Uhh... the Raptor 350 is the Warrior with a new dress. And a few little mods. Different tires and pipe. Should be slightly faster (out of the hole) all things equal with new pipe and tires. Top end, depending on if they changed the gearing. And she lost about 20lbs. There are other (better ergonomics) changes as well.

I think the main reason for discontinuing the warrior was to give it and updated look. And the raptor name is a good selling point. The warrior has been faithfull for years. It was time to put the old girl to rest.
Sure it will be a better duner, lighter and it'll rev faster and get out of the hole better. But a good pair of sand tires and you'll beat a warrior

My 87 Warrior was bought brand new in late 86. It was pounded, rolled, jumped, kicked, slammed, for 18 or so years. Granted we did excellent maintanence on her. She finally started to give up the ghost last season. Broken clutches, bad crank, worn piston, metal in the oil filter, and blue smoke. Warriors are killer quads and WILL last forever.

I am assuming the Rator 350 is a better dune ATV? Which is more easily modified? Any pros and cons of each model would be appreciated. I have noticed many of the forum members have warriors, but for a very similar price could own a Raptor 350, any reasons for that? It also seems Yamaha has discontinued the warrior, why?

Thats not bad. I have a buddy with an 87 warrior he still rides. Mine only made it 6 years thru the abuse i put her thru but thats a few thousand hours of riding. She needs a full tear down and a new head and crank and rod and stuff. Tried modding it with cam and piston and junk and the piston came apart. and messed up the head and got the crank real hot. I put it back together anyway and it still runs. Just needs a lil TLC, Im givin it to a friend to rebuild. and he will learn to ride on it. as far as dune machine. OHH HELL NO i guess its fun but as the age old story in the dunes goes you can never have enough power Good durable trail bikes though.
