On my banshee I have 18x11x8 turf tamers with douglas red labels. They are nice, but when they wear out im moving up to 20". 18's top out to quick. I forget the pattern but i can look how they are grooved i forget exactely. i think every other row 2 middle nobs cut and then the next row one 2 nobs over on each side of the tire.
i guese they work good , never had any other paterns.
i would get douglas wheels, and the 8" rims

H300F whe you change tire size you must go up one tooth on the countershaft sprocket to bring the bike back the stock gearing. Smaller tires will make for short gears. Change the front sprocket and u will see what i mean. As for 8 and 10 inch rims i have 18x10x10 tires on my zilla. 8" rims will give you more flex on the side walls while the 10" rims are closer to the ground and wont have a large side wall and allow for less flex around turns etc...

I am foing to buy some holeshot mx rears and some turf tamers. I was wondering what size of holeshots would be the best to get 18x11x8 or 18x11x10. What is the advantages/disadvantages of the 10 inch rim. About the turf tamers what is the best design to use for grooving them, tell me what knobs you removed and how well the tires did. Also which .190 wheel is better ITP or Douglas? Thanks for any info.

i wouldn't bother grooving the tires, i have 18-9.5-8 grooved turf tamers and 18-11-8 turf tamers ungrooved for my blaster and can't tell a difference between the 2.
