Dumont is the same as Glamis as far as temps.
Pismo is cool in the summer. Just be ready for wind and rust. WD40 is your friend at pismo BR>

Pismo is tiny. The only good thing going for it is its on the coast so it has nice weather. If you dont mind driving go to the oregon dunes, way better than pismo. You will be bored with Pismo after a day or so.

Let me guess, you havent been anywhere besides pismo? Try glamis or St. Anthony if you want bowls, 4th gear wide open around and around. You can ride all of pismo in a couple hours. We stay at glamis for a week at a time and never ride the whole area.

I am not into just bowl's either. Glamis and st. anthony have the sweetest duning for all out duning anywhere, dumont is a close 3rd. The transitions between the big dunes are perfect to keep speeds up. more jumps that you could ever do.
Click here for a pic i took at glamis
It shows a fraction of the dunes to ride. We rode almost 25 miles one way down to buttercup(colorado river) and back on one day, there are so many dunes out there, its crazy. In that pic those dunes look small but they arent, all of those dunes are bigger than the biggest dune at pismo. We could drive 5 hours to pismo or 11 hours to glamis, will go to glamis over pismo anyday even though its more than double the drive. Will be leaving for st. anthony which is a 13 hour drive next week.
I just dont want this guy from arizona who rides glamis to expect pismo to be similar to what glamis is after driving 8 hours to get there because its not even close.

yep. some area that is out of view to the right side is closed off but the ASA is fighting to get it back open

Ryan, you're from Boise, St Anthony wouldn't feel hot to you!
Snowing in Hamilton MT right now, probably doing that at the dunes in Rexburg too.

Yes you will

Oregon Dunes are about as temperate as you can get. It still gets into the 90's, mid summer, but that a lot better than 110* at most of the other dunes!
I'm going to St. Anthony's mid June, then Florence in July because I've heard that St. A's gets flamin' in July.

I just moved here from Portland, Oregon less than a year ago. So far, my definition of cold has been re-defined. I'm sure I will truely find out what HOT is too very soon!

I live about 15 minutes South of Pismo... ride there atleast twice a week. *looks out window* Bright blue skies and temps in the 70s, beautiful! Depending on the day, Pismo may be a little foggy or cloudy since it is right on the coastline. The coast also means wind! It usually isn't bad at all, however last weekend was a sandstorm and I literally did not see one single person far out in the dunes. Normally, Pismo is sunny, wind is usually not a problem at all, and it isn't too crowded unless it is a holiday.

Tiny? Hmm, seems big enough to me. Never crowded unless it is a holiday and the dunes are always shifting with the wind from the ocean. Sand is sand, what more do you need? Pismo has plenty to offer as far as bowls and jumps. I've been riding out there several times a week for over a year and still haven't gotten bored with it.

Only ridden Pismo as far as sand riding goes. What does size matter if it isn't crowded? I could ride all of Pismo in less than an hour, there is still a ton to do. Maybe it's just me, but I love Pismo. Enough jumps to last me for hours, sand and weather is always nice, wheelie up dunes, roost some sand over some bowls. Simply riding around a bowl isn't my thing, so the lack of huge bowls isn't that big of a deal to me. I'm moving down to San Diego in August so maybe I'll hit up Glamis before I sell the quad for a streetbike.

Oh, and to clear things up... I am not trying to compare Pismo to Glamis. From what I've heard, Glamis is a totally different sandbox. I just wish Pismo would get more credit sometimes.

Holy crap, is all of the area in that pic open to OHVs?

You're so close to Glamis... just go there and enjoy the dry heat.

Yeah you have comp hill and the drag flats. The weather there in the summer is nice besides the wind at times.
