Well, I grew up around Florida, Georgia area most of my life and live in Indiana now. I can tell you I looked for years and about the closest place to sand dunes your going to get is some vary small areas in Florida. For instance my family lives around central Florida. There are a lot of woods and orange groves which contain alot of fine sugar sand like you find at the beach. There are literally miles and miles of this stuff around Highlands County area along highway 27. You just got to know where to go. As far as real sand dunes your not going to find anything like that unless you travel over to Waynoka OK. or if your willing there are a few in Texas but for the most part Waynoka is your best bet. There isn't really anything in Georgia except course red clay and pretty much mud and rock. Some places more than others. I also use to live in Utah and frequented LS sand dunes which were pretty nice. Bottom line is for us east coasters at least, your going to have to travel to do the real deal. I know people that take trips every year from the east coast to Glamis. Goodluck!
