Somebody call for me???? Oooops wrong God!! Probably no paddles, beacuse nobody could ever pass as they're getting buried from a roost. Safety would be a concern also as people wouldn't be able to see in front of them and could esaily rear end a stalled or crashed quad as their heads would be tilted down from avoiding others roosts..

The Central Coast Motorcycle Association announced an endurance beach race at Pismo dunes on Oct 23rd & 24th. It's the first of it's kind in the country. A 5 mile race track all thru the Pismo Dunes, Each race will go for a whole two hours!!. I can't wait. This is going to be huge!!!! No paddles allowed!

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

Here is the official website, with all the information www.pismobeachrace.com

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

You guys are funny. How does a thread about an endurance race turn into a conversation about racing at the flats. LOL

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

I hope they have a team race. That would be fun. Racing two hours all by myself would be pretty tough. I better hit the treadmill, If I think I want to do something like that, Not to mention I better be in a lot better riding shape.

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

Sounds good... now you guys can go back to your drag race talk....

Nobody said it was going to be easy. If they do it in France, I'm sure they can do it here

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

The race is still almost 6 months away, So I'm sure the website will have more information as the race gets closer.

Yep there is. I'm trying to find out how many people on a team. I'm also trying to figure out what post entry only for the team race means. I imagine I'll be putting a team together for the race. 2 hours straight of racing is a long time for this wimp..

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

Post entry is entering the day of the race. The teams will be 3 riders max and 1 bike. The members on the team all have to be of the same riding ability, i.e. Pro, A, B, or C. There still figuring out the exact race schedule.

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

If I was you, I would start out in the 4-Stroke C (16-24 age group) class. When you fill your ready to move up a class, Than do it. There's nothing wrong with starting in the beginner class to get your feet wet.

Posted by: 250R4LIFE

The race is getting close!!! Just two weeks away!!!

Which race you going to do? I'm going to do the team race A

Good luck!!! Hope you do well.

I finished 1st in the A classs team race with my two buddy's PBracing & JRrider. We finished third overall behind two team's in the pro class. The course was brutal, Not to mention 9.2 miles long. We were the last race of the day, So it was whooped out pretty bad. We made it for 10 laps. So we took the quad 92 miles in three hours. And yes I'm sore. But it was fun. Sorry to hear about your wreck Crobiker I hope everything go's well.

Damn Cro...Hope you feel better

i'm definately gonna do it, me and my friend r gonna sign up, we jus hope that they don't limit the # of people, or have requirements u have to meet to get in.

Posted by: CroBiker

the website has the rule info. i beleive it's same rules as GNCC races, that's what i understood from the site, but i'm not sure so don't quote me on that. i do think i have a pretty good idea why they don't allow paddles tho. with regular races the higher level classes have more expensive equipment giving them a distinct advantage, that's why they are in a seperate class. However, in the sand having paddle tires is a huge advantage. the problem is that (as most of us know) sand tires can be ridiculously expensive. so to even out the field, they can jus eliminate the tires all together. again, this is just my opinion, but it seems to make a lot of sense, to me at least.

Posted by: CroBiker

also, the 96 dB sound limit is not strictly enforced, there's an optional check, but it's mandatory if they think ur too loud.

Posted by: CroBiker

ya, a team race would be nice, i'd like to see how i compare to everybody else tho on endurance, since i don't get to ride every week.

Posted by: CroBiker

250r4life: i think u can answer a questions i've had for a little while. i really want to start racing but i don't know what class i would be in. i would be a first timer, i'm 16, and i have a 450r. what class would i be in? and if you could explain how the classes work too that would be awesome.

Posted by: CroBiker

tell me about it. i'm goin up to pismo this weekend for one last practice session. i ended up deciding to run my razr rears. they r 6-ply, and i run them with no PSI with no beadlocks, and they don't even come close to comin off the rims. they work really well. so i take it that you will be in the race then. look for a red dodge durango with a white covered trailer (dual axle) it'll have a whit YFZ and a red 450r. that'll be me and my buddy.

