Keel...glad I could share the benefit of my experience with you! I did work my way up from the coffee can to dreaming of that half a million dollar motorhome. You and ATC put another 20 years in it...you'll be helping the pups along too!!! Best part is I'm still a pup at heart!

You MUST however share this weekends experience with us! You will love the bucket...self contained unit does not take up much space in the trailer!!


haha, i'll have a full report come monday all about my bucket experiences this weekend!! JK LOL! hehe, a bucket seems a little massive! but a funnel and a hose...i think it might just work....

Went to Kermit Sunday. Other than the wind, it was great. But this is West Texas and the winds gonna blow. Lots of people, most I've seen in a longtime. No complaints, everyone paid and had a good time. Yeah...... The Good Times are back!!!!!!!!

You can still drink out there, just no bottles and put it in a cup. As long as your not drinking in front of KSI they don't know. And what they don't know.....You can take your ice chest out in the dunes with you, they're not gonna search it. All they want is to make sure you bring back your trash. Gotta have helmets and flags. Make sure you sign the waiver BEFORE you ride, they don't want any liability if something happens. Signs are posted so if you do go riding without signing a waiver and you are on KSI land and something bad happens, they have no liability. People sue now days if they stub their toe on your sidewalk!! Everyone can relate!
You can still camp for free on the counties property. You can also ride for free on the counties property. There is a fence in an L shape, kinda, so you know where county property ends. If you ride on KSI, it's $7 a day. I have heard that they might give a discount for the weekdays, BUT don't quote me on that!!! Call Danny yourself and find out all the info. His number is 432-208-1011. I'm not related to KSI, just a good friend. I'm just tryin to help out anyone that has any questions. As far as riding across 874,[south], I really don't know. Danny's wife told me that Fernandes owns the land and does not want anyone riding over there. KSI also owns land south of 874, but I really don't know exactly where or how much. She told me they don't want any riders over there either. This keeps peace with Fernandes. I make a good PR, anyone have a job out there for me?? Hope I could be of help to someone. No one ever parked up and down the roads! Or on the side of the road! Your just mad! And the county is chicken sh*t for not selling the land in the first place. The county closed down the park because a kid got killed on their property! Get your facts straight! It doesn't take a hick to figure that one out. Your from out of town and all your trying to do is make KSI look bad, but from what I've been reading on the forums, everyone is mighty happy with the hills and KSI. So go blow somewhere else! I'm beginning to wonder if you've EVER been to the dunes before KSI became a part of it. That parking lot was crammed full- people ALWAYS parking on the side of the road...BOTH SIDES!! You STILL serve absolutely NO purpose over here. A freind of mine who works at county is going to get me a copy of the minutes of the meetings of the co commish's court so everyone will be happy that I will be better informed. KSI cleared off the parking lot the first time for all the riders and to make it easier to get into the lot and so no one would get stuck while coming in. I know this for a fact. And yes they paid a backhoe company to do this. The county wouldn't do it, so KSI ask permission from the county to get it cleared off and them they HIRED a company to do it. So I believe that was a good faith judgement on their part for all the free loaders to ride on the free land. Look I don't want to argue but you and I both know that the only county owned land has been the little 18 acres. The rest of the land is owned by someone. So they are enterprising on a hopefully lucrative business venture too YES , one day make money and good money at that. So if you were in their position, wouldn't you like to make money? You purchase an asset, land, make improvements, although it may be slowly, and start charging people to use your land. Cattle ranchers grazed the open range for a long time before the land was bought up. Now they pay to graze on land that isn't theirs. They don't think they have any rights to graze on land that they haven't somehow paid for. Back in the day there were many fights over that same thing. But surely even you can see my point to all this. In this great land of ours, we still have the right to purchase something and make a business out of it. I see nothing wrong with that. And when you deal with the public there will always be someone that will complain about something. I'm just glad we still have the opprotunity to ride. And so close to home!! I'm not saying everything is perfect, but face it, it could be alot worse!!

Yes I have children and yes they rode the dunes since they were five. But unless my memory is really that bad, you know I do have mad cow disease, I don't remember anything so steep that they had to take the easement to miss a really steep hill. I was the worst mother in the world when it came to my children riding. I would have to puke everytime we went to the hills just hoping and praying no one got hurt. So I understand your concern and I believe children should have a special pass when it comes to easement riding but ONLY to miss a dune that they can't handle. The big kids and adults go sailing down the easement I believe for the sure joy they get from terrorizing the little kids and other adults. Just everyone use common sense, but sense we all know that will never happen.....rules are born!

