Yes there's quite a few hotels in Pismo (Oceano Dunes) and as OutofControl said.. at this late date, their probably allready "booked up". You could try other surounding cities: Avila beach, San Luis O'Bispo or ........ You'll have to drive a little bit, but possibly they may have something avail. The beach camping is/was sold out 3-4 months ago. The crowd their on the 4th should be "HUGE"!!! and it will be really busy/hectic/crazy as it is on most all of the Big "holiday weekends". Yes you can rent quads. There's 2-3 ATV rental places: BJ's, Arne's & Steve's. Typically you go to their business locations (in town), sign paperwork, pay your money and then head out to the beach where you get the ATV's. Most rental shops are on Grand Ave. Yes you can drive on the beach. Know that it sometimes gets "tore up" and if you don't have a 4x4 you may get stuck. There are usually people that will stop and pull you out, and there's also a tow company as well. The cost for a "Day pass" you can buy ($4.00 per day). I think day-users can stay till 11:00pm. On the 4th there will be a lot of people who park on the beach for the day and that evening who will pull out late that night.

Yea I was hooking up a little hard on the starts...BR>I was running a 35hp shot of NOS off the start......it was killing me..hehehe
The new starting point was a little wet,and was grabbing hard..I think I had to many paddles I guess??
You thought the starts were crazy,you should have seen me trying to stop at the other end!those little whoops, in the shut down were kinda nasty..scared me a little,if somebody was to pull in front of me it would have been ugly..seemed like a skidded and bounced forever(I guess I am used to shtting down on the uphill and stopping sooner)
This is first time for me racing at Pismo,I learned a few things....
That CRF450 flat out hauls,I heard it was running a 30% NITRO mix "IT WAS IMPRESSIVE!"
That one,and a sparks blue raptor(with Lyle on it)put the hammer down on me though BR>You got to hand it Sparks,they build some fast 4strokes!
DaBeechMan..were you racing? I didn't see a complete quad in your sig/pics(to recognizeyou by)...........don't know if I seen you or not?

Ill be up there for the Portuguese Celebration. Pismo this weekend was packed, there were some fast fast quad at the drags though. There were some fast 4-strokes there including a LSR framed Sparks CR450 quad that strait up flew and I heard that there was a DS that was playin with the Sparks 690's and the Craycraft Raptors, but I didnt see it. There were 4-5 YFZ 450's out there and they ran good and the ones with pipes and head work were fast. Who else went????

I would guess everything is sold out for this weekend... and the beach will be a complete zoo... it's a fun time, but quite crazy!!! For big holiday weekends, I would make reservations at www.reserveamerica.com.. they charge $7.00 but it's worth it not to have to pay the $250.00+ ticket for illegally camping on the beach without a permit (and they do check!!).
Pismo is a great place to ride for all ages and abilities. You just can't beat the sunset over the ocean while watching from the top of a dune... It just doesn't get any better than that.... If you've never been, I would highly recommend it... Have fun and ride safe!!!

We're gonna go on the 17th!! Hopefully the beach won't be a total mess from the 4th! Last time after a major holiday there was soooo much trash on the beach. Sooo, if you're headed there this weekend, PLEASE haul out your trash so it's nice for others who want to enjoy it!!

I agree Beechman. They're just out there doing their job trying to keep it safe for everyone. If you ride double, without a helmet, drunk or do something stupid, you're gonna get stopped by them. My daughter who is 9 is out riding those dunes and the last thing I want is some drunk idiot on a quad running into her.. so just be smart. Ride legally and safely and you won't have a problem!!! And if anyone in your group ever gets hurt badly on the dunes, you will think they are the best guys in the whole world cuz they're right there to help you within minutes! So I say "give em a break"!

Yeah, the rangers were cool this weekend. There were a heck of a lot of em too. One of them pulled me over (thinking to myself...for once im actually being a good boy...and i still get pulled over) and all he told me was to be safe and watch for traffic.
Sorry i didnt get to kick sand in your face again OTC...maybe within the next weekend or two

Yes there are alot of places to stay, but at this late date I dont know. Yes I am sure there will be lots of people at the beach I am sure campsites are sold out. And they will site you and take your fireworks away. But its still a good time, you should come out and play.

If you keep it kool you have nothing to worry about, But get STUPID and they will let you know. Planning to be there the 5th, 19th & 20th and the 27th this month.
Oh, and a word to the wise, Dabeech seems calm and kool when you meet him. But deep inside he is that bully that likes to kick sand in your face. Does anyone know where I can get sterroids for a Banshee?

If you have never been to pismo, i would recommend waiting until the weekend after. There's going to
be a ton of people wanting to rent bikes. There will be people riding all over the dunes. You will have to be
looking out for everyone(not to mention the sudden drop offs in the dunes). A non-holiday weekend is much
better. I wouldn't be going if it wasn't for me wanting to test out my new toy. And i'm only going to go for the
day.

Me and my family were thinking of going to Pismo Beach. Are there hotels close by that you can stay at. My wife is expecting so I want to make her very comfortable. Is there alot of people there for the 4th.Can you take fireworks to the beach.Please let me know if there is anything else I should know. Also can you rent quads.Thanks for all your help.

Now I am planning on the 10th thru 12th. So hopefully won't be so crowded. One more question. Which is the best hotel to stay at on the beach. Nice and cheap.LOL. Can you ride from a hotel directly to the dunes or do you have to drive there. Thats for all your help.

Your a little late to think about Pismo for this 4th of July.
You might get a room, maybe.
But my bet is, if your not dragging your stuff to the sand by 8 am July 4, you can just about forget finding a place to park your stuff, even for the day.
And yeah, it really will be that crowded.

No Facilities anywhere near Pismo/Oceano Dunes will let you drive your quad or anything except a street legal machine from those facilities. And instead, Anally, make you tow your stuff from the Beach Access Ramp, about two miles down the beach front to the parking/staging areas where you can then ride your stuff....
And to top it all off they closed lots of acreage in the last twenty years.
But don't you worry, there will be plenty of cops there to give you written reminders about which law you broke....
And you don't want to get caught with Fireworks....
