'll be in my 33' Tahoe Trasport with the big "THOR" sticker across the drop down door being pulled by a Silver F350 Crew Cab.
2fun amd MRDS650, can't wait to sattle up for a ride. BTW, do you guys carry extra fuel with you on the rides? The guy I'm going with said it might be a good idea since we're camped at one end of the dunes and will be riding alot to the other side. I can imagine that it depends mostly on your riding style also. Just your thoughts on that would be great. Really looking forward to seeing your 730. :-)
donell, look us up when you get there. We can get in a couple rides before we leave on Saturday afternoon.
Crapo85, I be on the look out for you Honda. It looks good!! BTW, is that you on that Honda dirt bike in those weshots community pics. Wholy Schnikes!!

Thanks for the offer MRDS650. That would make the trips out to Choke and back a lot less stressfull. How's the 730 running now that it's together? Got some break in time on it yet? I'm leaving Thursday afternoon and taking my time getting there. I will be in Sand Hills in space 109 or 108 by early Sunday afternoon. Man do I know what you mean there. I've been putting in 9hrs here at the office and then go home and continue loading, packing and organizing. Glad your bike is ready. I've been having fits with the wifes KFX700. It was popping just off idle and slow throttle so I took it in and had the carbs cleaned and gone through because I don't have the time. I hope that's the problem and it's done and ready today. The owners made sure of that. If you made noise after ten he was there on the golf cart to shut you down. 2 fun, I wish we could have had a chance to ride together, but we had to be going just as you guys got there.
Anthony trip!!! hr>
Well I don't know where to start except to say that I've already made plans for next year!!! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
I had the best time at St Anthony's. I've never been on rides like that here in Oregon. These dunes are huge and these gigantic rollercoaster type bowls are just way too fun! You can transition from one bowl into the other all day long and ride as hard or as easy as you want to. I kept the rubber side down the whole week witch is quiet an accomplishment for me. BR>
I've met some of the best people over there. I had such a great ride with MRDS650 and the gang from Canada. I also got to ride the 730 of MRDS650 up Thunder and was AWESOME. It pulls very hard!! Thanks MRDS650 (Kurt) and I hope that everything is okay (or as good as than can be) for you people back home. Tell the rest of the gang up there that I said thanks for the rides and I hope to see you in Oregon or St. Anthony's next year....Eh!! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
2fun (Jeff), you and Scott were a kick to hang and ride with. Thanks for getting me out of my wifes hair.... ha ha! We're going to have to hook up and ride in Florence and/or Winchester Bay. Thanks for showing me around the dunes over there and the some little tricks on side hilling. You guy's were writing your names across Choke Cherry and Devils Dune. img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> Amazing!! I will keep practicing. Your stock YFZ runs very strong with just the free cam, pipe and a filter.... I was very impressed as you pulled 3rd up Choke Cherry!!! BTW - I keep telling you that when I jumped the throttle was stuck!! BR>
Awsome trip and the best place I've ever riden. The people I've met helped make it that way. Thanks to all.

MRDS650 (Kurt), Good to hear that things will return to back to normal. Sorry that you had to cut your trip short but it was very understandable!! It also good that you and everyone else made it home safely. It's a long haul to get to St Anthony's but I understand why people do it now. It not like anyplace I've riden.BR>
I hope that you do get down here to Oregon in August and ride. These tree shutes are a little hairy for my DS (with me as the jockey) as I don't have motor work done. Watching what the 730 can pull out of down there may cause a dent in the wallet faster than I'd planned though!! I hope that your whole crew is along with you. They are a great bunch of people and a kick to ride with.
-BAJAXPIMPN
P.S. The DS has wings.....Sometimes it just leaves a dent when it lands! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

Hey fixitman69 FYI there is also a website www.duneratt.com thats with two t's set up and dedicated wholly for the St.anthony sand dunes you might want to go check that out. There is also a forum over there. Lots of locals on it. The site is awsome for info that people need.
Maps, weather, parts and stuff.

Be sure to checkout Dune Excursions for an exta wheeler if you need one while at St.anthony.

