I have 18x11x8 grooved turf tamers on my banshee and i like them. I don't know how regular ungrooved turf tamers work though, i never had them on it yet. so i dont know what is better.

I think that the grooving helps on the Turf Tamers. I think the best way to explain why is to use an analogy that the tire is like a high heeled shoe. The more space between each knob, the more weight that is put on that individual knob and therefore it will bite more, just like the shoe where all the weight is placed on the heel. I hope I explained that well enough for you to understand.

i have 18-9.5-8 and 18-11-8 turf tamer tires both on douglas rims, the 19-9.5-8 are grooved and the 18-11-8 are not. i bought the grooved tires used and the ungrooved brand new.i ride some trails and mostly mx, the tires seemed basically the same, maybe the grooved had a little better traction.will it help if i groove?how do i do it and in what kind of pattern?
