Its real easy, just leave a little air in the tire. It will help keep the tire from colapsing (sp) so easy. I use this method all the time at the shop and it works well.

What kind of machine did you get?

I just tried this and it helped a bunch. Spray a little WD40 where the tire and rim meet as you press down. Now work the bead breaker around in about a 4" section. Just press and release and kind of work the tire over the bead. The WD40 really helped once it starts working its way in between them.

I got the bench one from Northern Tool. Cost me $39.99 and has saved me about $400.00 Not to shabby even though it's kind of a cheapo.

I purchased a tire machine and even with that it is impossible to break the beads down. Mounting the tires are now a breeze but this bead breaking is killing me.
Do you have any tips on getting the bead to break down? The breaker keeps slipping down the side of the tire and not staying next to the rim.

It's one from harbor freight that is floor mounted and I also got the motorcycle adapter which works great.
Switching from a paddle to a knobbie is easy work now for by bikes