We went there last summer with 4 other families we ride with, a total of 20 atv's and 2 sandrails. I wrecked my dirt bike, bailed off a razorback with not so good results. We went to chokecherry and had a blast, we usually stay at Sandhills Resort, it's a little expensive but worth it. We are going back this year the weekend after the 4th, the sand was great. This year my wife says she wants to go up chokecherry, I have no doubt she will make it cause I took hers up last year no problem. Our kids both had a blast on the dunes and back at camp, can't wait to go this year.
Posted by: cynick
Personally, I think that the dunes in St. A's rules, everything else doesn't even compare. Any way just my thoughts, also we won't be there till July 7 and leaving on the 14th or 15th. We will be staying at Sandhills resort. Hope to see some of you there then, we will be easy to spot, a girl on a pred toting a kid and me on my DS toting another in with a buch of hotrod Banshees.
Posted by: cynick
Was the guy Darin and his wife was her name Laura and thier son Colten? And were they from Yuma AZ. If it was we met them at Little Sahara UT. They are great people. And yes that Rail was awesome and scared the crap out of me. My kids and Husband loved it.
We will be in St. Anthony on the 7th-14th staying at Sandhills this is our yearly ride. Can't wait to go. If you will be there that time let us know.
Posted by: cynick
We agree they were very nice and great to meet. There wasn't many people at LS during the week they got there and they camped right across from them and they were great people.
We will be in St. Anthony staying at Sand Hills 7th-14th if anyone else is gonna be there please stop an say hi. If you see us on the trail give us a waive or come with us we will be with a big group of people but if you look at our pictures you will know what to look for. It would be great to meet some of you.

Crapo85 I am really sorry to hear about your cousin Jeremy. I hope you and the family are doing ok. Maybe you should post the memorial fund on this site as well. It might help his wife and kids out a little more.
Here is the info I got from another site. Please help them out. Thanks.
I guess this guy was a snowmobile racer. Here's the article from a local news source. http://www.localnews8.com/home/3342831.html
Local Man Dead in Sand Dune Accident
July 13, 2006
A local man is dead after a head on-crash at the St. Anthony sand dunes and another man is in the hospital.
The accident happened Wednesday night at about 8:30. The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says the two men were driving their motorcycles at a high rate of speed when they turned a corner and hit each other.
It happened on a trail north of the dunes in a remote area.
Officers say 28 year old Jeremy Crapo of St. Anthony was killed in the collision from massive internal injuries.
18 year old Michael Pacheco of St. Anthony was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
Deputies say both riders were wearing helmets and had safety flags on their motorcycles.
Memorial Fund
I just wanted to let everyone know that you can send donations for Jeremy's wife and kids via Paypal to:
david_crapo@msn.com
If you prefer to mail it in, please make it payable to David Crapo (Jeremy's Dad) and send it to:
Jeremy Crapo Memorial Fund
PO Box 300
Sugar City, ID 83448
I know Jeremy's wife and kids would appreciate it. So would the rest of the Crapo family and all of Jeremy's friends. Myself included. Anything we can do for them will be greatly appreciated.

Had a great time again. Didn't get to meet up with 2fun. maybe next time. I hope you had fun.
We went to the ice caves but we drove there they are in dirt. That was real neat. Was great on a hot day the farther you go in the cooler it gets and my youngest was shivering by the time we got out.
Me and my oldest took a little digger right by Sandhills but nothing big. 3yrs down and can't wait to go again next year.

Lets hear what everyone thinks of ths St. Anthony sand dunes. When are you planning your trip there? How long are you staying? How was the sand? Anything interesting happen? Are you planning on coming back? When? We want to hear it all.
Posted by: fixitman69
We haven't made it out yet this year. Hopefully this weekend. How is choke this year? It would be nice to come meet you sometime, we have a group of about 8 to 10 people that come up from pocatello as often as we can. I'm sure we'll meet up sometime this year.
Posted by: fixitman69
was your 480 done by a machine shop or did you go with the athena kit? I just put the HRC kit in mine friday and i'm loving it so far. If you did happen to put in the athena kit, what is the compression ratio and how do you like it? how does it compare to the stock 450?
Posted by: fixitman69
I'd like to come check out your quad, sounds like you know what you're doing and maybe I could get some good advise and maybe a couple good ideas for mine as well. I'm off to bed for the night. We'll chat more later.
Posted by: fixitman69
Come on, don't tell me that crapo and I are the only ones to ride the dunes here or have anything to sy about them.
Posted by: fixitman69
May is an awesome time to go to the dunes, memorial weekend gets a little too crouded for me though. We will be out there on April 22nd. for sure, and we are thinking of coming out the 15th. if the weather is good. We got some snow here today, so we'll have to wait for a weather report from crapo to see if St. Anthony got any of it and how this weekend is gonna be.
Posted by: fixitman69
We haven't decided if we are coming yet or not this weekend. If we do, we always unload at Egan lake, I'll be watching for your little yellow monster next time we're out there. We have rode lake channel out by American Falls a few times this spring, but its about time to head to St. Anthony for some good fun.
Posted by: fixitman69
We weren't able to make it out this weekend. Funds were a lille short after we bought a new digital video camera for shooting all of our quad footage at the dunes and on the track. We will be out there soon. Can't wait to get some good videos of some wicked jumps and climbing choke and thunder.
Posted by: fixitman69
How was the sand this weekend? Was all the snow gone off the top of choke?
Posted by: fixitman69
We might be out this weekend, if not we will be out there the 22nd. for sure
Posted by: fixitman69
cynick, hope to see you there. St. Anthony is our favorite place to ride.
Posted by: fixitman69
The weather here has been a little rainy and cool, so we haven't been out yet, but we are going soon.
Posted by: fixitman69
kinda quiet in here. Where are all the St. Anthony lovers?

