Sandbomber what axle set up will you be using? Also are you using the stock subframe or something else?

WOW sounds like you have shaved some pounds off that bike. You don't plan on using the seat much do you?

I just took a look @ pic #13, that thing is a skeleton. Looks like you sent it to trimspa. Anna Nicole Smith would be jealous of what you pulled off your DS frame. LOL. Looks like you'll have a runner for sure! Keep us posted.

some are getting close to that goal.

On my pic page, on # 3 that has had a little weight taken off, I havnt done the math on it yet, Any guesses?

I will be there when 800 gets back together but will be for hill shooting only

Joe the axle is jj & a alum. and the sub frame is lightened as much as possible. Only one down tube, it supports the seat only.

Ive just about hit the 100 lb. mark. But, I m set up for drags and light dune riding. My plus 8 swingarm is only 9.2 lbs. I run Marvin Shaw shocks, which are extremely light compared to the stockers. Almost 38 lbs right there. I also machined my hubs and went with the 520 non oring chain. I also changed my motor mounts to all aluminum. These things along with a custom battery box and a few other items, we are close to the 100 lb. mark.

Its a long process to complete, but worth it.

Good Luck,

Gary

I think what he was getting at was that you should post this under the Bombardier forum. THat is where all of the DS guys hang out. THis topic has been discussed many times over there. Do a search on the Bomb forum.

For a hundread lbs you would probably have to spend a lot of money to achieve your goal, if it is in fact a goal that can be achieved.

well if you tampered with the frame, but that wouldn't be very easy, i would own a ds if it wasn't so heavy, but why did u post this under the dune section, LOL everyone my dad brougt his new grizzly and my uncle brought his new fyz to the dunes. THE YFZ WAS AMAZING!!!! the grizzly was funny

Could a person realistically shave 100 pounds off the total weight of a DS. How much of a difference would it make as far as top speed and acceleration.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I posted here and not on the performance mods and project quads is the DS is more of a dune machine than anything. I think I asked the same question on the Bombardier board a year or so ago and didnt get a response. Anyways, could you give me an idea of what kind of modifications could be made to seriously shave some weight?

Thanks for the help everyone.
