Grizz will do fine. 2 wheel drive unless you climb the big dune hills. We take a polaris 4x4 (325?) sometimes and it does good and jumps good also.

hey atc86r if sidewinder is going to get you a voucher, he will need the plate number of the vehicle you will be driving.

I have never seen them check your plate number either, but they always ask what it is.
THe ORV sticker is 16.25, anything that goes on the dunes has to have one, the daily stickers are $8 for everything that has a motor on it, so if you show up in a truck with 2 quads it will cost 24 to get in, that is each day you go. the yearly one for out of staters is $29

You are going to have a blast, there are a lot of puddles to blast through by the beach, I was there on a 4x4 before, I had lots of fun, just lower your tire pressure down to 3 lbs, you will have no problems

IT was a great day at the dunes, It was nice meeting DC504 and his Dad, and sidewinder 500. I printed this thread out so I would know what eveybody was driving, but I left it at homeso i didn't get to meet everybody. I went with a friend that was his 1st time, he had a blast. I know I am on a bunch of video, I saw several people taping the drags Saw the orange helicoptor once and heard the ambulance twice Some bastard stole some tools from me, Rodney got his full gas can stolen, these were at different times. I wish people would leave peoples stuff alone.. I will be back soon.

got back earlier taday. it was a great time at the dunes. i met sidewinder500, bigwaynester, murdr, and shaolinfox. however, i didnt see sandcowboy or atc86r. where were you guys? i hope i get to go back one more time this year, but we have a busy schedule so im not sure. if i do go back, though, im most likely gonna be on a new machine. (raptor or z) or maybe even a kfx 700. i rode bigwaynesters buddy's kfx 700 and it was real nice. its a big, heavy machine, but it really doesnt feel that heavy when your on the gas. i thought with an auto tranny, it would lose a lot of power and speed, but this thing has monster power, decent handling, and very plush suspension. definitely not something to pass up if i find a good deal on one.
i had fun jumping on my dads z400 and i think i got some decent air for it being my first time. it was also a lot of fun opening it up on the straights and roosting around the trees. there was a guy videotaping me and my dad doing donuts and rooster tails. overall, a real good time, but before next trip, i gotta get a faster machine to keep up.

You wont need vouchers for friday just make sure you have all your permits. you can get them at the entrance gate to the parking lot.
You will need vouchers for saturday morning, you can get them friday night I believe they start handing them out at the voucher center at 9pm. If you dont get them friday night you can get in line on saturday morning and the voucher center opens at I believe 7am.
All you need is one voucher to park and ride. The voucher just gives you a time that you will be permitted into the parking area. Example you go friday night and they will give you a choice for a voucher for 7am to 9am or 8am to 10am. As long as you are there before your latest time you should be able to drive right in and park..... and then hit the dunes.

For those needing vouchers for saturday that arent arriving till saturday I will get as many vouchers as we can (1 per legal driver in the vehicle going thru the voucher line) I am staying at Silver City II campgrounds. I'm not sure when are whole group is going to arrive part of us on thursday, part of us on friday and part of us on saturday. If we have enough people on friday to get 2 extras we will just let me know how to get them to you in case I can get a couple for you. Not making any promises but I will give it my best shot to help you out.

a lil rain never stopped me..... It rained last year while we were there in the morning one day.... It kept a bunch of people off the dunes... the ones that did ride we had the dunes pretty much to ourselves it was pretty sweet.

last time I was there I was sitting on top of test hill and there was 2 idiots on raptors riding in front of test hill down to the beach.. They werent paying attention to each other and drifted into each other and tires got locked up and they flipped all over the place... .they both jumped up to see how many people actually witnessed it.... they got a nice standing ovation.

We usually get our vouchers for 7 to 8 am and usually get there right around 7. we havent had a problem with lines at the park at that time it starts getting busier the closer to 8 that it gets.

All the campgrounds I have stayed at there have showers... some are pay some are free. Just depends on where you are staying at. See ya on the dunes.

I had a great time out there! I had quite a few people video tape and take pictures of a whole group of us jumping over the dunes. Was cool to be there to see DC504 take his first jump. Met Bigwaynester, atc86r, and sandcowboy.
My banshee broke down on saturday but it was just sand clogging my idle jet so no biggie a quick fix and was back at it.
Was an absolutely great weekend! I can't wait for my next trip out there but I doubt it will be till next spring.

Our group from APP Performance is going, there will be about 8 of us, staying at Yogi Bear, We will be the group with the Drag Race Banshee (about 80HP!!), I will be on the Yamaha Big Wheel with a Pro Wedge Rear Tire, it kicks A**!! haha

dc504 hey good to see you had a nice time.You read my post obviously and that why we didn't show up Sat like we told you we would.But it was fun without all the mishaps.Labor Day I m planning on going to Mississippi to ride with my uncle.There is a national forest with some nasty mudholes and hills along a pipline.That is going to be cool,I'll try to get some pics to bring back.Last time I was there instead of a green quad it was totally covered(took 2hrs to clean)with mud.we may go back to silver lakes in Oct or Nov
