I have an 03 Raptor that I ride in the sand and like it alot. A friend just bought a KFX 700 and with pipes it sounds cool so he says. Has someone ridden both bikes in the sand and how do they compare? I like the idea of the auto (I have a Sportsman 700) but I worry about the size and weight of the 700????

Thanks DC504!

I got spoiled riding my Sportsman 700 and there are times in a right hand slide with the Raptor that I would like an auto, but then its fun to shift and pull the front end off the sand with the Raptor. I guess I need to ride one and see, a guy at work just bought one but we can't seem to hook up at the dunes. I really don't want anything with less power than the Raptor and I don't want it to be any heavier for turning on a side hill and I want to be able to wheelie at anytime. I had a sandrail that was heavy and it sucked in the sand but if the KFX has enough power it won't matter. Thanks for the input and I am going to Vegas today to sit on some quads and the wife wants a Scrambler 500 4x4 so I will check that out too.

Wife has her mind set on 4x4 after riding the Sportsman in the sand, she is new and won't get up very high yet. I happen to have 2 Raptors so I was thinking of selling them and getting the KFX but I just read and article in a magazine and the Raptor won the sand shoot out so I am going to wait until I can actuall dune with a KFX before I do anthing but thanks for the input.

Once again it depends on you. I live here in Utah so I ride Jericho and St. A. which means a lot of vertical. Because of this weight is an issue. The KFX is a heavy weight. It does sound sweet piped out, and for a cruiser it is probably great, but to be competitive go with the raptor.

The KFX gets out of the hole pretty good and throws a lot of sand. But on big hills the Raptor will do better, the KFX being so heavy. I've ridden both, own a Raptor, and prefer the Raptor but the V Force was pretty fun anyhow. That's on the big hills in Idaho, in smaller dunes the difference may not be as noticeable.

our vforce with 24 inch skat trak extremes, hmf duals, and kn filter with carbon fiber snorkel is awesome. It has loads of power and does great in the sand. 2 times better than a raptor if you ask me.

i rode a kfx 700 in the sand before, but not a raptor. it was a short ride, but heres my opinion on the kfx:

pros:
lots of power
auto works good(instant throttle response)
power everywhere
doesnt feel so heavy when your on the gas
plush suspension
comfortable

cons:
big
heavy
heavy steering effort
belt whines

i liked it, but i would still prefer the raptor because of the lighter weight.

Everybody that rides mine in the sand comes back with a big smile on their face! I love my V. It does a good job at Glamis!

Why not get her the V-Force? Then you can ride it and get you a raptor also
