Let us know if it does sell and who the new owners are, we are planning a trip there for a week and planned to stay at oasis cuz of the problems with the people at sand hells. If there are new nicer owners we would love to stay there. Sean

I'm sure it will take a while. With a little luck by next riding season it will have new-and-improved owners. BR>
I'm not sure I could deal with Mean Gene and Shirley the Nazi at Sand HELLS Resort much more.

I believe there is alot of support for continued riding there. I think that is what you are asking. The BLM just recently put quite a bit of money into the egin lake parking/camping area, and have plans for added upgrades. There is also a fairly new campground, the desert oasis, that is working to make it nicer.

I have heard that the dunes close sometime in the winter, but then I heard that was false, so I dont know.

I have not heard of any enviromentalist groups trying to close the dunes, so everyone keep quite and dont let them know about the dunes there. LOL

I have heard that snowmobilers go out there in the winter. I dont personally know.

I am not really local, it is about 5 hours for me. I am sure some of the local guys will chime in with their opinion, they probably hear more about the area being closer. I am just going off what I have seen when I have been there this past summer.

I hope the enviro-weenies keep there hands off. There are small closed areas and trails, but they are not marked very well. I think the key is to stay off the vegetation and stick to the open sand. That seems to be what the blm is looking for up there.

Anybody would be better than the present owners! Can you post the mailer?

Anyone know what if any enviormental issues at st.a's. BLM, State, and local. How much support for continued riding there and for how long?

Thanks! That is what I was asking...Just wondering what the local feeling is on the riding area. I guess seeing how Pismo gets smaller, Sand Mtn. Nevada facing more closure, Oregon coast closure's. I would be leary of spending 1.7mil on somthing that could be closed because a bunch of tree huggers get their panties in a wad. I havn't been to st.a's in the winter but I bet it can be cold!

I was there Aug. 7-8-9th this year. We had a great time and will be back next summer.

Thanks Batoutahell, Shady and Selector! I had read that it is a wilderness study area, that is why the ?'s. All of my experience is anecdotal, just what I&39;ve seen and heard from people while riding or visiting there. Idaho is worlds away from California fortunately for the people of Idaho! But living in cal makes you paranoid of tree huggers and government intervention…I&39;d hate to see 1.7mil spent and then have the area closed...

Fourtunatly I live in rural Nor-Cal...But it is getting really nuts even up here! Too many Bay area and So-Cal transplants that know better than those of us that have always lived here!

Yeah run it into the ground

Lets start a co-op, it will be like a communism.....j/k shady. I think it would be a nice way to live, if yoiu could scrape by, maybe develop the land. I would like to see the flyer. I think I can see a group of atvers putting something together.

I got a mailer from mean gene up at the sandhills in St. Anthony. He wants 1.7 million for the resort and some undeveloped ground around if. So if you have $1.7 mill laying around maybe you should think about it.

I wonder if he'll take a check.

St. Anthony dunes is a wilderness study area. That keeps the foot in the door of the meadow muffins. But, there is a lot of support from the locals and the authorities for the riders, and it brings more money to the local economy every year. That area is much different than most, inasmuch as off-road riding is an accepted and normal part of the local culture. As opposed to, say, Seattle (American Communist Headquarters.

But what we all face there like most other areas is an ever-increasing number of riders, and with it the associated idiots. If people follow the simple rules of staying off the grass, riding responsibly, not littering (you'd be amazed at how many beer cans and water bottles I find out there) we can keep them open indefinitely.

The real key is for us to police ourselves, and when you see people riding on grass or littering, open up some whoopass. Don't let a dirtbag spoil your way of life.

Ride On!

We get lots of those here in Montana too. They move here to get away from Cally, then try to tell us how to run our state the way they did "back home".

Hell, I didn't think about that...

Selector's Sand Hills Resort - sounds even better.

St. Anthony's is, for all intents and purposes, right in the back yard of The BlueRibbon Coalition. Those guys (BRC) would die prior to allowing the greenies to get St. Anthony.

You can say that again. I know the folks living in rural parts (and it don't take much to be rural there) of ID burn their own trash. Hell, try that in CA and You'll probably kill a tree hugger that was picking through your trash for recycleable goods.

I don't mean to cut on ID either - it's a great place, just COLD, REAL COLD in the winter.