Anybody going out this weekend? We are thinking about going out there sunday.
Posted by: fixitman69
Change of plan. We are going out saturday morning and staying till sunday night.
Posted by: fixitman69
I hope to meet alot of you out there this summer. We ride out there as often as possible. Usually every other weekend.

The dunes were awesome this weekend. Friday night was good, saturday was awesome all day. Sunny, warm, and absolutely no wind all day. Sunday was windy in the morning and just got stronger throughout the day,but if dressed properly the wind isn't that big of a problem. We all had a blast. We had a group of about 16 people out there this weekend. We had a few problems this weekend, but no accidents. My TRX450R is down from a no spark problem. We had 1 banshee roll, bending bars, rear grab bar and 1 rim. The other banshee lost a transmission, so it will be down a while longer. All in all we had a good time and a great trip to the dunes.

Crapo, did you guys make it out this weekend? If so, how was your ride? We were camped on the far side just past sandhills resort. We made it out to thunder saturday morning and made a few runs up it. We were headed back over there saturday afternoon to go up the stairways and head over to choke when my 450R decided it was in a bad mood (I think its pms) so we had to tow it out. We stayed close to camp the rest of the time.

I have a post called (Help, 450R no spark) in the honda and sport quad forums, any and all advise would be helpfull.
Posted by: fixitman69
Wish I could have rode more while we were there last weekend, buy as soon as I get my ride fixed we'll be back out there.
Posted by: fixitman69
MRDS650, not a problem, this thread was started for anything and everything to do with St. Anthony. We go up about every other weekend or so, but my 450 is down right now. Hopefully i'll get it going soon and be back out there.
Posted by: fixitman69
I will have my R going again this weekend, we might be out in the dunes if all goes well.
Posted by: fixitman69
Well, my R is up and going again. Now I just need the funds and the time to come out and play. Can't wait.
Posted by: fixitman69
Been kinda quiet around here lately. St Anthony must be deserted if nobody has been riding out there.
Posted by: fixitman69
We all have to quit riding and go back to work sometimes, and we wanna hear all about everyones rides.
Posted by: fixitman69
How was memorial weekend? Did anyone make it out for the weekend? Was it busy, raining, windy?
Posted by: fixitman69
we will be out on the 17th. Hope to see you guys out there if you are still there.
Posted by: fixitman69
I'm not sure when we are going yet. It will either be the 10th. or the 17th. depending on when my riding buddies get their rides going.
Posted by: fixitman69
sandgod, remember me? my in-laws live in west jordan. Maybe we'll finally get to meet.
Posted by: fixitman69
We will be up there that saturday. It would be great to meet up with some of you guys. We will be parked at egan lake day parking in a red and grey 90 suburban.hope to see you all there.
Posted by: fixitman69
Crapo, you gonna have the 480 out this weekend? I'd like to see how it runs before I get mine. I'm not sure where we will be camped, but we will be there friday night sometime around 9:00 and will be there till sunday afternoon. We will have a Banshee, 2 450R's, 2 400EX's, 2 Rancher 4X4's, a 250EX and a Predator. Keep an eye out for us. My pro-v front bumper is pretty easy to spot. Hope to see you out there.
Posted by: fixitman69
The sand was awesome this weekend. Did everyone have a good time? We had 1 guy wreck his banshee, but with minimal injuries, so that was good. Kinda slowed us down a bit though, so we only made it out to thunder on saturday. We hit thunder again sunday morning, then hauled it to choke around noon. I'm sure we seen a few of you out there, just didn't know who was who. Anyway, we had a blast and I hope all of you did too. Crapo, I was watching for your 480 out on the sand, but never seen you anywhere, hopefully catch up with you somewhere. Next trip coming soon.
Posted by: fixitman69
we will all be out this saturday and sunday. is anyone else gonna be out there this weekend? we will be camped on the other side of sandhills in a red and grey 90 suburban. come introduce yourselves if you are around.
Posted by: fixitman69
we didn't make it out as planned. too many people had to stay and work. how have the dunes been? has it been very windy?
Posted by: fixitman69
we are planning on heading up there again soon. can't wait
Posted by: fixitman69
The dunes were great this weekend. Absolutely no wind saturday. The only thing was the sand was a little soft, but drop a few psi. and off you go. We all had a blast. Can't wait till our next trip. We met a guy out at thunder on a 700 rappy with a boss nos kit, wow, that thing really ripped. I'll have to admit, i was very impressed.
Posted by: fixitman69
We will be going out april 20th thru the 22nd.
Posted by: fixitman69
Crapo, how is that 480 holding up? Was it the athena kit you put in yours? What compression ratio did you go with? I'm hoping to have mine in by this summer, but i'd like to have some more info on it first. Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks
Posted by: fixitman69
I still need to hook up with you at the dunes sometime and go for a good ride. Maybe this summer we can all get together for a group ride.
Posted by: fixitman69
Put in my 480 kit and a yoshi exhaust system this weekend. Will have to speed test it next weekend. Can't wait till the next dune trip.
Posted by: fixitman69
Crapo or any of you guys in this area. Who does your jetting? After my pipe, big bore and ignition upgrade, I need to have this thing jetted, and I want it to run how it is supposed to. Any suggestions?
Posted by: fixitman69
The dunes officialy open april 1st. We are headed out there the 19th through the 22nd. Hope to see some of you there.
Posted by: fixitman69
Is anyone else planning on coming out the weekend of the 20th?
Posted by: fixitman69
Check the weather link on dunerat.com it's usually pretty close.
Posted by: fixitman69
Just a few more tweaks to the TRX then we will be headed back for another fun weekend. Just need to find someone with more experience on the DynaFS programable ignition. Anyone out there know much about programing them?
Posted by: NTSMadDog
I havn't been checking these forums latley, but it looks like there has been alot of fun out at the Dunes. I don't live to far, so i get there as often as i can. The dunes have been a blast this year.
Posted by: NTSMadDog
Too bad I won't make it there this week. Be carefull seems like at least twice a week they are sending Life Flight out there.
Posted by: NTSMadDog
I have heard all about this, my wife works with a few of his friends. My prayers go out to his family
Posted by: NTSMadDog
Hey Crapo, how are the dunes right now. Is there too much snow to ride on them. I was thinking about getting over there this week sometime. It depends on the weather of course, but if there is too much snow on them I probably won't get there.
Posted by: NTSMadDog
oh.. that's too bad. Thanks for such a fast response ..

