The area from pole 8 all the way to Devil's Slide has been closed since 1982. No access has been allowed since then. I have flown over it in a small plane and it still looked pretty much the same except for the base. At the time there was a huge drop straight to the water. It may be different now as the weather and tide changes. Don't let the pics above fool you. It looks like one steep hill, but there were actually two steep parts. You hit the bottom for all you were worth and went straight up. At approx. 500ft it leveled off to about half as steep as the first part for about 100ft and then went straight up again for another 600 to 700 ft. It was a challenge on the ATCs(185s and built 90s and 110s) of the day. I still remember staring drop jawed at the first 81 250R I saw go up. Two monthes later I had one. That area has some of the finest dunes anywhere. I really miss it.

It sucks to say but Pismo is only open to pole 8 and yes that guy is on crack. I went up for the day on Sunday to see for my self but to by dislike no big hills were opened just the beach area to pole 6...

I would like to know how big it is or any pics of the Good ol days would be cool.

Its funny how everybody says pismo has small dunes and its a "toy box". I laugh because most of these people havent see all of pismo. Sure would be nice if they opened up DS. It would make for some good asss hill racing

slide was a big hill, but it wasnt the height that hilled you. It was nearly straight up and down. It was at such a radical angle you couldnt even get a run at it cuz you'd basically run straight into a wall of sand.

lol back in the day...haha

very doubtful they are going to open that area.

I remmber the jeeep races the used to hold back in 89,it was so fun back then.

Damn, if they did that I would have put my bike back together just to run it for a day. I dont think the will ever open "The Slide" back up. But we can dream

Trust me guys, The pictures do it no justice. Usually half way up you would see 4x4s overheated , and many had to back down because they couldnt make it. Maybe one day before its my time to go, I will cut the fence and make a run for it. Wonder how far I would get before Johnny Law would get me?

I just talked to the girl @ Angelo's and she had heard nothing about them opening up the slide. If anyone would know it would be them.

Yeah, I was there this weekend and I saw that pole 15............It was a 15mph speed limit sign! that's the only pole 15 I saw on the beach. They did open up more beach, but not all the way to devils slideBR>
RaptorOwner, You've got a pretty fast bike there man, to bad there wasn't that much competition there this weekend.

Later, JLew

I heard they are going to open it back up to Devils Slide this weekend or next. Has anyone heard anything about this or is it a sick teasing rumor?

Posted by: spoolnaround

Ok, the same guy that told me it was going to be open told my neighbor that he was at pole 17 on the beach over the weekend! Anyone want to go to Pismo tomorrow with me to find out for ourselves? I need to find out if this guy is on crack! Anyone else going for Thanksgiving?
