For all those that went to Glamis for Halloween, did anyone run into any problems with the noise limits? Or for that matter, notice if they even cared?

Posted by: Slacker1bob

It is a bunch of bull if you ask me. Stock 2 strokes would seem to have a tough time staying quiet.

Damn, I got an 86

Posted by: Slacker1bob

Probably not. It says on the tag. I could play ignorant and not know where it is. Whatever, 90% of the quads there will be over the limit. Essentially anything with an aftermarket pipe, especially two strokes.
I could understand this restriction in Pismo, because the homeowners are starting to complain(Should have known better than to of built a house by a vehicle park), but Glamis has no one to be harmed by the noise.

Yeah, but I think mine was actually manufactured in 86. Good point. I am gonna look and verify.

Checked the VIN, mine was made in 1/86 Just missed it. Anyways, I am not worried. Seems like way too many people to pinpoint or get all who are noisy.

i didnt see them doing it....but they are going to start is the word.

i did the poker run and the last stop had the noise regs as their theme. i got my R tested and it pulled 104db with packing that i havent changed as of yet. the person that tested it said id most likely get let go if i wasnt hauling ass through campsites and acting like an idiot. he did mention that drag bikes will be most likely targeted.

oops, sorry. i changed the packing and im sure im a little lower but not by much. i run an FMF pipe with some unknown silencer.

my bike was made in 85 (86 model), my limit is 101db. sorry guys.

Posted by: HA2

the guy that tested my bike said although they are an 86 model, it was made in 85. it even says on my ID tag 1986 model, 1985 production.

also check your pink slip. mine has a column that goes like so:

Date First Sold
1/1/1985

hope this helps some...just play it cool, and you should be fine

Get a 1985 or older bike and you get 101db.....woohooo!!! I was out there for Halloween also and didn't see any LEOs doing sound checks or stopping anyone for it. There were plenty of bikes/vehicles that I'm sure would not pass riding around. Haven't heard if they are going to enforce it there @ Glamis. They are doing it @ Ocotillio Wells though. I got stopped once and they saw I had an 1985 and didn't bother checking me. Looks like I won't be getting rid of my 85 350x any time soon.

No. I went right by (~60') some rangers, obviously in non-WOT areas and they didn't even seem to notice - and my bike is loud.

Just checked my bill of sale and my YFZ is in fact an '85 - great!

LMAO!! Slacker1bob

If you get stopped, just play dumb and say "uummm, I'm pretty sure this baby is an 85'." They probably wouldn't care enough to check.

That would be me.BR>
After putting a WB R4 on my Raptor......well.....it aint exactly quite.