Thanks for all the info guys!! WOW I'm sure glad you set me straight! Sorry you'll have to pay to get to YOUR dunes. I know, put in a road so there will be no gripes. And Concerned Duner I'm so glad to know you have land at the dunes!! How many sections do you own? Can everyone really ride for free? And please be a love and put up an aerial of what you own and where we can all ride for free. That would sure end all this confusion I seem to be having. In other words, put your money (or aerial, google earth pics) where your mouth is. If you've got it then show it and stop talking about it. I guess you are not aware that the surface you are riding on is SAND! It is not set in stone, it does have a tendency to shift OR CHANGE! What one weekend could have nice, well rounded tops may the next visit be sporting a nice, steep drop off. As you know, the area we live in is infamous for 40+ MPH winds in ANY direction at any time of the year- dunes can drastically change in a matter of hours! It appears Raptorlegs was trying to give you another side to a story- from what I have read in the past - he has always maintained that he is trying very hard to stay neutral and give KSI the benefit of the doubt. He gives you his reason for wanting to ride on the easement, a very legitimate one, and you come in and dismiss it pretty much- I mean are you suggesting parents should ride along side of them in the dunes while the child rides down the easement until they reach smaller dunes? I don't know about you, but when my kids are riding, they ride WITH me.

You also stated you believe people ride down the easement to terrorize others? Majority of the time, people ride down the easement to get to a different section of the dunes from a different way...that's one of the beauties of riding out there- you're free to go whatever way you feel like going. Well, gooooooood morning. It is true, the park is going to be closed. It is also my understanding that it is a 2-3 month wait for a pad to be built because of the oil companies building pads for their oil rigs. So, there will no place to park for the time being. Danny doesn't have the money and even if he did its gonna be a while. But no worries. It will all work out, in time. Just sit tight and go to imperial or little sahara. This is definately the right decision by the county and i support their decision whole heartedly. Judge Leck and the rest of the commissioners know what they're doing and this truly is the best thing. THe COUNTY is now going to enforce no-parking/riding on the side of the road due to danny's persistance of that. So, where is HE going to park? He is the one who ticked off the "dead wood" in Kermit which includes the Sheriff himself. Karma is finally rolling around. If you have any more DETAILED questions email me or pm me. Just for everyone's knowledge, the park IS going to be closed in the VERY near future. The dupsters were removed today, which is the first step in closing the park (per the Kermit City Council). The park is LIKELY to be closed this week. So, before anyone makes any plans of any kind, please make sure it is still open.

Well, I'm glad to see everyone looking at this thread again. Missed you this weekend Ripper. God it was fun. The dunes were awesome. The dune goons were out in full force, however all is good. I know i sure did enjoy one last night in the park. The reason the park was shut down is because of CONSTANT phones calls by KSI and "board." Some people chose to pay him and ride through his now useless gate. Some people chose to ride for free simply by crossing the street (which is perfectily leagal per TDOT website) and riding down past his land (which we measured to the foot). However he called the sheriff EVERYTIME we did. The sheriffs office got 20+ phone calls by the dune goons. There were false reports of trespassing. They (tasha and someone i did not recognize) dumped a half of a truck load of trash in the trail we used to go past his land. Then "someone" took the markers we used off the telephone pole, trying to deter us from showing people where his land ended. Several motorhome in our group got sprayed with gravel by a truck from Danny's camp doing donuts in the park. We got cussed at and flipped off by danny and tasha in front of small children. All of this because we gave people a choice. Pay or not pay. Some did. Some chose not to. Danny claims to be the dune savior. However he can't save the dunes from himself. His own selfish tactics have closed down the park. And thats what happend this weekend. Even though all of this occured we had a blast. And we WILL continue to have fun for years to come.

In case ya'll have not figured it out by now its not about the money. You saw us this weekend. Do you think we can afford seven dollars? I would rather pay $70,000 to build my own acre and a half pad then pay Danny $7. Mr. Harper, you truly are speaking out of ignorance. The "no trespassing signs" across FM 874 were placed there by Danny and crew WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE LANDOWNER. Everyone thought that land was Mr. Fernandez's INCLUDING the Sheriffs office. We got permission from Mr. Fernandez to use the front 20ft. of his land to get access around Danny's. When the Sheriffs office recieved word that it was not Mr. Fernandez property they had to wait on proof that it wasn't. Danny's persistant phone calls to the Sheriff's office are the reason for that inquisition. That proof didn't come in until approx. 6:00 PM. Until then we WERE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE STREET. As far as going elsewhere, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. We have enjoyed these dunes for the past 20 years and WILL continue to do so FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. So, YOU park YOUR quads while I enjoy the dunes WHEN i so choose to do so. The park was NOT shut down because of US. It was shut down because of Danny TRYING to FORCE people to pay to ride NOT JUST ON HIS LAND but also on land her doesn't own, lease, or have rights to, INCLUDING OUR SECTION!!!!! It is Danny's own fault he has no place to park and he got it shut down for the rest of the general public. DANNY HAS MADE HIS BED NOW LIE IN IT!!!!!!

