Look into the new Sand Stars from ITP. They are lighter than the SS2's and cheaperBR>

7 paddle haulers would be about right - maybe 8 paddles MAX. Get the extreme haulers - they will last longer. Get V paddles and you will regret it the first time you can't climb a hill that everybody else is cruising up. Straight paddles are the only way to go unless you like getting stuck.

IF you are willing to get used Paddles, you can get them all day long in the local classifieds or Ebay for $100

Do a search for this subject, has been done more times than I could possibly imagine to count. Thats a big number.
Cant go wrong with 8 paddle haulers. Look around and try and find some used ones. Most stores around the dunes usually carry some.

v shaped paddles are so you can slide easier. but lose a small % of traction. With the 440 kit you have you will be able to slide a set of Skat Trak haulers they are still the best tire. "But" one of the most expensive. $240 - $250 a pair on rims.
7 - 8 paddle.
As far as the itp sand stars. I almost bought a pair but I was told the paddles on them were a little bit flimsy. One cool thing I heard is that they throw sand in an x shaped pattern.

For just playing around in the dunes, I'd get some Sand Skates, kind of pricey though, around 220 for the set...if you want something more economical try the Sand Sharks, around 150 I think.....
