I have them on my LT500. Turf tammers that are grooved are the choice of mx racers

Has anyone ever used 18x11x10 holeshots? I race mx and have never seen any on the track.

I have a set of the holeshots, same size, and they work great. I have Turf Tamers also, and had both of them on my bike yesterday, and it is no comparison. The holeshots just dig and get you moving quickly, with the TT's you had to play with the clutch too much to get them to hook, if at all. We rode on all kinds of terrain and drag races. Just riding around, the holeshots would pull the front end up in third and keep rolling along, the tt's just spun. In a drag with the TT's on if I spun coming off the line, I just gave up and cruised to the other side, the holeshots got me off the line in a hurry everytime. I raced with some fast company yesterday, a modded Banshee, and two 400ex's both worked. I have an LT. Later

Chawness: The tires had about 3/4 tread left on both, maybe a little more. But the TT's had no comparison, I used to like them, now I'm kinda iffy with them on. The holeshots just felt much better in everything I rode on that day, hardpack with some loose stuff on top, a few steep hills with leaves and loose dirt also. On the hills, these tires are not the ticket, but they worked alright. I was getting pelted by my brother's Banshee with a set of Rampage's on his bike, dirt was going everywhere. Later.

yea the 18X11X10 look really cool since they're so low profile.I think I saw kory ellis with some once. I think the low profile will make it handle better. see ya :)

Does anyone make an 18X11X9 tire? Seems that if they can make them on a 10 inch rim a 9 inch would work too. I would rather not buy new beadlocks if ya know what I mean.

Fireblade, Just curious, were both tires new or worn? Also would you say that the turf tamers were worn more or less than the holeshots? I might try some hole shots. I think one reason racers keep using the Turf tamers is because they are less exspensive. Also racers replace there rear tires more often than play riders to keep that sharp edge on the knobbies.

I used to have 18x11x10's on my old Mojave. Racing Trekkars. They looked awesome and hooked even better. The only problem is with a 10" rim and an 18" tire, you get a lot more rim damage. Because of the low profile there is not enough rubber on the sidewalls to soak up the hits. Also when sliding the rim will often dig into the ground, causing the bead to get packed with dirt and start leaking.
Oh, and if you have steel wheels, using the 18x11x10 setup my even bend an axle on hard landings. Been there, done that.
Just a few reasons why you never see 18x11x10's on a full on MX race quad.
