whether a swing arm is too long or not for something is a matter of opinion, oldturtle. not fact.
my uncles had identical 250r's one with a +4 and one with a +6. the +6 just was crap in the dunes. others can ride +6's in the dunes fine.
we all know wheel base increases help straight away stability and if you're ice racing and dune riding, i dont think a +6 is practical.
ive seen +10 bikes in the dunes, doesnt mean its practical.

Not exactly correct. There are many +6 swing arms used for all around duning. The best length SA depends on your motor and your riding conditions. Adreneline Powersports in Sacramento stocks a +5 SA for a Banshee because so many customers are thinking of either +4 or +6 so they split the difference. My motor is a little on mild side for +5 but I may increase output in future and as my skills improve I think I will appreciate the +5 more. For now the +5 is very easy to turn on steep sand uphills and still gets by on slow speed sand trails. The unwanted wheelying of the past is gone. The +5 works for me.

I would like some opinions on what a good length to extend my swing arm too. I don't want a radical 12" xtension,I just want a good all around, all purpose swing arm. I also Ice race. I was thinking 3".What do you guys think?

I think I may run this quad for awhile and see how she feels with the kx250 in it. I will probably go with 3" if any. Thanks for all the input!!