There is a 6 ft. burm along FM 874. The picnic tables are in the center of the park, crushed. There is 1 ft. of sand covering all asphalt. THERE IS NO ENTRY TO THE PARK. Zummyboy points fingers at all of us who wouldn't pay his $7. He blames us for the end of this great era. The fact of the matter is that the park has been open since 1953(4). There was never any talk of closing the park until KSI bought that land. There was never any serious problems. There was never any serious conflict. THERE WAS NEVER 20+ PHONE CALLS TO THE SHERIFF IN ONE DAY. Danny and goons have single handedly got the greatest gem in Texas demolished in a big heap of rubble in less than 90 days. Congradulations Dannyboy. Hard work has its rewards huh? Your right, it is hard work to close the park in less than 3 months. There are some of us who are working on restoring the dunes to better than it was before. And yes Danny, you are correct, hard work does have its rewards. And it will feel GREAT when we are all rewarded by the hard work of few, to the restoration of one of God's greatest gifts. THE GIFT OF FREEDOM FOR ALL TO RIDE.

Well, I have a laptop and wireless internet at MY business. You should really try it sometime, it really enhances productivity. Attacking my mother? My god, are we in 3rd grade again. Let me go ahead and address some issues. Let this young man teach you some business 101. Trying to charge for land you don't own is wrong. Lying to people about what you do own PISSES PEOPLE OFF. There is nothing wrong about wanting to ride on dunes DANNY DOESN'T CONTROL. Him trying to force people to pay him by using the law is not good business. Case in point. Danny's bad choices reflect the situation ya'll are in now. There is no where to park for now. And you know, money doesn't buy happiness, BUT IT SURE DOES BUILD A NICE PAD!!! Mr. Harper, I don't know how to get it through to you that its not about the seven dollars. It would have been MUCH cheaper for us to just pay the seven dollars and go on. What does our motorhomes and sandrails have to do with anything? All that shows is the amount of success we've had in OUR businesses. We offered Danny $60,000 for his land months ago. He said "He would only sell for 1 million dollars because thats how much he was gonna make." This offer still stands Mr. Harper. If he would sell his land to us, EVERYONE COULD RETURN TO RIDING FOR FREE. I truly do wish Danny would take the money he has made, the extra ten grand, and continue to ride for free for the rest of his life and his son's life. KSI's only concern is in trying to make money at all cost, not with the well being of the public or the dunes. I truly wish it wasn't this way. His regime has managed to get a 53 year old park turned to rubble. When he first took over, we were afraid something like this would happen. We initially saw the writing on the wall. Thats why we offered to buy the land from Danny. Please ask Danny to take our offer. Help return the dunes to a fun place for all to ride for free. We are not mad at Danny personally. We are just disappointed in his lying, strong-arm tactics, and poor business decisions. So, the ball is in YOUR court. You talk to Danny. See if you get the same results we did. Were you at the city council meeting young lady? Do you know what was said? I WAS AND I DO. The sheriff was adamant on shutting down the park DO TO GROWING CONFLICT BECAUSE OF DANNY. You obviously can't read if you think people are happy with the dunes the way they are. Here, lets take a poll. Call ANY duner and ask him if he is happy with having no place to park because of Danny and goons. It doesn't take a hick to figure out the answer to that question. What does not coming from Kermit have to do with anything. We ARE land owners in the area. If you or the rest of the goons were so concerned with the what was going on YOU would have been at the council meeting. You obviously are not an avid duner or you would know that people always USED to park up and down the side of the road. HMMM, as I recall I do believe Danny WAS parked there initially. Please get a copy of that for us. And if you would be so kind as to post just agenda 15. That would make things so much easier. There are 7 sections of dunes. KSI only owns LESS THAN TWO. So who has a small riding area? Because of Danny's harping on the sheriff so much with his unwanted phone calls about freakin state easement laws, the park was demolished. Now very few people have a place to park. Thats the bottom line. I understand you're upset the county didn't sell the park, but you didn't have to ruin it for the rest of us "free loaders". People have choice. We choose to ride on the land that has always been free to us and STAY OFF YOUR LAND. Thats fine. Not a problem. The problem many of us have, is Danny trying to keep us from the rest of the dunes. We WILL BRING PARKING AND ACCESS to the rest of the dunes and we won't charge a dime. You know why we won't charge a dime? Because we understand that it is wrong to charge people access to our dunes, but allow them to ride on all of them. Which is exactly what Danny has tried to do. And yes, there is a lot of angry people, BUT THAT ANGER IS BECAUSE OF DANNY'S ACTIONS. Everything I have said is undeniable. You call us "free loaders". Some call us "freedom fighters". But we call ourselves "FREE DUNERS". And we WILL make sure this way of life continues in the same way it began. FREE!!!