Posted by: CroBiker

good luck to you too. do u know how many entries there are so far? i was thinkin the other day about how awesome it would be to have 500 quads do a dead engine start at the same time, with a long run down the beach. i could just imagine this huge mass of quads, it would be deafeningly loud. ahh man, how kool it would be.

Posted by: CroBiker

quads race sat.

Posted by: CroBiker

the wet sand will definately help traction. i run no pressure in my razr tires for the sand, i may need to add a pound or so if it's gonna be wet, more likely to rip a bead. i'm actually lookin forward to racin in the rain, i might need to get some tear offs tho. since i almost always ride at pismo, i don't get to get muddy and dirty, so i think it will make it more fun. at least we wont have to worry about gettin too hot!

Posted by: CroBiker

so who all was a the race? i raced the second race in the 4-stroke C class, i was the first off the line, for about 10 feet. i was only a few quads behind the leader, and had him in sight throughout the first lap, but then the guy in front of me lost it through an up hill turn, and i stall the bike. by the time i got going again i had dropped back 3 or 4 places. goin around on the second lap i was tryin to catch up, and i tried clearing that step up (it's a lil bit after the start, it rolled up, then down, then back up) and didn't make it. i hit my face on the bars, lost a tooth, knocked 3 of them backwards, and spent the rest of the night in the hospital. i bit clear through my lip as well. i'm gonna be ok, i have 40-50 stitches in my lip, and wire and a metal plate holding my bottom teeth in place, and lots of pain killers. suprisingly it didn't hurt very bad when i did it. i had a blast that first lap, and was suprised at how fast i was, u can count on the face that i'll be back out there next year. racing was sooooo much fun, and once i'm fixed up, i'll be out riding again gettin ready for the next one. i hope everybody had a good time (or better time than i did). my buddy placed 5th in 4 stroke C, it was his first race as well. i think i coulda placed in the top 3 if i hadn't fallen, o well. how did u guys do?

Posted by: CroBiker

lol, ya basically. my face is all swollen up right now, i don't even look like myself. there's basically no pain, and i'm not takin ne meds, i hate medicine. i do take these pills tho, so i wont get an infection, but no pain pills cuz it don't hurt. my bike wasn't damaged, cept for i need a new crossbar pad, and i'm gettin a new helmet. the best part? no school for 3 days!

Posted by: CroBiker

man, i can only imagine how harsh that track musta been for u. that first turn made me realize how nice a super thick seat foam and a gripper seat cover would be. those ruts were brutal. i actually like the whoops, and was hopin for more of them, whoops are my fav. part of riding, aside from wheelies. i was passin a bunch of people in the whoops too. were u guys jumpin that step up that i described? maybe it changed from my race to urs, but a lot of guys weren't tryin to clear it, so maybe i shouldn't have. i wish i coulda seen what the pros were doin in that section.

Posted by: CroBiker

thanx. i'm goin to the doc in a few min. so i'll know how long it'll be before im out riding again.

Posted by: bansheeesmoker

sounds like something my bike would do good at. no paddels no roost. its easer to pass someone when you can see.lol

Posted by: Bakobanshee

Are the quads racing on Sat. or Sun?

Posted by: DSengineer

Now that sounds like fun. Something different from the usual drag racing. Why no paddles though?

Any more information in regards to classes, registration, etc.?

Posted by: DSengineer

How do you tear up 5-miles of sand dunes???

Posted by: DSengineer

No paddles and there was mention of 96dB limit on exhaust on the website. The website can definately use some work!

The dirtbikes are going to have a really tough time making it through the without paddles.

I'm definately going to try to make it down that weekend at least to watch the event.

It looks like it will be raining all weekend. How do you think it will effect the race? Better traction or does it even matter?

Posted by: 1BADRAPTOR

so thunder is slow huh...

Posted by: 1BADRAPTOR

I wanna race, i wanna be on a team of riders, and i can ride the whole 2 hours but why!! let me know what's up..

I will help the bikes out more than the quads. Wet sand is hard so be ready to take a beating. If I were racing I would soften up my suspension allot. Good luck to everyone attending.