Suppose everyone is out riding instead of sitting in front of there computer?
Posted by: Speeddrive1
Hot! Luckly we were able to take the boat out.
Posted by: Speeddrive1
In only two weeks from right now we will be on the road to St. Anthony Id. The trip should take about 18 hours , that will put us on the sand at about 1 o'clock mountain time on the 15th. Already put about 80 miles on the rappy 700, and got some sand tires on 10 inch wheels for it. Im so pumped I can hardly wait.

We are staying at sandhills resort. Take a ride through and look for a white GMC dually crewcab with a slide in camper pulling a 20 ft enclosed trailer all with minnesota plates on them, that is us. We have 1 700R, 1 kfx 400and A 450r. Also bringing a 700 sportsman just in case something breaks on one of the bikes, we can still ride.

So, we made it to St. Anthony and had a great time. The dunes were awsome. All of our neighbors at Sand hills were great people. The camp ground was nice and quiet at night. The owners made sure of that. If you made noise after ten he was there on the golf cart to shut you down. 2 fun, I wish we could have had a chance to ride together, but we had to be going just as you guys got there.

Its newyears day and its time to start thinking about a june trip to st.anthony and a july trip to oregon
Posted by: Speeddrive1
Were thinking the first or second week of june for idaho and third or fourth week for oregon dunes.
Posted by: Speeddrive1
Ok, got reservations made for june 11th thru 16th at sandhills resort. So pumped cant wait.
Posted by: Speeddrive1
Hey 2Fun, sad to hear you cant make your yearly time. I would think that at 6000 ft St. Anthony would have cool nights and nice days all summer long. But now you got me wondering, I am going to check the averages for july and august.
Posted by: Speeddrive1
Hey Bluegoose, you better not go to St Anthony. After riding there you wont be able to have fun at Little Sahara any more( just kidding ) We also have a 18 hour drive from minneapolis but it is well worth it.
Posted by: Speeddrive1
2Fun, the averages are June-74/41 with 1.52in precip. July-83/46 with .92 in precip. Aug- 83/43 with .75 in precip. sept-73/35 with .92 in precip. Looks to me like awsome weather all summer long.