Jimmy has been charged with aggrivated assault with a deadly weapon. Danny is an Odesa fireman. After two riders, a father and son, got lost on the perimeter trail they stopped to the side of the new KSI pad and realized their mistake. They saw Danny approaching and were going to wait for him and apologize for their mistake. After seeing Danny reach for his sidearm they took off in fear of their life. Danny stopped on the next hill and fired two shots at the unarmed son from a Glock model 22 (.40 cal) . The son thought he had be hit and reached for his back. He then looked back and saw Danny pointing the weapon at him. Danny then said,"I got you mother F-er." and drove off. The also unarmed dad came back to help the son with his fourwheeler that had stalled and they both escaped with their lives. Thank God nobody was killed this day. This is how extreme KSI will go to get their seven dollars. So riders beware. KSI will unlawfully shoot you if THEY THINK you are on their land and you havn't paid your seven dollars.

Sir, I can certainly understand your concern with losing your place to ride. However, what about the safety of others? By you supporting Danny financially, you support his actions. And I dare say that you would support a man who would shoot and unarmed duner in the back. Its truly crazy. And then the fact that he was proud of the fact that he thought he hit that young man. Whoever said it was me who got shot at? I know whom you are referring to. And yes, they got lost as all hell. Have you ever gone on a ride STARTING at the back of the dunes? It&39;s a little different ride. Danny rode a hundred yards from his camp to approach them. As soon as they saw him reach for his gun they took off. Then he pulled it out shot at the back of the son who was following his father trying to escape. The son thought he was hit because his whip hit his back at the same time as the second shot. The son reached for his back to feel for blood, and Danny said, “I got you mother f-er." Then Danny hurriedly left. So Danny thought he shot him too. WHY WOULD ANY UNARMED PERSON TRY TO SURROUND OR CONFRONT A GUY WITH AN OPEN SIDEARM? That would be suicide. There is responsibility of the lost riders, but there is also a responsibility for Danny to mark off his land from the back of the dunes in case someone does get lost. There were zero words said before he pulled that trigger. Danny was so pissed at people not paying, he saw the first two riders without armbands on his property and shot at the back of one of them fully intending to shoot him. It could have been anyone. And that&39;s the scariest part. It could have been you if your armband somehow fell off. It could have been two kids trying to find their way back. I mean jesus man. This is crazy. I in no way condone intentional provoking, but this is just not the case in this instance.

IF you have rode out there anytime in the past two years or so hard not to have seen us toal in the past two years no more then about 10 weekends missed riding... we go rain sleet snow or wind .. been out there a couple times get out at the back and the clouds tend to open up on yeah . Ive seen a couple big groups with 250s 500s could have been you and your family. As soon as i find a open day ill post some pics of the bikes.

hey everybody I'm new to these forums. I just came over from planet sand and I was trying to get status on the kermit sandhills these days. I haven't been in like a year and I am way out of the loop. I am hearing some really crazy stuff so could someone just give me a real brief overview of what is going on out there? somebody that actually knows what is going on. Can you still park and camp in the same areas? Is it all fenced off now? Do you have to pay to ride? Can you still drink out there? any other stupid new rules? I would really appreciate any help you guys might be able to give me. I was planning a trip down there this weekend(10-12) and I was trying to figure out what was going on there before I drove the 3 hours to get there. Thanks for the help.

Man you have way more toys than I have! I really just have one ATC250R that I have dumped silly amounts of money in but I am really proud of it. It has a big bore kit, boyesen reeds, fmf exhaust, k&n, twist throttle, paddles, lazer star lights, etc.. It will run with just about anything out there. I can hang with almost any banshee and can outrun most of the big 4-strokes. I have such a weight advantage for one thing with the single front tire and me only weighing 160 soaking wet. 2-strokes rock! I would love to find some other atc buddies. everytime I go out there it seems like I am the only one there. maybe we can meet up someday and show everybody what the first REAL atv's looked like. lol. where do live dragin? how far are you from kermit? it takes me about 2.5 or 3 hours to get there but it has always been way worth it. if you have a change in plans I'll be there this weekend(10-12). look for my ride with a white enclosed trailer. I'm a white boy 'bout 6 foot tall. 27 yo. nice to meet ya dragin. you've been cool to meet. hope we get to ride together someday! later.

I'm in a white 16 ft enclosed trailer my bike's kinda hard to miss. hope to meet ya maybe have a cold one. I was coming with a buddy of mine but he canceled on me so I'm by myself this trip. I thought about cancelling but I know I'll still have fun. I always meet cool people everytime I'm there so I'm not too worried about being by myself. yeah I've checked ebay. haven't ever seen any. Honda didn't make a 10" gold. the bolt pattern is different on zukes right? I don't think I can put zuke rims on my honda. If I could I would try and get some from the factory.
