yeah what he said, either your gear like a tractor or youve never been up choke!i have a 01 trans ratio and 12/40 gearing,i go up choke wound to the nuts in 2nd,or 3rd bogging a little,12/40 works great at thunder though

I climbed Choke Cherry on my bone stock YFZ last year in third gear. Well, I had the pea shooter and lid removed. I was clocked at 27 mph. and I weigh 220 lbs. I was running a 20'' 8 paddle Hauler Glider mix.

I could have pulled it faster in 2nd for sure. It was about half throttle in 3rd.

Depends on gearing mostly then what mods you've done. When I hill shoot in the dunes I start in second and shift into third while climbing, it's pretty hard to beat. I could torque out 4th gear but it wouldn't get me there any faster and the hill isn't long enough.

I'm not talking about choke cherry, I was speakin in general terms using the hill I race on as an example.

if you are running 20" paddles run stock gearing
21 or 22's run a 13tooth front
I know of a yfz that could run faster than 42mph

was that one of your local yfz's or a out of towner,

I think norm runs his different than boondockers sells there standard kit. His bike runs 30+hp shot the standard kit maxes at 25hp shot, didnt norm blow up a piston over laborday?? can norm take brindleys nitrous trx???

well my bike is faster as well now. right after i got home from idaho i did some more work on my bike. I have picked up 10mph on my local hill

you guys should come down for easterBR>I dont think I will go to idaho for awhile

The best advertisement for Boondockers is watching all those YFZ's race up the hill, then ol Norm pulls up and proceeds to KILL them all by a mile. If there was a Boondocker guy sitting there with whole kits he'd have sold out on the spot!

Hey Mitch I heard a local guy from down there broke his back over the weekend. You hear anything?

If your stock second if your modded and light weight maybe 3rd try running the 21/12/8 8 paddle they seem to get up on the sand the best
Stock will bring you out at about 25 to 26 MPH slipon intake cleaned ports around 30 MPH with n02 36 37 MPH Bore/stroke n02 around 42 43 MPH

Will a yfz climb choke cherry dune at St. anthonys dunes in Idaho in 3rd gear? I am from canada and have been at these dunes 8 times and am curious how they climb it with skat trak hauler paddles? I can climb it barely in 3rd gear with my stock 1985 honda atc 250r , it still has the stock bore and motor is stock except for fmf silencer. I also have a 86 honda 250r quad that will barely climb it in 3rd both are stock gearing.
